  • Awesome Phi!

    Just freakin awsome!

  • i'm afraid to attend a keaggy concert for fear of crapping my pants in the presence of his awesomeness...

    1 misclick

  • I hadn't seen Phil in a long time, and his looks have changed so dramatically! With that hat ,the white beard and all, he looks like an old sea captain up there jammin out! lol Still a tremendous talent just looks strange...

  • Phil was referring to the fact that he WAS in a restaurant. The seminar was in a separate room, but the rest of the restaurant was just operating normally, and the tune got pretty loud.

  • how is this not what to play in a restaurant?

  • Shit yea! Phils a badass....

  • Love celtic and Irish music

  • who the ***** house was that noob

  • I have the pleasure of seeing him next week

  • Well Phil, If you ever need a drummer, please call me! Love it!! :)

  • This is really great!!

  • I watched again

    Wow!

There is no other who can play this awesome song the same.

You dude Phil Keaggy are freakin

    AWESOME!!!!

    WOW!

  • Truly Blessed is he and me for being able to watched i have set my goal to an almost impossible reach and that is to be as good or better than Phil, but i don't think that is going to happen because he gets older and better at the same time.

  • Who else can play this?

    God has blessed this man.

    Who can argue?

    He plays for the Lord.

    I am awed!

Please not only tell me but show me.

    Who can play like this?

I am searching for God and Man.

    Who ios the best?

  • i saw phil keaggy on easter

he was amazing and i really like his music

  • Today I found out about Phil Keaggy. Never knew such a talented and reknown guitarist existed before now. A month ago, I rededicated my life to Jesus and was Baptized at my new church. It seems that I am in the presence now and will be in glory with some amazing artists. No coincidents, I shall try to pick up the guitar again.

  • Watch phil keaggy ebow.

  • OMG!! This might be the best of Phil I've seen on Youtbe, it's mindblowin!

  • This guy is amazing !

Phil Keaggy, getting older and getting better at the same time !

I like how he push his voice to the limit when he singing, it needs a lot of heart and a lot of courage to do that.

Cheer Sir Keaggy ! May God Bless You and everybody who listen to your music !

  • I've seen Phil in big arenas and small churches, but I never dreamed it was possible to see him in a venue as intimate as this. Those people were in the presence of a legend and seemed to have no idea how fortunate they were.

  • "seemed to have no idea how fortunate they were" - I don't think you can say. What do you expect them to do, fall at his feet like he's their savior?

  • Falling at his feet is quite an exaggeration from what Broknrism was saying. gj though.

  • yea sorry. was being abit bitchy. not like me...

  • this guy is the master of percussive guitar noises.

  • he sounds so much like paul mccartney

  • Just leave the guy alone and let Him play his music. He is possibly the best musician ever.

I have been to sea to shining sea.Christian and non christian. This Phil Keaggy is amonst,if not the best "ever" guitarist.Yet Completely humble.Don't judge this dude.Just listen.I for one am glad that He is a great American guitarist!

  • Best song EVER!

  • Well, this song is not one of Phils bests. Its sort of a compilation of Salvation Army Band and John the Revelator. Its just ok.

  • Phil's Christian audience in this video is as usual, lame in their response to one of the world's top guitarists!! I'd love for Phil to get secular attention. Then he'd get proper applause. Can you imagine Keaggy and Carlos Santanna doin' a jam?! Been followin' Keaggy since '75

  • he's pretty awesome, but i cant get over the fact that he's part of the right wing evangelical movement. that's a deal breaker.

  • Phil believes that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. He's not a part of any movement other than the movement that believes that all people everywhere should acknowledge what they know is true in their hearts: that all have sinned, that is broken God's laws. And than do what God requires for the forgiveness of sin: believe the good news that Jesus is the "Lamb of God" who takes away the sins of the world. If that's a deal breaker regarding Phil's talents Phil wouold say so be it.

  • we're all entitled to our opinions. i just think that he's limiting his audience. which is fine, he can sing about whatever he wants. i just think that religious music is inaccesible to the non-religious. think if you were not a christian, say a muslim, or a jew, or an agnostic, etc... how would explicitly religious lyrics appeal to you? i don't think they would. But again, se la vie. I wish him well.

  • I am not a professing Christian. However at one time I was one. That was when I was introduced to Phil's music. I have found that what he says lyrically when combined with his great musicianship is still enjoyable. I say this while having over 50+ albums of his solo work and also Glass Harp. I have found that I respect him immensely. I saw an interview where he said and I am paraphrasing "my music may not be your cup of tea at the moment, but at least it is honest"

    I respect that.

  • His music reveals the workmanship that he has put into it. It is not ad nauseum bubblegum pop that you quickly forget. It is honest. Phil's biggest drawback is that he is short of stature, happily married, balding, and given to singing songs about life and love of family. That does not translate to great renown or record sales to the general public. He is difficult to "package" by a record company. I personally think that his current direction is right on, in regard to being independent.

  • I disagree with the idea that because of his religious views that would prohibit his music from being positively received. There are a lot of artists that have views that I dont agree with whose music I enjoy. I enjoy their musicianship apart from their views, lifestyle, etc. Phil is truly a niche artist.

I think it would be interesting to hear some of his music in filmwork. His music would be excellent in that venue. Phil is truly one of the most well rounded musicians we have today.

  • Well put. I know of several secular musicians that are fans of Keaggy. Jimmi Hendrix was, Eric Clapton is. He is the most mimicked guitarist alive, and the most respected among both believing and non-believing players. His music is about life, it's real, and so I think it appeals to all audiences. Glass harp fans, though, I've heard were dismayed when he gave his life to Christ, but his band members still hang out with him a lot. Great guy, excellent musician, praise God he knows Jesus.

