  • My conscience, the court and the law have never found Yuk Man guilty for this protest. We should praise him for his courage to fight for a worthy cause instead

  • It is a principle of common law that everyone shall be presumed innocent before the court finds him guilty. As the court has never passed and will never pass any judgment that this protest is wrong (as even the police themselves did not brought the case to court), then, by law, on what grounds can we blame Yuk Man when even the law and the court has not blamed Yuk Man for this protest.

  • Another point comes to my mind, which seems interesting to those who like the law. Has the court said this protect is unlawful? Of course not.

  • I need not the court to decide for me. I myself can decide whether the protest is peaceful or not. Even the judges are human beings, and the law is enacted by people. I trust my own conscience instead of believing in law or authority blindly

  • In what way is the protest not peaceful? You cannot not say to Donald Tsang softly and with a smile, as Donald will just ignore you. Through people's efforts, the old people's allowance is raised to $1,000 and the Legislative Council will investigate the mini bond scandal and help those sufferers.

  • hong kong police just a dog, acturally its more worse than a dog, dog still can think whats right to them, those ppls are fighting freedom and righteous for their country, sad for them

  • It's not the fault of the Police or Yuk Man, they are just at different positions! It's the fault of the government!

  • The Police is doing their jobs, but so is Yuk Man! Being a true academic is to exercise and utilize your knowledge to do good for the world, not some closed-door academic only sitting in their arm-chairs and have no empathy for the world's issues! It's the the fault of the Police or Yuk Man, they are just at different positions! It's the fault of the government!

  • yeah everything is 'the fault of the governemnt', 咁得未?

  • Shame on Yuk Man particularly being an academic. The Police is here only to uphold the law. If there is anything wrong, it is the problem of the law but not the Police. He is abusing his civil liberty that is protected by the law, that he is trying to bresk in this episode.

  • I cannot see in what way Yuk Man abused the civil right. He was just staging a peaceful protest against the small circle election and this was the only way we can do to express the people's will. You say, "It is the problem of the law but not the Police." Which chapter in Hong Kong law says that civil protectors must be removed if no obstruction is caused?

  • I believe in universal suffrage in response to the small circle election you quoted but this is just not the crux of the matter here. There are a lot of platforms that we can express our views including the peaceful protest you said but is a protest still peaceful if the protestors deliberately broke the laws? Submitted not but even if it is, it is certainly up to the court to decide, not the protestors. (to be continued in message below)

  • The protestors could complaint to the court or the Complaint Police office. They had no right to judge by themselves, on behalf of the magistrate, that the police was wrong and broke the law. Can you find someone guilty, whom you think doing something wrong, and punch him without bringing him to the police or court? (to be continued in message below)

  • The laws have far more considerations that will make a protest peaceful or not peaceful, as opposed to obstruction alone; that i don't think you can see from the video clip alone. After all there is no conflict between democracy and rule of laws. If everyone can do anything at the detriment of others simply because they like it, what will this world become? George Bush may agree to it.

  • rubbish hk police

  • This is not the matter of insulting HK Police (frontline). But you have to think about who is having such a decision from behind. What a shame to work for such a government.

    Shame on you!

  • I support 一人一票, but 毓民 has no leadership at all in this incident, he should focus on what he is there for, not fight with the police. It is police's job to enforce the law and order. He sholdn't encourage his supporter to sit on the road. He needs to learn how to respect other people.

  • what will you do if you are a pro-democracy party leader if most of HK business people and citizens are "bribed" for benefits from China???

you must be a great leader with MBA from Harvard.....I admire you!!!

  • Would you name a place in the world that businessman isn't tied to politcs? I think Hong Kong police has much more tolerance than any place in the world, then why still insult them? They are just doing their job. I believe some of the police really want to support the protester, but it is their job to follow order. Can you imagine if there is no police, who is going to maintain the law and order. Just keep your voice up on what you protest for, stay focus. Hong Kong is a paradise.

  • My brother is a police officer in HK. He told me that senior police management actually brainwashed them on democratic protesters! This is true as he and his team was assigned "duties". The reason they dare not overdo it is due to reporters.....police heads don't want to have negative (or even neutral news) in the press! This is true from a HK Police insider standpoint!

  • continue>>>

If you talk about police, Taiwan Police is among the most friendly among Chinese countries HK, Taiwan, and China. I have friends in the police circles in these areas.

HK used to be a paradise...but unfortunately, it is more and more becoming a mainland China city..... :(

We all need to fight for democracy in a peaceful and yet powerful way! We cannot let evil stuff like passing the Article 23 to happen in what a once "paradise" city HK!

