  • Admittedly I did not watch the video, as theology and religion are much too painful for me to sit through. However the title did catch my eye, as I have often thought of "Judeo-Christian" as an oxymoron. I say that because as I understand it, the key to Christian identity is the acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior, which is completely rejected by Judaism. Can anyone please explain in layman's terms how these two religions can ever be paired?

  • I am not familiar with the resurrection of Krishna. Krishna was born in the Lunar month of Sravana, which is August-September in the Gregorian calendar, His mother had 7 children before Him, which meant that she was not a virgin. The only connection I can see with the sun is that Krishna is considered to be an Avatar of Vishnu, a solar deity that later became identified as the head of the Hindu Trinity, and the One True God among monotheistic Hindus.

  • So your entire hypothesis depends on ignoring the fact that English is the only language where Sun and Son sound the same, and that crucifixion was a common method of Roman execution for troublemakers and political dissidents (which Jesus was).

  • Yeshuaha (christ was not born on december 25 and real christian knows this you can throw what they say about christ out he was born in spring or fall when they were harvesting the sheep

  • Cont'd from below... recorded in 66 books in Hebrew, and translated by 100's of scholars (New Internat'l Version). I think that those who have contempt for Christianity may hate it because of bad "Christians"-and/or, possibly hate Christianity because it's restricting to bad behavior. Either way, there are many "Christian" hypocrites. But condemning Christianity is misplaced and this clip and various comments aren't accurate in regards to the Holy Bible.

  • So many "facts" wrong with this about Christianity but seems RBG doesn't realize it. Sun and son are pronounced the same in English but not in any other language-wouldn't make any sense if it was argued in another language. Where in the Holy Bible does it state that 12/ 25 was Jesus' dob, or a white slave master? This clip doesn't hold water in regards to Christianity, which is a theological ideology that's been in existence for 1000's of years... continued

  • I do believe there was a jesus that lived, taught and enlightened people and those messages of enlightment like brotherhood, love, giving, sharing and Oneness are what I embrace from books like the bible BUT I have always thought that alot of mythology was tacked onto Jesus' story to make him look more mighty then he was. I never really believe his mother was a virgin and all that jazz, I have known the story of Horus for a while now. Anyway this stuff is really interesting.

  • All hail Cthulu

  • its not a myth you atheist ass holes

  • @TheRivetthead Mythology - A traditional, typically ancient story dealing with supernatural beings, ancestors, or heroes that serves as a fundamental type in the worldview of a people, as by explaining aspects of the natural world or delineating the psychology, customs, or ideals of society.

    Christianity is mythology.

  • @MugiwaraJr no its not you dildo

  • @TheRivetthead It follows the definition and just because you're in denial doesn't mean you have to be so butt hurt about it. Even this jesus fellow wasn't real so you saying it's more than myhtology is just insulting your own intelligence.

  • @EganForNevada Which christian denominations reject that claim?

  • @EganForNevada Which christian denominations reject that claim?

  • funny how christianity and all these religions are 2000 years and older....yet somehow only 2 of the religions in this video have made an everlasting impact on the entire planet.

something maybe happened to all the people worshipping these bird-gods and statues....maybe someone was mad and drowned the entire planet of all the paganism???

  • this is a very influential video, with a very influential voice. the way he talks makes you want to believe him...once he gets to Jesus' part he talks very rushed, like he's refuting it and wants you to believe it. Do your research people, none of this shit adds up. i stopped this video at least 20 times, going to google back and forth to find any hard evidence for this. NOTHING ADDS UP

  • as a christian i can't deny, this makes a strong argument. i've known for years that many things have tainted the christian faith. white jesus, depction of a crucified jesus on a cross(when God says have no graven image) and the cannonization of the scriptures. that's why you need the Spirit to understand the scriptures to see beyond the religion.

