  • I live in Minnesota and I find this very offensive.

  • this movie was filmed in my great state of north dakota not in minnesota get it right god damn

  • I can see Russia from this film :D

  • Fargo is one of those movies that get better for me every time I watch it, because I always notice something I didn't notice before, whether it be about the plot or something funny. Great movie.

  • I watched this last night after hearing about it since 1996 and all i got to say is this movie sucks! It was hard to listen to that cheezy accent and it just seemed like some kind of low budget movie to me!

  • @MissAmazanda Ok, I respect your feeling towards this movie. You obviously like big budget movies that's cramed with CGI to the point it'll make your eyes bleed. It seems instead of movies that took some creativity, your taste seems to aim towards movies that are "New" and "High Definition" Which is fine cause that's what most people like now a days. But do you know that some of the most successful movies were low budget? I can name you a list if you want...

  • @MissAmazanda Feel just like you cannot understand why it is amongst the best movies, the accent just kills it. The story is true but i feel the film is cheap.

  • hey this movie is based in North Dakota im from ND

  • im sure its a very good film, but the advert makes it look just like any other kooky american christmas comedy from the 90s.

  • WE STOP AT PANCAKES HOUSE

  • If anybody seriously believes this is how MINNESOTANS talk they are retarded, I facepalm whenever somebody types that Minnesotans talk like people from this movie...

  • You have failed to recognized Fargo is in North Dakota.

And this movie is a disgrace to Northerners. :l

  • haay welcome to Minn-esota.

  • Dis movie is guud, yah.

  • Yah

  • Fargo isn't in Minnesota ... Lol . Try north Dakota .

  • @MyKafkaesqueLife thanks man I'll definately check that out

  • This, No Country and Oh Brother - Coens' finest.

I'm guessing those that did't like it would have prefferred Vin Diesel to play Margie... ;)

  • They said that this movie should be awarded to the Best Picture ever, until The English Patient have won and they cheated this movie against Fargo.

    Same as

Dances with Wolves over against Goodfellas

Forrest Gump over against The Shawshank Redemption

Shakespeare with Love over against Saving Private Ryan

  • The ONLY Coen Brothers movie that I don't like.. I've seen it 3 times and I still can't understand the appeal. In my Opinion BURN AFTER READING is much Better, Because it's like Fargo but a MILLION TIMES more HILARIOUS! Even though Fargo did have Gorgeous Cinematography.

  • "He was a nice enough lookin' feller"..... "Don't cha know"

  • best intro scene ever.

  • I saw this movie today and it's very amazing well done movie! But of course there's only one word that people says YAY! That's an awesome movie! YAY!

  • i mean it's shit compared to all the hype. otherwise a mediocre movie. and don't tell me that i didn't understand the movie or know nothing about movies. people just overrate it

  • this movie is SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!

  • this movie was awesome and it had a very good moral

dont want to say it but people who have seen it will know

  • " kind funny lookin" Own all Coen Brother movies....there so great. Love the little details that you dont find at first. Such as the scene when francis is in her car and she is thinking about that asian guy scamming her, and how he was acting, and that reminded her of ned flanders acting very nervous when she first interviewed him at the car lot. People say that part (and others) are filler, but there what makes the movie.

  • That trailer is excellent.

  • after hearing so many good comments of how good this 'fargo' film is, ... a comedy?! a fucking COMEDY?!?!

  • oh yah... real good

  • Mr. Anderson was his name at the end of the film BRILLIANT! He tried to get away with all of it by a name change..little things like that make this film AMAZING and one of my favorites. The scene when steve buesemi's character comes to the log cabin after being shot..the dialog between him and his partner are sooo F**KIN HILARIOUS yet serious. I was laughin my ass off during that scene.... just sayin.. lol

  • 62 people, (including me) actually LIVE in Minnesota and know that people don't actually talk like that.

  • @MNTwinsGirl12 your going to give a thumbs down all because of the damn accent? Are you serious? Get your mind out of your ass and appreciate one of the best films of all time! You should be PROUD!

  • @MNTwinsGirl12 what are you talking about? I'm from minnesota, and my mom sounds exactly like that. I sound like that too, though not as bad. ya should be proud of are accents, don ch'ya agree?

  • They should have a remake starring Sarah Palin.

  • Nice movie. Masterpiece.

  • I can't believe that Frances McDormand stooped so low to appear in Transformers 3. Unbelievable! did she do it at the request of her grandkids (if she has one)?

  • William H. Macy would make a perfect Ned Flanders. The only thing missing is a moustache.

  • Great movie saw last night, loved it ya.

  • Great Movie YA

  • great movie

  • i also heard alot of hype prior to finally watching this movie..but i just didnt get into it and didnt think it was very good, main characters were very annoying and i just dont see what all the hype was about

  • Ok, hold on... I gotta stop my mouth from gaping anymore...

  • BARBARA JEANNNNNNNNNNNN

  • Peter Stormare is great as a walking explosive!

  • This movie was so stupid I'm from Fargo - Moorhead

  • @shyannstar oww yeaaah ? :DDDD

  • Oh Jeez!?!!?!Oh Yeaah???Yeah!!

  • Such a great film. Suspensful moments, sad moments, shocking moments, hilarious moments, and meaningful moments. Superb acting, script, and direction.

