The Austin Atlantic was a failure in the States as it was underpowered.
Undered that sleek body were the mechanicals of the rather stodgy Austin A70
In Britain the damp mud and slush in the winter played havoc with the body as there were several areas that were "mud traps' and held moisture and caused rust.
In Australia the public were less "HP obsessed" than the Americans then and our drier climate was kinder to these cars!
Modern "Top Gear" may well have gone too far into making a Show rather than being anything truly informative about cars but it certainly is better than this stilted, scripted effort from 20 tears ago! The lady..didn't last long as a presenter! As for the Austin, it was a car that at the time was important, different, built for the US market and was of course Record Breaking so whilst fairly average to drive, it deserves it's place in automotive history!
i hate this woman on old top gear, i seem to get the idea she didnt know alot about anything she was talking about in her reports more like reading it off a sheet of paper!

The styling is rather 'RETRO" these days!

The A90 sold reasonable well here in Australia.
My late uncle bought a converible, brand new, and kept it for many years.
He later put the car into storage for years and it was eventually sold to a collector who has now restored it to its beautiful best!
Great classic car!

@polskich
I agree!
Those three halfwits seem more interested destoying cars rather discussing them!
