Such a beautiful masterful piece of engineerng. Steam trains seem to "talk" with the noises they make. Just awesome to be standing next to them when they are hissing and snorting, ready to go. But personally, I think the Ka's look better without the aerodynamic cowling at the front. Looks to much like a brick like this.
I Think KA 949 Is Better But I Dunno. Until They Removed it in 1955 :*(

Wonderful restoration KA942 could not have been better when it was brand new. I used to keep her in steam in Taihape depot in 1965.
