  • both cars are sick, 383 with spray is a vicious combo. my buddy just finished his monte carlo with the same setup and it MOVES

  • people just dont get that power is power and if you have more get up than the other with the right gear set up than they cant do shit to you , its not like a corvette is unbeatable, just expensive

  • Has much been changed in the last two years? It looked like once the Vette reached the upper rev band, it matched the speed of the Z (I'm assuming it's a Z28?). With closer ratios and a higher redline, I imagine it could have kept up.

  • @corvettejunkie6 I wouldn't exactly call them slow. Give them a little credit. They are still a lightweight LS platform. With a manual gearbox, they can get up and motivate. The Z51 package and Z06 in the C5's were nasty.

  • go with one of the many stroker crate engines, from 347 to 427. Your '67 or whatever stang you ride will hold a big-block, so a 351W based engine will definitely fit.

  • @RoganRicheart Good run - sounded like you short-shifted a little - run that baby all the way up to redline to shift. Also - have it tuned to bump the rev limiter up to 6500 to allow you to shift right at the stock redline without bumping the limiter. I have my Z bumped to 7k on the tune for the same reason.   • @mqqn01 actually my clutch didn't pop up as normal. we did a couple of runs prior and i did runs against another car before this last run. the heat on my dirty brake fluid in the clutch line wasn't a good combo.

    my buddy got his car painted up now...supposedly she looks "sick" now. will post up when i get over to his place.

  • A stroked motor is when they take in this case a 350 and bored it out and put different internals to make it have a bigger stroke

  • No that's a stroked and bored motor. Stroking is when you replace the stock rods with longer rods giving it a longer "stroke".

  • wrong, rods have nothing to do with stroke length, the crankshaft is what generates the stroke of pistons.

  • it's basically a kit where you replace the rod that connects to the piston to allow for more travel. it's basically gives you more cubes by increasing the amount of travel, or stroke. hince a "stroker" kit.

  • you could build a stroker using stock rods if you wanted to. The only thing that creates stroke is a crankshaft.

  • in the 383 stroker, they bore it .060, and put a 400 crank in it.

  • no a .060 over 350 block with a 400 crank is a 388.

  • OK, is everyone retarded! Only the C6 Z06 comes with a 427! The biggest engine that came in any of the C5's was the LS6 (still a 350), in the Z06; unless you got a special order from lingenfelter or callaway. And just so no one comes behind me and says that the LS6 was a 454 from the late 60's....I know that, they used the code twice. AND, if that C5 was stock its probably only puttin down around 320hp, a 383 stroker BETTER be able to beat it. HollyEquipped, gotta agree with ya on this one man.

  • yes you are correct.........they ARE ALL retarded. BTW, a 5.7 LS engine is a 346 CI. One more thing. Stock LS1's put down between 275 and 310 to the wheels stock.

  • You have said it clutchless manuals!! That means you/yourself has to manualy shift the gears when needed. Remember ! Automatic shifts for you !! Pro drag cars you have to put your hand on the handle and shift it MANUALY!

  • Need a manual tranny for Higher RPM for your top end horse power! Auto tranny is for lower RPM for more tork. with auto tranny will not hold the HIGH RPMs. more likely shift at the rong time durning racing. that is why all race cars have manual tranny in them. Watch Nascar and Drag raceing. All manual tranny...

  • You couldn't be more wrong. More often than not a drag car has an automatic tranny. I sold a 94 Z28 I had not too long ago, automatic car that ran consistant 12.7's. Manual trannys are more road track friendly than auto's though.

  • I will say a well set up auto is generally better than a stock manual, but my personal favorite is the good ol' 2 speed power glide...

  • I have a 305 tuned port and I've done heads and cam to it. After a nice tune, it has 372 hp and 400ftlbs

  • Well lets see. I do have nitrous, but, since it is selectable, it's not always on. I rarely use the stuff anyway, cuz it's especially hard on stock internals. I have only found one vehicle around here that I needed spray to beat... And it was a 70s model chevy truck with a big block and HUGE heads and cam.

    my pedal got so soft i actually had to wait 5 minutes for it to rise back up.

  • Facts: C5=430rwhp and approx.3100lbs lt1=410rwhp+75 shot and 3550lbs and ignition miss.

    Verdict: c5 got smoked on 3 out of 4 runs. Would have been 4 out of 4 but lost traction from launching to hard. Vettes are for Yuppies. Macgyver sorry for hatin':)