  • OVERSTAND THAT THE PROBABILITY, POSSIBILITY AND POTENTIALITY OF A PEOPLE RESIDES IN THEIR MYTHOLOGY...THE PROBLEM FOR ARRIKAN PEOPLE HAS BEEN ADAPTING A GREECO-ROMAN AND JUDO-CHRISTIAN MYTHOLOGICAL CONCEPTION--BY DEFINITION SUCH ADAPTATION CAUSE AFRIKAN SELF ALIENATION, PSYCHOLOGICAL INCARCERATION AND SPIRITUAL BANKRUPTCY-U CAN'T TELL? WE AS NEW AFRIKAN PEOPLE MUST USE OUR OWN MYTH STORIES IN ORDER TO SELF ACTUALIZE; AS INDIVIDUALS AND A COLLECTIVE...MY POINT, WHITE JESUS IS A SLAVEMASTER

  • @RBGStreetScholar shut up please

  • @RBGStreetScholar shut up ass

  • HAHAHHAHA YOU FUCKING STUPID ASSHOLES. How many times does this have to be refuted???? Do me a favour..check the sources on this shit....ok....now check who Hitler was influenced by... Coincidence? Oh and NOT ONE SINGLE SOURCE FOR THIS VIDEO IS PRE-CHRISTIAN. Hoax. I can't wait til He comes back...

  • Yahshua was turned into a solar messiah by Romans. From then on we knew him as Jesus. Yahshua was someone many of us would like and identify with. He was a total rebel that despised organized religion. He went ape shit on the money changers for pimping God and he taught a message that went against the Pharisees/Rabbinical law. He opposed religious control and thats why the Rabbinical hierarchy wanted him executed.

  • this sounds like one of those wildly speculative conspiracy theories... Note no reputable sources quoted, from which volume of research did this information come? Jesus was a real man in history, yet Horus was a fictional figure with a bird head.... i mean come on, really? is this being taken seriously by anyone? what a joke...

  • Real talk

  • But I will say one thing is correct - There are MANY many parts of ancient religions and texts from Egypt, the Mediterranean, etc, that are very similar in story, character, etc. Saying that they are similar doesn't disprove Christ. Doesn't disprove other religions either! Many flood stories exist. Some don't use the translated name "Noah," but they could all be the SAME story of a true event, written years later and with names from whatever religion the writer held....

  • @mallad

    Exactly!

  • Here's the problem - Not only are most of your 'facts' about those other religious figures INCORRECT, Even your Christian theology is incorrect. Who cares if anyone's birthday is December 25? Jesus was NOT born on the 25th. Christmas was moved to Dec. 25th to help stop a pagan festival that took place that day. Christians were good all year until that festival. moving the date of celebration kept them together. Read some real mythology, not Wikipedia. Your facts about Horus, et al, are wrong too

  • @mallad

How does a fictional character have a "real" birthday Mallad? There are ZERO historical references to jesus, and the scriptures are clearly derivative, inconsistent internally and also with the other scriptures (which again are largely based on each other). Never mind, I'm sure we should trust a church which happily piggybacks onto other existing holidays in order to help convert the populace.

  • @horsevet "ZERO historical references to jesus.." uh there is more historical record for Jesus than there is for Julius Ceasar. You can just make stuff up dipshit

  • you guys getting this all wrong, in the old testament, God foreshadowed the coming of Jesus. All the other religions came from the prophesies of those in the Bible about Jesus. I don't know if the astrology stuff is true, but if it is, it just shows me how marvelous God is that he even wrote the story in the stars He created. Praise God!

  • Very interesting. However this does not disprove anything. Merely raises darn good questions. Why are such parallels clear?

Many are there, but the 25th of December is NOT the actual birth of christ. Just a convenient date set on it many MANY years after He died. This removes all the astrological parallels that rely on this time.

    But many more parallels remain.

  • and this information is largely disputed. But I do not believe in christianity because someone proved to me that Christ was dissimilar to any made-up deities. I believe in christianity because I've personally seen the effect it has on others, and have seen it's effect on me.

This merely shows that God is on the minds of many. And He has offered one way to heaven that is a gift. Take it, or don't. Not because of history, but because of the present effects.

  • Comment removed

  • this simply proves that no matter what religion ultimately we all worship the same thing

  • this from Zeitgeist

  • long live the sun.

