The guy in the beginning announcements sounds really excited at one point. U would think that he's say something like "Ladies and Gentlemen, Wicked" but then he just continues 2 speak!!

@fina81 I think it's because the people who visit Universal Studios Japan mostly speak either Japanese or English, so they switch back and forth to give both groups and a chance to understand a bit.

America is one of the few countries that is not bilingual. Japan especially teaches almost all children in school to speak other languages.

Japan's most common form of entertainment: anime, uses many english words and phrases for emphasis and because the diction often fits the song better.

Between that, and that this production is owned by Universal, I'm really not surprised that there is a lot of English. While they may not know exactly what they're saying, they understand it close enough.

Not sure. But it makes this production weirdly-special. This is in Universal Studios Japan, therefore the show had to be trimmed "that" much.

The Japanese still have their own full-size production of Wicked in Japanese Version.

a lot of Japanese tv shows (animes mostly) have part of the lines in English too. I think it's kinda' like opera, where even though it's in another language you still get it.

Well, it's not that hard to read, memorize and recite certain words in japanese. Loads of people I know can listen and recite other languages and have no idea what they're saying.

I can tell from her accent and her pacing of certain syllables...that its highly doubtful she knows the language.
