@cmahar3 I used a Starlight Xpress Lodestar monochrome CCD camera - this is now mounted on the Meade ETX-70 scope [instead of MX-916 adjacent] as both e-finder and autoguider for main 12" Meade SCT using PHD freeware - guides big scope ok for trail-free imaging ;-]
Hi - the big Meade 12" LX200 cost a few £K a decade ago [cheaper now!] and the Meade ETX-70 cost ~£250 but piggybacked ETX-70 tube rescued from trash bin!
do you have to use a fast lens for the e-finder to work effectively or can you use a longer focal length camera lens of slower f/stop and jsut take slightly longer exposures?
It was referred to as the Great Andromeda Galaxy before it was discovered that in fact it is a island universe or galaxy as you prefer to call it. It's not uncommon to hear people call it a great nebula for nostalgic purposes.
nice video post!
very informative sir!

this may be a stupid question but where did you get your telescope and how much did it cost.

Correct - a fast 85mm fl f/2 lens - 1s exposure for 'finder-mode' and up to 3m for 'deep' imaging - hope that helps.

the andromeda GALAXY isn't a nebula.