  • I think it is out of Zeitgeist and this documentation is very, how do i say it?, difficult. wiki or google it. controverse yeah thats it

  • Does anyone have any sources on this? It seems that this idea started with Gerald Massey however most egyptologists (read experts) dismiss his claims. Being so quick to hop on the bandwagon is making the same mistake as many religious folk which is swallowing anything as long as it reinforces your beliefs.

  • I love these comments. Your average Christian will let this sort of thing smack him straight in the face and then find the one piece of questionable information in order to dispel it all. I bet if there was solid, tangible, indisputable proof that Christianity is a web of mythology handed to them on a silver platter, they would still deny it to their dying breath. Poor people. I bet my pity is the same as the pity the delusional ones feel when they're sad for me that I'm "going to Hell."

  • I guess there was no sunlight before A.D. lol

  • Pahahahahahaha! This is funny! And it's funny how they use B.C.! You know BEFORE CHRIST! Another thing He wasn't born on December 25th! lol Get some facts BEFORE making an IGNORANT video! hahahahahahah

  • When you know how to use your and you're correctly I'll consider your arguments. Until then, I'm sorry but I disagree. The entire video is farce.

  • hahhahahahah this is fake,

  • @ggNATAKUgg all mythology is fake, so in that respect you are correct

  • also, trying to turn the phrase "the glory of god" is a bit strange. it really didn't have any relation to the sun. crown of thorns as sun rays is a bit of a stretch too.

I would say aside from those few errors, relatively good work. Consider citing a source and providing more background information about the compartive religions rather than showing an analogy and focussing entirely on Christianity from thereonout.

  • The cross was never intended to be a symbol of Chrstianity untill after he was crucified, in addition, the art was depicted in that manner because of the particular artistic styles of that time period. If you notice during the humanistic period of art, the "golden crosses/halos" begin to fade. Jesus is also not the only one with a cross behind his head in art, but also anyone deemed a Saint by the Medieval Catholic Church.

  • I find a couple errors of assumption in the video. the character M for the astrological sign is not the same as the swahili and sanskrit character for the pronunciation of that letter. Also these cultures are far removed by geography at the particular timings noted in the video. I find this to be a somewhat egregious error especially considering the video relies upon a shared analogy to disprove uniqueness of the Christian myth.

  • @tanders400 How far are these cultures removed from geographically? The video mentions India, as well as the area that was occupied by the Roman and afterwords, Byzantine empires. If the video mentioned say, Japanese mythology then I think it would be an issue worth raising. Considering that the countries mentioned are Indo-European based I would say that it's not that much of an egregious error.

  • @imrepohl the problem is the giant land mass in between greece and india known as china, as well as the himilayans. It made travel extremely difficult, thus the need for columbus to find a way to sail east to get west. Even today it is not a route well traveled by land. This is what i meant by geographical isolation.

  • @tanders400 Sorry, am I missing something here? India and China certainly are separated by the Himalayas. But geographically this happens to the north of India, if you look a little to the east you will see modern-day Pakistan, Afghanistan and then Iran. I'm struggling to see how China could separate India and GREECE, which is in the Mediterranean. The video also mentions a Persian god, which would explain the link between religions based in the med and through to India.

  • @tanders400

Have you never heard of the Silk Road? The main trade route between China and the Middle East ran across India, Pakistan and PERSIA. The Persian Empire at one point stretched from the Dardanelles to the Indus river, providing a link between the two. And China extends further East than the Himalayas.

Anyway, the video's argument holds true - the religions could have developed independently, because they have a common basis in astrological observations.

  • @imrepohl

These cultures shared enormous amounts of information, technology, myths, agrarian practices (which are dependant on using Sun and stars movements to predict planting and harvest times: something well worth worshipping.) They also occurred over thousands of years, sometimes overlapping or succeeding each other. Numerous empires covered this territory, and introduced and spread various religions/myths. Christianity/Western imperialism is just the latest in a long line.

  • also, there exists a few theories that the holy days where aligned due to governemtnal issues, for instance it would be easy to find a christian if they didnt go to work on a monday instead of a sunday.

