@TheJigargosha hello, it is actually koo-e-yaar and soo-e-dar.

Muqaam, Faiz koi rah mein jacha hi nahi

jo koo-e-yaar se nikle to soo-e-dar chale

koo-e-yaar means the place of the loved one, the home, residence..

and soo-e-dar means towards the death gallows.. soo is towards and dar is that flat piece of wood used in killing by means of gallows or hanging..

Strange how Faiz Ahmad Faiz could write this ghazal what takes you with it to the unseen heavens of peace of mind and so much so how could Mehdi Sahib sing it in such an unforgetable way that no one else can do on the earth. Extraordinary.

Friend told me this story last night and i'm still laughing.

Faiz sahib servant answer the door bell and inform faiz their is lady at door with sweets and flowers to thank you for this beautiful ghazal faiz was pleasantly surprise and told the servant to show her guest room.

upon seeing faiz she thanked him by saying I've shop in bazar-e-husen and ever since i've wrote ur ghazal on signe bord my business has increased ten times (chalay bhee aaio gulshan ka karobar chalay ) :D

@Asif410 that was Amad Nadeem Qasmi Sahab Marhoom who said to Faiz sahab Marhom in a pleasant funny mood that a tawa-if name Gulshan has written this verse on her home that " chaly b ao k "GULSHAN" ka karobar chalay.
