they were pretty fast to make such a *proper* announcement in multiple languages on the speaker system. i was suprised they can get multi-lingual announcers on the speakers that fast.
also, please be watchful for falling debris, trees, cracking sidewalks or streets, flying mickey or minnie mouses. on behalf of DisneyWorld and Mickey and Minnie Mouse, thanks for visiting and please come again!!!
In Japan they are used to earthquakes, but not at this magnitude so they knew something was wrong immediately. Here in the US, we don't have constant earth tremors so it would be no surprise if we panicked. We don't have the experience nor the preparations the Japanese do.
Just read that the parks will be closed for the next ten days. There are still a few thousand guests there, stranded due to the ruined transports, the parking lot flooded and the sad fact that some come from areas that no longer exist thanks to the tusnami.
The Japanese mindset never ceases to amaze me. If this had happened in California, I dare say you'd be seeing people running left and right but they take this pretty calmly, the cast members right on top of things keeping order. Goes to prove how this nation will bounce back from all this realtively well.
I love how all the people stayed calm. I can just imagine in the USA it would have been out right panic and chaos. Good on Disney and the cast members.
Well. I think that you found the best place in Japan to be for that aweful earthquake! A nice, open area at Disneyland! I love how calm everyone was. I cringe to think how people would react in that same situation at Disneyland in California....
Wow! That must have been a surreal experience. We would love to talk to you about it on our Disney podcast Disneybrit if you were interested. If so, email us at disneybrit@hotmailcom.
@TheHunterbear They usually shut down all the rides and make sure that no major damage has been made to the buildings OR the park guests. Then once they give the "all clear" they just let people back onto the safe rides lol (I don't live in japan but I've ad a good experience with the ones in California lol)
@rcfan042 oh wow. I thought they would close the whole park. I have never experienced a earthquake and i usually go to Disney World so i am use to hurricanes, not earthquakes.
@rcfan042 Well hopefully if the parks are closed for awhile Disney will take advantage of the time to do some good stuff in the parks (not that there is anything wrong with it now). I have also heard Disney is handing out bonuses to the cast members of Tokyo Disney and that they are donating money to the red cross.
@rcfan042 I know right. Disney is awesome!!! Or is it the oriental land company thats awesome since they run Tokyo Disney? IDK, but all that matters is what they are doing is great!!!
@TheHunterbear From what I've been reading @ Miceage, about 70,000 people across the whole resort was just stranded at the resort because the train line can't operate, and so they've been sheltering people in restaurants and stuff. From what I've heard, they have been feeding people and providing drinks. I read elsewhere that unless you can walk home, you pretty much have to stay where you're at already.
@TheHunterbear This is Japan not America. The people there don't necessarily "Freak Out", they are calm and controlled outwardly. When they do freak out outwardly, you should be very assured that danger is afoot.
As you can see in the video the people (the men in particular) were very concerned. Anyone that has lived in earthquake country you know when there is a big one, even when it is far away. You can tell that they knew something was not right.
If this happened to me I'll be crying out of fear. But i"ll just stay fucking calm
