The farmer was my fave 38 years ago. I swear he is why I love BlueGrass music to this day. Even at 5 his fiddle/banjo gave me goosebumps! And dang those toucans are adorable!!
So sweet and brilliant, how can anybody help but love the old Sesame Street? The people behind these litle songs/cartoons are truly gifts from God. Bless them all.
I remember this and all of the other fiddler clips - what about the one for 4 (lions)? Is that still on YouTube? If not, does anyone out there have it? Thanks in advance.
Anyone seen the animated short "Boundin" from pixar? Bud Lucky did that one as well. And it really sounds like the fiddler could have sung it as well. I'm a big fan of Bud's.
Sweet! I havn't seen this for 5 years as they used to play old re-runs on the TV channel NOGGIN (back when it was retro re-runs all night). Too bad they stoped showing anything good (old) now. Glad to see someone recorded this! Thanks :)
This guy sounds an awful lot like bluegrass singer, Doc Watson who happened to be at the height of his career at the time this was released. Didn't connect back when I was a kid watching this.
I loved this one! I like how the one toucan flexes his toes before they start dancing. Did anyone notice that Caribou and Moose are in the wrong sequence? "If 2 Toucan, 2 hairy Moose can..." This first pair are Caribou, the Moose are second. ;) 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2
bud luckey...WOW!!! What an impact he made on my learning years...what memories when I see these clips and now know who made them..."thanks Bud" is all that I can say
This is one of a whole series of number skits made by Bud Luckey for SS. He co-wrote the songs, sang them and did all the animation. He's now a head story guy at Pixar and made their short 'Boundin'.

Okay, I'm posting the text for Donny Bud's number 6 song:
Got a little song that I'd like you to know
It's got snails in it so it goes kinda slow
It's called: 6
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 snails...
Well, 6 tiny snails leaving 6 slimy trails,
6 slimy trails as shiny as nails
6 shiny nails with 6 silver tips
6 silky sails on 6 sailing ships
vrikey 4 years ago
(con't from above)
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ships...
Those 6 sailing ships met 6 spouting whales
That all get home to supper long before the snails
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 snails...
GET UP SNAILS! 1-2-3-4-5 ... 6!
(Can anyone find and post the cartoon?)
vrikey 4 years ago
I'd like to see the fiddler segments for 4 and 6 - I remember the words by heart, I'm tempted to post them unless someone can upload the cartoons.
here's a sample:
1-2-3-4 Four big lions just came through my door
1-2-3-4 Four big lions just sat on my floor

He said 'two hairy gnus', those are clearly gnus. :) the next ones were caribou enough, though they did look more like moose.
