  • Is part two now online?

  • I just bought this thing off ebay and I cannot wait. The cheapest camera I could find with a great cinema quality and loaded with useful features.

  • I'm thinking about getting this camera and this quality looks awesome. What mic did you use?

  • which is better the canon vixia hfs100 or 200???

  • @baconbits12321 200 is just the newer version of the HF100, it has just some new feature. but overall they are the same camera if were talking about the quality.

  • Great video I learn t a lot and the simple approach to it was cool. Keep up the work.

  • really want the soundtracks!

  • Did you ever use any external lenses like a wide-angle lens or something?

  • I'm still waiting for part 2!!

  • Inspired :) Great work

  • nice job! do you use 30pf with your hf100?

  • wow nicely done!

  • generally i thought the idea was cool, and i'm a huge no country fan as well, just be careful not to overuse your shots , in particular the tracking. i thought it worked really well on the beach, but they were used so often at the beginning that it almost became cliche

  • @MajicPictures Thanks for the comment. Looking back, I agree that the dolly was overused.

  • what settings do you use? cause i have this same camera and i cant get nearly this good of quality please help. it looks decent on the camera screen but horrible on the computer. I have a mac and i use imovie to edit. please help me out on what i can do to get the best quality possible. thanks and i also have final cut pro but i dont use it cause i cant get the files imported in there

  • @fullyflaredsk8er I use Cinema Mode with highest HD quality. I edit in Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 on a PC.

  • @Vahkil okay idk what is wrong then cause this is really pissing me off

  • @Vahkil Alright thanks do you think if i get final cut express i will be able to get quality like this?

  • You can import files directly to Final Cut Pro by going to file > log and transfer. From their, the camcorder should be automatically picked up. Then simply drag footage into the box that says "drag footage here". Also on iMovie, make sure that for the importing settings that it is set to original full quality setting (preferences > video).

  • @fullyflaredsk8er just...dont use imovie, or at least i hope you are able to convert it to a format that looks flawless and works in imovie.

  • love it. great work! i might be interested in your camera but i wont have the money for about a month.

  • great work

  • Great work my friend ! The camera work and editing is cool, and the picture quality...I'm anxious to get to work with my Vixia (in box, waiting birthday). Kind of ironic that cool work like yours gets so few views, and that some of the crap out there gets millions ! Keep your standards high, and all the best to you !

  • Great job!.........email me once the part two comes out.............by the way, I am working on a short with the pro panasonic ag dvc20p cam.......3 ccd..........you know anything about this cam?.........Torchidman

  • nice work!

  • what kind of extension cord did you use for the rode videomic? I really need to know. and please be specific. Was it the rode VC1 cable?

  • @sonicballer8888; I just used an mono extension cord from Radio Shak to cover the length of the boom pole (Rode mic at one end and the digital recorder at the other where the operator could reach it). I didn't plug it into the camera. I recorded the audio separately into the H2 Zoom.

  • oh ok. do you ever use this cord indoors? they say that most extension cords besides xlr create a buzzing noise when used indoors.

  • Yeah. It has some static associated with it. I have never used an xlr mic to test the difference. I'm not sure if there's any difference depending on whether you are indoors or outdoors though.

  • vERY gOOD.

  • BRAVO. Canon should pay you for this. You really showed what can be done with this camera with hard work and talent. Please post as much of your work as you can.

  • Amazing! Keep the good work!

  • enjoyed it!

  • lack of any substantial dialogue in 'no country for old men?' you must not have read a lot of cormac mccarthy.

  • The lack of dialogue comment is in reference to the hunting scene in the Coen's film adaptation.

  • Mogaa, the mic is attached to a shock mount that helps damp noise that is transmitted up the boom. You dont want to detach it. All commercial boom poles have a threaded end that screw into the mount of the videomic. The pole I have, I made out of a hardware store painters pole and a threaded screw/bolt. The canon does not accomodate the rode videomic on its hotshoe. you can probably build a rig for it if you need it on camera.

  • 2 questions:

    1. can you detach/remove the rhode videomic microphone from the little thing it's mounted on? if not, how can you attach it to a boom stick?

    2. Is the Rhode Videomic microphone attachable on the HF100's mini advanced shoe?

please answer as soon as possible

  • Thanks!

  • It was very good. I own a Hf100 and I've never thought it was capable of all that. Really amazing!

  • This was awesome! It really kept my attention!

    Looking forward to part two!

  • Love Dis Video So Much!!!

    It Convinced Me

In Planning On Purchasing Rite Now.......

Would It Still Work Fine With Sony Vegas Pro 8?

  • hey, i really need to know.. what type of SD card do you use?

because i bought an HF100 bought i use a Sandisk 4GB which i know is not good but i don't what good SD card i have to buy. or SDHC.. i don't know which one it is. Because when i record with the 4GB one the videos are not in full HD.

  • i really really liked this! one of the best short films i've ever seen. i'm still young but i want to study filmmaking. soo i hope to be learning a lot from your videos! looking foward to part 2! and i think i'm buying a vixia hf100. i'm still between that or the hg10 :/

  • Thanks Mogaa! It's a fun small camera.

  • yes, i just ordered it today. but i have one question. how did you make it look so clear. cuz i wanna know because i've seen some test people make in which the camera is not on HD and even when it is it looks grainy and not as high definition or clear as yours.

  • I don't do anything special to it aside from adjusting color, brighness, and contrast inside of Sony Vegas when editing. I be sure to use a tripod or dolly when I can to stabilize the image.

  • yeah i got a tripod. well thanks very much :) this video made me sure to buy the hf100. because the hg10 looks more like for home videos. this one looks better for films :)

  • man, like the video a lot, very professional from different angles, but one thing that I don't like is way too many movie tricks, try to keep it more simple.

  • Thanks for the compliments and constructive comment. Could you elaborate on the movie tricks you are referring to?

  • I'm not a pro movie editor, so by saying movie tricks I was referring to parts where you capturing and holding the viewer's attention (don't know if there is a specific term for that, but you know what I mean). It started very nice, but then there were just too many of these. I would say very good style, but for a full lenght movie. Keep up the good work!

  • Absolutely beautiful... you know.. there are alot of these people on Youtube who became partners, Like Fred, or Smosh and these kids are ALL talent free... their shit is SHIT... and it makes me mad when i see that they have 1 million hits on their videos...everyone needs to see how amazing Your work is!!!!! keep it up!!!!!

  • Thanks for the support !
