real russian mosins from wwii er watever were supposed to be stiff so that they were more solid and accurate. dont see the point in that cause snipers would raise their heart rate just tring to pry the dam things open though...
yeah that does seem strange. That and those rifles converted to sniping had to have the bolts remachined so they were curved. once you get used to the feel you can cycle at a decent rate.
yea, although for a left handed sniper, a regular bolt might be a bit more easy to cycle, because you can, as either left or right handed, just reach over the reciever and use your left hand, and with an odd angle on the reg. bolts, it might be easier to do so...
I believe it's a post WW2 rifle, like you said. The date says "1948r". As for rounds, I use the 7.62x54r Hungarian surplus. Corrosive, but I've had no problem with it. I just simply clean it right when I get home. I'll probably buy some Remington commercial ammunition if I ever see how really accurate this thing can get.
I love mosin nagant because its one of the cheapest ww2 rifles!! :D

I'm not sure that Remington makes ammo for 7.62x54R but im pretty sure Winchester does, but believe me, surplus or handloading is the way to go