  • I DO believe----------that a house of god is jest a

business and the catholic,s have cashed in -------we are all sheep ----------

  • Why is this video called dispelling the myth of judeo-christian mythology when it pretty much proves its a myth?

  • It dispells the "legitimacy" of the myth.

  • So I've watched the entire zeitgeist movie, and it could have been a lot shorter.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not willing?

    Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing?

    Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able, and willing?

    Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing?

Then why call him God." -Epicurus

  • We can not rely on God to solve our problems; only ourselves. I am an Atheist and I personally see this argument as flawed. By Christian meaning, you are a sinner as well. We are all inherently sinners, and thus all inherently evil. By that logic, if you want God to prevent evil, then you'd be wanting him to prevent you from existing. God gives the free will to act evilly or to prevent evil; humans are the reason why evil exists and why it cant' be stopped unless we act.

  • you have your facts mixed up greatly. funny also how jesus' disciples traveled to all of the places you describe to have similar stories...

  • @chefrodgers damn your retarded kid, check the time dates underneath, most of the stories are hundreds if not thousands of years pre-existing to the christian bed time story

  • kinda interesting eh, now i know wky Nietzche said GOD is dead..lol

  • lol religion just got raaaaaaaped

  • @zackary1616 lol. yes

  • Continuation of last comment...

This was taken from the first third of the movie Zeitgeist.

If you look at old text regarding these gods presented, none of these "facts" line up with what is actually stated in the the texts themselves. They are trying to debunk Christianity with lies, because they know noone will actually take the time to look into themselves. People are gullible and take whatever is thrown at them as truth.

  • @ngtechie:

I researched it, and it is 100% true. This guy definitely fucks up some information, like the Horus vs Set thing, but the characteristics are all true. Maybe you should do some research, the bibliography for all his sources for this stuff is on the movie's website.

    Research.

  • Obviously you haven't as you would know that the statements I made were true rebuking 2 of the "100% true" "facts" that you state the video is making.

If I had the space to explain it to you with the remaining alloted characters, I will prove to you that this is utter bullshit.

    Instead, I will leave you to believe what you want;

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

  • @ngtechie Leviticus 19:19 - Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material. such a horrible horrible sin.

  • @ngtechie "People are gullible and take whatever is thrown at them as truth. " hence the prevalence of christianity

  • You make an interesting point, however trying to prove something is wrong with blatant lies that will alter someone's beliefs is wrong as well.

I personally believe you are accountable for what you say and do. Therefore, in my beliefs (Christian beliefs). Lying to someone to change there mind about what they believe is right will bring consequences, and without repentance, eternity in hell.

Call me a hypocrite or whatever you like. I'm not trying to convert you but this whole thing is wrong.

  • It saddens me that no one really researches the crap they find on youtube and automatically consider it truth. Do your research people.

Bible doesn't say anything about 3 wise men only that their were 3 gifts presented at Christ's birth.

Bible doesn't state a date of Christ's birth. The Roman Catholics put that as a date many centuries after the gospels were written to trump pagan yule. The shepherds were in the field at the time of his birth which puts it around October instead.

    Research

  • @ngtechie

I guess it all depends on which version of gods word, his infallible word, that is represented by the bible, you decide to read. If there was just one true god, one word, one source for moral rights and wrongs... wouldn't that also imply there would only be one religion? If people were only given one source for his word, where did the other religions come from? Oh... wait... did the devil do it? The great copout for all lies the bible provides.

  • Matthew 2 and maybe Isaiah 60.

NEVERTHELESS, if only 1 of the 39 in the video follows the Jesus-mythos and pre-dates it, it is pretty clear that Christian beliefs are false.

Additionally, the bible itself is a lie. The anthology was compiled by random guys in synod hundreds of years *after* Jesus the son of GOD...

Not to mention, according to BIBLICAL genealogy, Life, the Universe, and Everything was created a few thousand years ago.

    Research.

  • @ngtechie

Matthew 2 v.1 lists both wise men and three gifts. I presume you were looking at Luke.