  • I hope i didn't misleading you. What I comment here is from what I see in this video. 黃毓民 may be a great person on what he is doing. But when he use his protesters( the old people) to spread out his voice, that is not the right things to do. If one of the old protester get hurt during the incident, who should responsible for it? Think of one of the protester is your father or mother and being injury, who do you blame for? Soldiers and civilians is the one get hurt during a war, not the General.

  • If my family or friends go for what they do in the fight for democracy, I would support them! I would care of their danger, but if it is there own determination, I will still support them!

Remember, all those people do the protest on their own...and join Prof Wong's organization on their own...unlike Communists in China forcing business owners and professionals to join the Communists Party! That is the difference between a free world and a tyranny regime.

  • Mr WWONGHK,

If nobody go for such democracy rights, HK will be a communist region tomorrow.

You did not mislead me,....there are people who choose to live quietly and there are those who have the guts to voice out their ideals with their passion. I respect your choice, but please respect these democracy fighters choice as they did not use forces or violence!

I don't know where you live, but surely you have not lived long enough in mainland China or Taiwan, despite you might be born in HK.

  • Mr WWonghk,

Solders are typically forced to commit to serving their country...and they have no choice and be sent to Iraq or wherever! That is why people in the States also have the freedom to condemn Pres Bush and do street protests!

But these protesters in HK are all volunteers themselves.....and not get paid or whatever! They just do what they think is right in a non-violent way!

  • I rarely respond so much to net folks, but I gotta share with you the importance of respecting other people's value and ideals!

I know you are probably a father of 3 and don't wanna risk your job or life, and noboday ask you to do so.

PLEASE RESPECT THE PROTESTERS OF FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY!

And thanks for support the fight for democracy and freedom of speech in your heart!

  • My comment is based on what I see from this video, nothing more than that. If my voice cannot be heard by the public, then what kind of democracy you are fighting for? A great leader should able to accept critics from all kind. Please don't label anyone to be leftist or communist just because who has different opinion than yours. The best way to improve democracy is encourging and educating more young people to speak up and discuss how they feel about the society.

  • 毓民's heart is in the right place. We should think about what we ourselves have ever done for Hong Kong.

  • CMHO....very smart reply to the leftist dogs!

    thahks!

  • sure.....maybe....but the police will be prosecuted after the incident!!!

    Fight for freedom in Asia!!!

  • police sucks that for sure, they no sence of humour..

  • MORE POWER to YUKMAN, LONGHAIR and Mr. GOO Seeyiu

  • Does he have a job?

Is that gonna work.. shout and yell....go to hell

  • what does employment have to do with democracy?

  • fuck hong kong police

    fuck communists!

  • hey, don't fucking hong kong police again .

  • Fxxk the protesters. Go to hell.

X,you fucking wanker

  • if u guys were in singapore u would have a taste of high pressure water hose

  • this is hilarious

  • A protest is never a protest if it is permitted.

  • @kwongyeewong it is still a protest in nature but the cops have no f**king right to dismiss a peaceful protest

  • fuck the HK police!!!!

  • why? because you have a dick?!

  • Thanks for those who fight for democracy of HK!!!!

  • I don't know Cantonese well, I catch a word or two; Obviously, this is disagreement about political view or some soft. Can someone please kindly explain why can't they bring the issues to the tables, sit down and work together to find mutual solutions?

  • That's how people fight for democracy throughout the history. What we see is actually a very mild way of civil disobedience. The protesters did not fight back in any manners. No stones or molotov cocktail was thrown. Only the police used force to remove the protesters.

The saddest part is that the majority of the press in HK is pro-establishment and certainly try their best to ignore acts like these....

  • The police have right to made oder to any force to remove the protesters......anyway protesters should listen to police.....If here in USA I think USA policeman to big force than hong kong police......Pls think about this .

  • You think.....

Have you been to a protest before?????

First of all, there's no violence or intention of violence from the protesters. Also, the mass media and the press in HK did their best to ignore the protesters. In US, protests like this will certainly be reported.

  • At the moment, only 800 people (mainly from the elite social class who are pro-China) can vote for the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. During March 2006 (which is when this video is from), an "election" took place between two candidate. One was Donald Tsang who was widely backed by China, and the other candidate was Leong Ka Kit, leader of the Civic Party which is part of the pan-Democrat camp.

  • This is fucking wong yuk man I don't shouting to hong kong police Any people can't shouting to police .

I know this is peace but Fucking Wong yuk Man should be listen to oder from policeman.....

Policeman had powerfully clrean all in any place.

Fucking Wong Yuk Man If you not like Now in Hong KOng pls go to do job of dog in American persidentin fucking USA.