  • Man, I've never seen anyone rock out a solo like that on an acoustic guitar, even with light strings. Wow, I'm more impressed with this man with every song I hear. WOW

  • Anyone know what album this song is from?

  • his self titled album "Phil Keaggy" ...excellent disc, btw.

  • Lucky! I want to see Switzerland. Europe has dozens of technological and musical wizards, so he fits right in! Good song, too!

  • GREAT!!!

    FANTASTIC!!!

  • i love the way he asks "was that ok?" at the end. hahaha

  • This is one of the best videos I've ever watched in my entire life! I guess because the guy is older, but He just has this energy I've never seen before in front of a small audience.Awesome!

  • He has so much energy because he is playing for the music and not the attention. A true musician.

  • Tonight I heard Philly Live and just had to look him up on UTube. Can't get over the similarities to Paul MaCartney, even some of his manerisms..fairdinkum check that out. GrEaT Muso...Love his great musicianship.

  • I think this is why America is the most progressive country when it comes to music. Keep in mind that most of Europe is stuck back in the early days of John Denver. That is when Mr. Keaggy would've been in his young 20's. Give them a couple years (or a decade) and they'll come around, haha. One additional problem, Germans, Austrians, and the Swiss (at least in German speaking Switzerland) prefer songs in 3, and I'm not entirely joking (it's generally true).

  • Phils still the best!!!!!!

    God Bless Phil

    Nik

  • He gets a sweet, thumpy low end that I really like!

    Great musician!

  • Wow... blown away.

    Just, wow.

  • He hasn't got the manliest voice, but he's great anyway.. and no, I don't know why I had to say that.

  • the man is 5 foot nothing, i don't expect much of a deep voice to come resonating out...

  • I can only assume that these persons watching are first time introduced to the rock guitar. On top of that, they must be obliviuos to rock and American culture. This guy Phil Keaggy is not a beginner.I have to wonder if its the Swiss culture not to bob the head or shake the leg.I watch this video in awe.I have to shake my leg and bob my head.I'm sure these are good people. But how in the world can they not show emotion?

  • Haha! That's exactly what I thought!

  • It could also be that the Swiss are a more reserved 'people' than Americans. We are pretty loud and can be obnoxious.

  • This makes me mad every time I watch it! Which is a lot. They clap like it is just because they have to do it. C'mon....workshop or no workshop.

  • His self titled album "Phil Keaggy" track 8

  • Phil's just too much, lmao

  • is he using distortion on an acustic guitar?

  • that guitar was smoking!!

  • Bloody hell, looks like he is performing at a job interview for an office! Are they trying to stare him down or something?

  • awesome,GOD inspired.

  • Holy Crap!! I never heard anyone rock an acoustic like that before! Awesome!

  • I agree with crazyawsomeguy.

I don't care if it was a workshop or not.

    These people are ZOMBIES!

How can you not freakin shake your leg of head? This guy is good! What kind of real people can sit straight through this brillant performance? Their ZOMBIES I tell you. This guy freaked them out! Totally! They are not normal people if they can't freakin show some kind of human excitement.

  • Hey-what about the guy in the 1st row-

far(stage)right?HE was tappin' his foot-a LITTLE!No,you are right-these people must be brain-dead.I can't believe some o'these mooks sat on their hands after Phil

    finished!!How rude.This might not be one o'

Phil's best tunes-but at least he made some

attempt to rock out( with the help from a Looping device.)Anybody ever notice Phil is

missing 1/2 his middle finger on his right hand?Thathe can finger-pick the way he does

    is miraculous.

  • TOP DRAWER STUFF !it dont get no better! love bro. Phil.

  • wonderful!!!!!!!!!

  • what a shitty audience! i woulda been shoutin my head off!

  • it was not a concert - he was having a guitar workshop and was demonstrating some things so everyone in the audience was busy watching just how he did it (it was accompanied by an explanation on both sides of the music - not shown here.)

  • AMEN AMEN, His audience is always like that, workshop or not. Lets get some energy going. THis song ROCKS

  • Im starting to think that he is a Damn Extraterrestrial dude!!

    hahahaha

tooooooo many things in his head!!

THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER ON THE EARTH!!!!

    NO DOUBT...

    HAHAHAHH HE REALLY LOVES LOOPS

  • what a dead audience!!!!

  • It was a guitar workshop - not a concert

  • I'm steppin out of depression! You kick me! Praise God for you and your talent! Awesome.

  • Awesome!

  • This guy just don't need a band to play XD

  • He IS the band!

  • Acoustic instruments are more prone to feedback than electric instruments. The Route 66 is a compression/overdrive unit. Couple the pedal with an acoustic...

The guitar tone sounds like it has a lot of presence (high end), and chorus as well.

  • best guitarist on the planet...

  • He is the best on the planet..... i agree

  • Una vez más,magnifico.

  • this guy just sings too much!!!

    and plays with fire.....

  • Can somebody please tell me how he gets that electric guitar sound feedback from his acoustic guitar? I have never heard anything like that! I know he has a Route 66 distortion pedal, but i am not sure if that is what does it.

  • Through the years Phil has in fact helped chase the bad away! I know it is The Holy Spirit working through Phil....But what an edifying man.

  • Great acoustic performance! Phil is always ready to change and re-arrange every song as only he can do.

    (great route 66 too)