In addition, it's well known that the date Dec 25th is not mentioned in the Bible, but it IS used in the religion, making it a valid point. Why use Dec 25th, anyway? Because it had pagan significance and so was a link to pre-existing religions that Catholicism was attempting to replace. The point stands - the common link between many of these religions is grounded in pagan sun worship.

  • @Meggiddo89 Not sure what bible you are reading but the KJVersion of the bible reads Matthew 2:1 like this

1Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. No where do I see the number three in that verse or in any other verse in that chapter.

December 25th was a pagan holiday. Roman Catholics didn't have a date or time of his birth either, therefore they chose December 25th for easier conversion of pagans.

  • @ngtechie your statement "there came wise men" is another way of saying "three kings" I know plenty of christians and some say kings, some say wise men. but I do agree with you on the second part, it was in fact a previous holiday, and was changed for purposes of conveniency.

  • @ngtechie

Son of God born! Angels attend! No one bothers to write down the date. Very organised. Must be true.

  • MIND FUCK

  • I always figured that Jesus and all religion was mythology. Similiar to worshipping Zeus or Apollo or Mars or whatever.

  • @wavyinfinity of course did you really think religions differed from each other?

  • Rabbi Moshe M. Maggal, President, National Jewish Info Service wrote:

"We consider the two religions so different that one excludes the other, we emphasized that there is no such thing as a Judeo-Christian religion. (Letter of August 21, 1961). The London Jewish World of March 15, 1923 declared: "Fundamentally, Judaism is anti-Christian."

    Rabbi Martin Siegel:

'Christianity will be the vehicle through which this society becomes Jewish" ( NY Magazine, Jan. 18, 1972, p32

  • @wavyinfinity all myths are mankinds attempt to put one of many masks on the One eternal intelligent designer

  • @wavyinfinity there is a real Jesus but His real name is Yahushuah; the one pertained to in the old testament as the coming King. It's just so amazing How a Great God has written His life story even through the stars! remember that we have an enemy here who's the master of deception and his work was always to create an impostor like himself, who wanted to be like God the Creator. He knows the word of God and made it sure that people get confused with his impostors.

  • @wandawomanofgod Brainwashed. As long as you keep it to yourself, the world will be a better place. God wrote His story? Where is it? As Jesus, we don't know anything about his 30 years, or even his name! How did that go wrong? And you infer the devil is an impostor, who wanted to be like God? Lol. And your God cannot do (won't do) anything about it? Your God created man to 'think himself stupid...' That's not a God I accept or relate to. You silly person.

  • @wandawomanofgod no better way to confuse people than by making duplicate imposters to the real thing and mixing the truth with lies. it's occurs in so many things even with the comparison of islam to the judeo-christian faith. this video just shows how much distortion is out there to cover the real thing, easter and christmas are both pagan holidays mixed with the truth and lies. Not the Messiah and winter birth or resurrection and bunnies. The Book God has given seperates truth from lies. ;)

  • @wavyinfinity Well, Question is are there reasons to accept the Faith of Christ? Was the person of Christ different? and you need to provide historical evidence for the claims that Christianity is nothing more then plagiarism and contains nothing unique

  • There we have it, ladies and gentlemen, now lets concerntrate on what's real. UHURU!

  • @73gweks Myths are not to be taken as real. they are metaphor for teaching morals.

  • @DurgaShanti I think you have missed the point I was trying to make. I am not implying that Myths are real, but the sistuation we find ourselves in today society is real. The religions of the world has left many of us slaves to the faith and once we realised the truth, we will be freed from mental slavery. We are all aware of the metaphor, but unfortunately they have been used to keep my people confused & brainwased to what is real! UHURU

  • @DurgaShanti so Jesus too, must be taken literally. Then comes to question: did he exist?

  • @mr41ststreet Whether he existed or not, somebody had to start the religion. If it wasn't Jesus, who was it?

  • @markocska94 constantine..Council of Nicea...research it.

  • @mr41ststreet Constantine was a Roman pagan but during his time, Christianity was rising fast. He felt Christianity was a threat to the Roman empire, therefore, he combined the two. That's why, around 300 AD, Christianity changed so much. Research it

  • @markocska94 I agree.
