Before I was a Christian I've heard this so many times, that I justified the way I was living and doing, believing I was saved because quote there is nothing I could do to add to my salvation as the preacher said. Well , I did believe since a child, but I had no relationship with my Lord until 29. This is the way most preacher-teacher explain Eph.2:8-9 9as you did here) but it's only half of the exposition.
Very good, I've heard this so many times on Christian radio, but never understood it, until one day I was studying "the perfect law of liberty", 'the royal law". Every kingdom has it's laws and in the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ we are not without a law. We still have commandments to obey. But we obey not out of a legalistic obligation like in the O.T. we obey out of a disposition of the heart - how is heart toward God. In Christ we are free or outside of Christ people are captives to sin.
hey im saved. But i nailed my hot neighbors wife the other night. hes out of town for a couple more days and I cant stop hitting it. Am I still saved? I mean am I still going to heaven?
@bango56 but im saved! i mean i've been born again threw the saving grace of christ. He is my lord and savior. By his grace I am saved. My works are like filthy rags. I'm going to go smoke a joint and pray for you. If you think works have anything to do with salvation then your not going to heaven.
Even if you do not believe works are necessary, are you saying that the Lord's sacrifice was meaningless? He suffered every pain and anguish for us because he loved each and every one of us. Can we show him that we love him if we idly sit around and do nothing to help our fellow brethren in their time of need when He so humbly saved us from the condemnation of our own sins? Faith is reflected by the desires of our hearts. If we have faith, we desire and strive to become more like Him everyday.=)
Nice earings. But Ephesians is speaking of initial salvation which no man or amount of works can merit; after we are adopted as sons of God then we are expected to do good works which God has generously chosen to justify us by, and by faith.
Such misunderstanding of James. James Chapter 2 was talking about how a "man" could see faith (which can only be observed by works) MEN cannot see inside another man's heart or see the intention of the heart...A man cannot see another man's faith...ONLY GOD CAN SEE A MAN'S FAITH.
The Bible is clear: there is nothing we can do to save ourselves--it is the gift of God.
thanks for the vid. people need to hear the good news, no the new ways. IT is finished. If righteousness comes from the law then Christ has died in vain
@ComeHomeCatholics No, you are wrong. We are justified by faith and the works which is the by-product of faith justifies our conversion. Try watching the video before commenting. Why dont you come home to Christ and leave Catholicism?
@ComeHomeCatholics james was writen before the council of jerusalem. second it was written to the Jews. third.. Peter james and John who "seemed to be pillars" Paul was revealed more than all others combined, and He was chosen to deliver the good news to the gentiles.
@ all Catholics If you are justified by faith and works, then you don't know if you are saved or not till you die, second, if it is so, Jesus work on the cross isn't finished. BY ONE MANS OBEDIENCE MANY ARE MADE RIGHTEOUS. Catholics, don't even start.. who killed, burned alive, most people on the earth in the name of God? Who wrote Canon law which states, if one thinks He is justified by faith alone let him be anathema? which is totally against Paul,. who was revealed, taught by Christ, ?
Preach it Bro!!!

We are saved by faith plus nothing else.

Keep making disciples!
Good teaching!
James 2:14 could also be talking about an unsaved person only claiming to have faith.

@97Wildfire scripture states that the works are the by-product of conversion. If their faith is genuine then they are going to please the Lord
