alot of people say that mj was nothin without pippen hes not even in his prime and he still dominates this younger era of the NBA , and my question is can you explain this to me?
If U notice, those people who say that are kobe fans and no, they can't (and won't) explain it, because they don't know enough about the game or anyone else outside of kobe to begin with.
They ALWAYS say nonsense like that, because they're desperately trying to find a way to discredit MJ and prop kobe up over him.
I'm a Jordan's fan and I worship him so much, but now I want to share some of my viewpoints about the game. As for the last shot of michael in this game, Jordan really takes advantage of his skiilful fadeaway. However, if Eddie Jones was smart and experienced enough, Michael could get a charging foul when MJ was trying to use the fake spinning to create space for the jump shot. Anyway, who could stay calm and 100% focused when guarding one of the greatest players of all time!
The difference between from Jordan and Kobe's fadeaway is that Jordan was much more consistent due to his insane ability to create space, just look at 6:19 and the space he created between him and the defender for the shot, just a simple shake, Kobe has yet to have this type of space creating ability from backing his defender, most of the time defenders don't buy into his head and shoulder fakes and contest the shot anyways
how he creates the space in the last fadeaway is a text book prove of his great fundamental skill. very similar to hakeem. using backfacing hop steps with his body weight to fake a spin move and then a turn around. his footwork is unpredictable because he has so many moves.
@popeyeisgood Yeah I agree with you...I think that MJ and Dream are 2 of the very few guys who are totally unpredictable. Kevin McHale was also unpredictable ...and had great footwork too...
@flight23magic32 I wouldn't say they were unpredictable. MJ and Dream had their go to moves, and options after the go to move, and the ability to make the tough shot from all the options available. At 2:15- 2:30, he's really just going for his fadeaway jumper to the right. As he backing him down, he's testing Gill with slight movements to spin baseline. Since Gill is tentative and not really biting, just holding ground, that's enough for jordan to know that gill won't make get a good contest
@Agenthai7 Well they had many moves and that makes them unpredictable...another great player who also unpredictable was Magic Johnson...I remember Bird saying something like with most players he knew what they were gonna do on a break so he would get ready for a steal or a charge but with Magic he could never guess...
but the thing about jordan is he almost always has a counter move if gill were more aggressive. why is gill so tentative there? because he respects jordan's ability to spins to the baseline and make easy basket or get fouled. you can say he might have feared jordan " ability" to get call also.
not saying every moves jordan made is unpredictable, but in general he has read his defender well before they could read his. he always has a counter move or a few of them and he has always been able to pull it out so quick that defender cant react as quick.
This is poor commentating. I miss the 90's, totally lacking excitement and adrenaline. GARBAGE, Great shots by the King.
