they NEED to remake this. not sticking right to the script, just keeping the whole "hey look, half the characters are exaggerated stereotypes, it makes funny references, and it makes fun of western films!"
obviously, they'd have to keep the....well bad special effects (like in part 9 where they just push over a horse prop rather than making it look realistic)
just make everyone a bit more relaxed about looking at issues of race. if you can laugh at something, you can beat it.
@mikebrightman I agree on the whole race thing, but not on this being remade unless it was done shot for shot. And I don't think we have anyone who could replace the two main characters. Gene Wilder is unreal in this film. Cleavon Little too. But yeah. We've all become too PC these days. I'm Irish and laugh my bag off at every Paddy-Irishman joke. People need to lighten the fuck up these days and stop being such dicks
" No where Special. " It is amazing that we were Just getting our minds in cinch with racial equality in 1974... And what happens? It starts All Over again with the children of the radical Homophobes reintroducing to their children the ignorant prejudices of their parents. What a pity people have such an egotistical whimsy to let one's Color or nationality or religion create such a decisive barrier to a civil society. How can we survive when there are those out there saying NO? We Cant.
At 1:30, they had to overlay a matte of "Blazing Saddles" flashing on the outdoor marquee. When these scenes were shot, they read, "Black Bart," the original title of the film. If you see this blown up far enough, you can see "Black Bart" on the lobby cards in the theatre as Harvey Korman goes past the concession stand and ticket window.
Its simple, when the big fight scene started the cast of the movie were so into it they fought off the set. They were so into their characters they kept going out into other movie sets and then they gave up and decided to go watch the movie they just filmed.
@MrJohnop Actually it was 'set' in 1874 (100 years prior to the film's release in 1974). Since this movie was, for better or for worse, a spoof Mel Brooks thought it would be funny to add then-contemporary (1974) elements to it.
Dammit warner bros, i just don't fucking get you. You block all the WMG songs on youtube that I want to listen to, but posting entire movies is cool? Not that Im not greatful, and thanx to the poster, but WTF warner, WTF.
I watched this repeatedly in the theater when it was first released--and really enjoyed watching it again, after lo these decades, tonight. Thanks for putting this up!!!!!

There are many movies it's possible to remake.
This is not one of them. It barely got made in the first place.
I am thankful for the posting, but would have liked the end credits not to be cut off.

What the fuck is going on? I thought this was set in the mid west of the 1860's. So where did the cars come from.
