If you want I send you a truck full of Klementiner, in Brazil this fruit is very common in my home I have a tree of Klementiner. ...........Elsker Norsk
sounds like you celebrate Christmas by eating everything that can't be produced in Norway! we call that drink mulled wine, and the process mulling. especially good with apple juice! happy christmas from canada, where we have no traditions in common and instead get to search the world for fun things to do to celebrate.
flaut! hva tror dere resten av verden tenker om norge nå?... elendig video! på slutten er det en samling av bloopers, men egenklig er hele filmen en blooper. tenk at over 13 000 har sett dere ødlegge norsk jul...
Hehehe... that was funny! Norwegian American here! Never been to Norway, but I am hoping to come in 2011. Alt for Norge!! Cuties... I hope to find one when I go over there!
Those traditions they're showing isn't that usual up here in Finnmark I think... It's not that much gløgg and klementiner, at least not in my family. You didn't mention that we open our christmas presents on christmas eve and not boxer's day.
i've got one question for you.. this is embarrassing for me as a norwegian to watch.. skjønner ikke hvorfor jeg skriver det på engelsk engang.. men lol, fint at dere viser norske tradisjoner rundt til resten av verden da :)
The glug reminds me of Gluwein in German and Germany....which is very good!! Gluwein is also a Christmas drink in Germany....well, minus the mix you put in it ;)
i hope you guys don't think of America as some better place because you guys already live there. Norway has the highest standard of living in the entire world.
@ModernVikingSaga Tastes weird. Quite spicy and at the same time sweet. Also, you are supposed to mix it with whine I believe, though that tastes like shit IMO.
@megrune94 ggnog, or egg nog, is a sweetened dairy-based beverage traditionally made with milk and/or cream, sugar, beaten eggs (which gives it a frothy texture), and liquor. Brandy, rum, moonshine, or whisky is sometimes added; and the finished serving would be garnished with a sprinkling of ground cinnamon or nutmeg.
I drink both gløgg and tomtebrygg. And, of course, Løitens linje Aquavit.
@merlechmoose Tomtebrygg is enjoyable in small amounts I have to admit.. Løiten Akevitt (Aquavit) was kind of new to me though ^^ And I live 20 minutes away from Løten/Løiten xD
In Italy we have something very similar to nordic gløgg, called "vin brulé" (mulled wine). As the word says, we only use wine, mixed with sugar and spices (whatever you like), heat it a lot and drink. The heating lets the most of the alcohol evaporate, so it's definitely not strong. Someone even give it to children! Just some of course :)
Will any red wine do for this? I've never mulled red wine, but I always get mulling spices that I never use whenever I buy mead. I'd like to try this after I finish my finals.
oh wow :D Thatas awesome :D yes we have Pinnekjøtt during christmas aswell, its really salt, i love it! Maybe you will have kolrabistappe aswell? My favorite!
Like I have said before, you are intoxicating... You must be very proud of your heritage. I work here in Boston were I very rarely run into anyone from Norway, or even those with heritage. The only time that I did they seemed so ashamed and only wished to talk about America. It was sad. I have Norwegian ancestory, and most of my family that carried tradition has passed. I hope to see Norway someday soon as I am finished with my education in a few weeks. Thank you for your videos K!
why would anyone be ashamed to have norwegian hertiage? i can't even see why they would think that. what has norwegians ever done bad? lol well perhaps the vikings lol
I'm an exchange student in Kristiansand from the US and I'm loving the holiday traditions here. Especially, risgrøt with the almond hidden inside with some julebrus! Very delicious!
PS- disregarding your shirt, you look a lot like Hayley Williams!! Ahh!
When I was in grade 4, I had to do a report on Norway. I remember reading that Norwegians wore Christmas hats with candles on them and put candles on their Christmas tree. Is that true, or is my memory finally failing me at 33 years old? Oh, and I wanted to ask you if Norwegians really eat lefse, or just us Norwegian Americans. Lefse making is like a contest in our family. If you make bad lefse in my family, you are just not a good person....lol! But I bet they don't eat it in Norway anymore.
sure we eat lefse! Absolutely! In my family its my great grandmother who makes them! I sad to say that it might die out, since the old once are the once who know how to make it..
And candles on the hat, is on the 13th of desember. Lucia. Its pretty :D
Lights on out tree yes, (not real canldes, just electric). Dont you do that?
OK...for sure you have to make a video with candles on your hat! That does sound pretty, but scary. We use Christmas lights on our tree, but they aren't candle-like. My grandmother just passed away, so now I am the best lefse maker in the family! And I found out that our family still has a farm in Norway! Big one too, and I guess I am welcome to stay. It is in a place called Valdres. Is that super country????
Weird! xD I want gingerbread cookies! Do you have fireworks on Christmas eve or something? In Uruguay we would spend christmas at the beach, cause it was plain summer! So cool!
Sorry, Karin. I wanted to ask you. I've heard that Norway is very expensive. Could you tell me some prices in euro? I'd like to visit it, but I have no idea about prices in Norway. :(
well, I dont know acautlly. I work part time at a school and eearn 15 euro every hour.. But everything here is SOOOO expencieve so its not like its ALOT :P
@Lyarchik: I spend holidays this summer in Norway (look to my vids) and I can give you some prices: 1 loaf of bread + 1 pack of cheese and salami = 12,-Euro. A night in a cabin: southcoast 120,--, in the mountains 50,- Eur. 1 Ltr. Diesel 1,50. You are from Italia? The prices are as like as the prices in Italias tourists areas I think. For Germans Norway is a little bit more expensive. But it is a very beautiful country and the people there are very friendly (most of them can speak English).
