@An0nYm0u5443 this comment doesn't have the purpose to cause a typical youtube comment fight, but I don't think Mike was a Heroin user... he was more like an LSD and Pot kind of guy, maybe Cocaine
@pearljamporch I know he had a bad drug problem and since Heroin was back in fashion in the early 90's and by the look of his body in many video's I assumed as I believe many have that he had a Heroin addiction...there are other on the internet who say the same. Who knows?? Who cares really I think Pearl Jam rock!!
THAT was an awesome video. great stuff here. cant believe id never seen it. Ive seen mike destroy three guitars now.....as recently as 06 and in 2001 and 2000.
if you look at the date stamps you can see that the footage is from 2 different concerts, the first one on the 17th and the second on the 21st. I was at the one on the 17th, it was similcast on Triple J. Awesome concert!
@undertakerfreak1127 yeah but five years later Eddie and the boys would learn why the "idiot" security guards are there ... to ensure no one gets killed, hurt, or crushed in the mosh pit. (I do believe I Am Mine and Love Boat Captain is about what can when it all goes wrong!) I love mosh pits ... but sometimes they can be as scary as fuck ... especially when big surges happen.
HAha.. That was the Melbourne show. Basically what happened is that Eddie protested @ the price of ticket sales and they were going to perform for almost nothing at all. I think they only wanted $25 per ticket but the premoters got greedy so people jumped the fence and it collapsed.. A whole bunch of people got in to see the concert.. Those who paid were pissed off..
@miamad haha that is a comment obviously coming from someone who doesnt know much about the music scene..to call pearl jam a bunch of posers is really stupid...call them crazy but poses?..maybe go to a kings of leon page with that comment..lol
@muziqspumpin Yeah I agree, Kings of Leon used to write catchy garage tunes.......now they're a pop musics worst nightmare I think anyway.
But I've got to say it........I think Pearl Jam are losing it a bit, maybe they're getting older but I think the last three albums have been really "pffffffftt is that it"
NW= Ninja Warrior, just what Eddie Vedder is at some concerts; he would climb up on the light rigging, camera booms, the stage, anything and would stage dive.
@laminateddeffeect i agree with that man dave is the man for this song and the whole ten album plus vs. I didnt know that about jack man i knew he was messed up but that makes sense
It was in Melbourne isn't it? In 1996 I used to listen a small tape copy of this fabulous concert( i recognize the speech at first!), they make a really long and deep version of Rockin'in a free world at the end!! I think it was one of the best live ever
appearantly jack suffered from Bipolar disorder which ultimately affected his drumming, so for most of his sets, he had to keep it simple or not over do it which made the songs lack in his department, Jack is one of my favorite drummers ever but he lacked in all the hard hitting power songs that mde Pearl jam who they are. Yup, dave owned on this one....
well i'm no expert in the subject, well I read in the one of many biographies of pearl jam that Jack would have tremendous energy loss from playing their style that after a while, he would have to conserve his energy by keeping his drumming "simple". I am curious however to know wha are the effects of bi polar disorder?...
Jack was the fucking man!!!!!!!! PJ made their best two albums with him not mention their biggest hit they ever wrote(they didn't write last kiss)in I Got Shit and Long Road on Merkinball. He was amazing and had energy and technique that I don't think either Matt or Dave had, despite them both being amazing in their own right.
While that may or may not be true, the addition of Jack Irons' laid back and solid groove-oriented style --- for many PJ punters --- was a welcomed change from the all-fills, all-the-time, crash cymbal-heavy style of his predecessor.
I was one of the 32000 fucking people at the Sydney show. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Tape recorded the whole show when the aired it from Melbourne on Triple J. So glad I found this video! Gotta love these guys.
I think the first part of this video and the second part are from two different concerts...no?
The bridge for the version of Porch with the NW speech has the same spacy jam but Ed sings..."for the ultimate thrill...you've got pay the ultimate price...I don't know if that's right"
Yep, totally edited. I was at the Myer music bowl show where the fence came down, they were two totally different shows. The NW speech was broadcast on Triple J as part of a live concert feed. The Myer Music bowl show was slated to be the only concert, but sold out in a millisecond so they added two more at Rod Laver Arena which came before it.
Vitalogy tour.. I went to Canberra exhibition park. My first concert i was 15yrs old. Right up the front and eddie drank out of my sisters shoe. lol Good memories
Was at this show..Ws one of the BEST shows EVER, I happened to be in the pit this night..was sooo sore, especially as I'd been in the pit the night before.
This is from a documentary that was never released, that covers parts of the tour in asia and australia, I saw some videos long ago and I could swear I had favorited them, but I can't find them anymore...
Someone had uploaded them, in a series, the first one of them showed them in airplane, then Ed on a japanese hotel, then a show with them playing I got Id, another one showed Eddie singin throw your arms around me in Australia, can ANYONE tell me a link or way to those videos? Pretty please!
Pearl Jam Monday 6th March 1995 in Perth Entertainment Centre.. looking at the photo of me rocking the (air) guitar in front of the poster.. it was making me crazy.. lived in Perth for 3 months & had to go back to Europe just 3 weeks before the concert!!
Wow, you're totally wrong. Matt was in Soundgarden at this time (1995), and didn't join the band until 1998. This is definately Jack Irons, who toured with the band from 1995-1998 and recorded No Code and Yield.
Mike has changed alot over the years, i mean first he was skinny as hell then towards the late 90's he got really chubby and now he's back to being skinny
Was at this gig..My 2nd PJ gig ever...This was TOTALLY One of the best nights of my life ans watching this TOTALLY brought back a shit load of great memories...love reliving it..thanks so much for posting this..PJ 4EVER!!!
