I was there when that was filmed. Mr. Linkletter was genuinely touched by the affection and reminiscent innocence in the room. Having been on his show in '69 or '70, it was a MUST-DO when the production company did a casting call for any of us who had been on it. THANK YOU for posting this! (I welled-up ... AGAIN!)

@realisticHomeboy Not so. I have two little brothers and I vividly remember the years when they were between 3 and 8 years old. This sort of thing happened all the time - kid's just think impulsively, without any social or cultural barriers. We forget what that's like as adults, because our thinking is so premeditated and biased, due to a variety of things that are involved with growing up. It's sad in some ways, but that's why I love this show so much. :)
this dude was a pervert everything he had them kids talk about was sex related think about it the media is not going to let little kids say what ever comes to there mind they give these kids a script to read there is alot of subliminal messages in all his shows

@keyringer Not widely known to the public before she died in 1969, 20-year-old Diane Linkletter jumped out of a window of her high-rise apartment to her death in West Hollywood, California.
@neongreenmaracas1 Come on now----look at the innocence......not all innocence is lost !! What a shame that you perceive things in this negative way! I pity you......
@neongreenmaracas1 What you've said is a reflection of the success of the anti-love propaganda that has permeated this country. Nowadays you can't even touch a kid on the shoulder without being accused of something inappropriate. Kids need love, attention and affection and if they lack this kind of contact they become antisocial and afraid of people and have a hard time relating to others. There are very few pedophiles in the world, and lots of genuinely nice, kind, loving, helpful adults.
I first heard of him during the 1970's. In the game of "Life" his name and picture was on the one - hundred thousand dollar bill. Then in the mid 80's I heard him do radio commercials about the Arbor Drugs photo center. Where they make the sound of the wind blowing and he says "You can keep those summer memories all winter long".
That was real nice. I remember as a child watching him on TV. I can recall,I didn't know a thing he was saying but somehow he endeared himself to me with his gentle ways, mannerisms, patient nature and soothing voice. Don't forget all the funny faces he made either! I believe the world would be a better place if children grew up in a time where TV shows were for families, and FOR SURE in a world without computers, and video games. I shudder to think about what the future holds in store.
I don't know how many times that you watch this without getting teary eyes. Art is such a great guy that he would be a cool relative. That's a rare thing that you see anymore!!! We miss you Art!
This actually brought tears in mye yes... one word: BeaUtiFul!!! <3
Bill Cosby did a great job by inviting SO many people whoa ctually were in the show before... as the ENTIRE studio audience... what a beautiful thoughtful way of paying tribute... GOD Bless him... well.. GOD bless all the people in this episode...for putting it up all together!!!
Makes Howard Storm and other 'shock jocks' appear even more loathsome than they already are, if possible. I know, I know, just change the station. Try raising a child in our cesspool culture and tell me how easy that is to do.
Beautiful moment. Art's book, "Kids Say the Darndest Things" was the first book I read as a child, a 35 cent paperback, and I still have it, and have reread it many times since. Thanks for posting this, and thanks to Bill Cosby as well.
Oh gosh, I saw this for the first time just now, and then I found out it's 5 days since he passed away! I'm not familiar with the entire show but it sure looks like an amazing episode of American television history!
Art is (was) such a talent, that I don't doubt that many of his baby boomer kids from his shows came to this taping to honor such a great man. Art made it look so easy, but even the talented Bill Cosby couldn't quite equal the great Art Linkletter. Art, thanks for your decent entertainment, and Bill, for carrying the torch for our generation. Two decent guys in theis world that's not always so decent anymore.
This one brought tears to my eyes! What a sweet thing to do for Art...Bill is awesome! I miss Bill's shows as well as this one. Both of them are amazing with kids and such good men.
We need more great men like him in television and radio today. In spite of the tragedies in his own life he continued to make us laugh and feel positive about life.
If only we had more men like this. I'd also adore more programming like that Mr. Linkletter gave us. I remember watching this show when Mr. Cosby did it. It was just great-and the reactions of Mr. Cosby to thier responses was just hilarious!
Two very good men and I'm so glad the tribute was paid from one for the other. Mr. Cosby tweeted yesterday "thank you Art Linkletter." I think that says it all.
We were just watching his videos today because he died today. He seemed old in this video, seemed old back in the 50's. And yet died in 2010... seems like he lived a pretty decent life... good for him... the power of thinking young makes you young.
Our family loved watching Art Linkletter when I was a kid, and our favorite segment was the kids. Art's shows were funny and clean family fare, and I have remembered him fondly for all these years. I celebrate his life and wish his family well in their loss as he died today at the age of 97.
Art Linkletter seemed like a part of America's family. How precious was this, Bill Crosby. I wonder when this was filmed. Thank you for sharing. Art Linkleltter, we love you. Rest well, dear friend--there's a special place for you in Heaven. Happiness, smiles, endaring, perserverance are words I think of when I remember this great man. What a grand surprise--all his grown up "kids" in this audience!
RIP Art Linkletter. 05/26/10 - this video is as fitting a tribute as I could find for the man who wove a very important thread through the fabric of American life.
What a man... what a heart... what a way to reveal to us the purity and innocence of childhood, and how we can view the world with better eyes... Miss you Art!
He is a Legend in American History! What a Man! xoxox I am only 27 but loved this man on re runs when I were a kid! I can always go back and watch these if I need a laugh! RIP Mr. Linkletter. America loves you!
ANd if he did this shit today he'd be hailed as a pedophile because people are so paranoid.

What a man... what a heart... what a way to reveal to us the purity and innocence of childhood, and how we can view the world with better eyes... Miss you Art!

Both Americans and Canadians lay claim to Art Linkletter. This is a wonderful clip from this show I used to watch. Thanks for the laughs, Art. RIP.