  • @Django5198 Your review was spot on. One of my favorite films. It shows human nature at its best and worst. Acting superb. Music awesome. Scenery erie but beautiful. Script hilarious at times. Moving at times.

  • reminds me of my grandpa... he talks just like them lol XD

  • YAH

  • Frances McDormand

  • i live in fargo, no one sounds like this. jesus christ

  • @xPoPzYou This movie doesn't take place in Fargo

  • We North Dakotans DO NOT talk like that! Just for the record(:

  • Great screenplay. What a character wants, expects, ends up with and is willing to risk are all on display in this fascinating story. Absolutely the best film of 1996 and a much, much better film than "No Country For Old Men".

  • @rievans57 Yes, possibly one of the greatest movies ever made. A great series that I reccomend is Breaking Bad. But watch it in order, and do not look up anything online about it. Nothing. Just to avoid spoilers.

BTW, this is a terrible trailer that doesn't do this movie justice.

  • Finally watched the film, after all the hype and talk, all I can say about this film is...

    Its FUCKING AWESOME

    HAHAHA

I want it in my DVD Collection.

And also, God, do they (pregnant chick & husband) eat alot in this film.

  • Oya?

  • Frankly Frances McDormand made me turn on while watching this movie :)

  • This might be the worst trailer in history. I wouldn't even consider watching this movie based on the trailer.

  • oh yeah, oh yeahh ...

    so much Oh yeah :D

    good movie

  • i didnt know sarah palin was in a movie

  • This film is sheer genius. I love it so much!

  • this movie is overrated... I'm sorry, but it is...

  • @pdlpictures For fucks sake, say "I think" , "I think this movie is overrated"

  • @frostyh81 I'm sorry that I deeply insulted you, it wasn't my intention... It's such an important matter and all...

  • Modern day classic. O yah!

  • Amazing movie with a horrible trailer. Then again if you think about it it's not a very easy movie to do a good trailer for.

  • OH YEAH???

  • one of the best movies i've ever seen. when you think about it, it has everything. comedy, horror, suspense, violence, heart, mystery as to where it is going, bitterness, great acting, great characters, great cinematography. whenever anyone asks me a movie to recommend, no question the first one is fargo.

  • i liked o brother where art thou better both are great though

  • amazing movie... what happened to the trailer? the coens usually make the best trailers...

  • saw this in high school. We all just kind of laughed it off (in a killer klowns from outer space sort of fashion) I suppose we thought the accents were funny or something along those lines. Now that I'm older, I think I'll throw it on my instant queue for later.

  • should be good, since it was Oscar nominated.

  • @greatwallofchina12 The Oscars are JEWs, applauding, and lauding more JEWs!

  • It's one of my favorite movies...reminds me of Minnesota so much

  • I love this movie. ANd the people in the movie who said Steve Buscemi is a funny lookin guy, well they are right. Buscemi is one of my favorite actors but he is a funny lookin guy

  • I just saw this movie and i am completely blown away (and not in a positive way). Can someone please explain to me why and how is this movie considered to be a very good one ? I considered it one of the worst movies I have ever seen . I mean are people from Minnesota really that dumb ? I have nothing against them , but that is the impression that this movie gave to me . I don't mean to offend anyone , I just want some clarification because I am starting to judge my sense of perception .

  • @i0will0not its one of my favorites. it is a very subtle film but i think its almost perfect. when i first watched it, i was nineteen and i thought the same thing as you. somehow, it really grew on me. give it a couple more watches. if not, you're not the first person to question the Coen bros. cult following. you either love their movies or wonder why they're so obscurely popular. doesn't mean anything, its just a matter of taste.

  • @i0will0not This is how the JEW ridicules the dumb goyim, and the cattle just love it! As they say, "You could spit in an American's face, and tell him it is dew"! lol And I DO mean to offend EVERYONE!!!

  • Stupid movie. Real stupid movie.

  • @equinoxranch yes, every stupid movie gets 94% in Rottentomatoes.

  • @SystemOfAtte I'm not sure if that's sarcasm, but it's pretty true. Of the very few films that have good ratings there, they're fucking awful.

I haven't seen this movie yet, though, so I'm not trying to trash it.

  • @JWStreeter This movie is fucking amazing - it's only flaw is the trailer!!!!!!!

  • Very Cool

    Kelly

  • No country for old men is personally my favorite.

  • @laistar Yah! Thanx a bunch! lol

  • I really enjoyed this film, but I do not understand why so many consider this the Coen's best film over such superior titles as 'Blood Simple', 'Barton Fink', 'The Big Lebowski', 'The Man Who Wasn't There', 'Burn After Reading (my person favourite)', and 'A Serious Man'

  • Geez.

  • simple yet amazing

  • Frances McDormand used to be hot?

  • One of my all time favorities. This movie is so typically small town america, I smiled inside at all the characters. It's about a simple story about simple people in a simple town. But I'll never forget those people and what happened there.

  • One of the best movies in cinematic history.

  • "So, you we're havin' sex with the little fella?"

    "Yeah....."

  • The movie was one wild ride!!! I remember the 1st time I saw it,similiar tundra type weather!!! Bosnia of course, not the graces of Minnesota..

  • Some people were put on this planet to do certain things. Mozart for his symphonies, Tyson for his upper-cut, Monet for his paint-brush, and The Cohen Brothers for their phenomenal instinct for story-telling. This is my favourite movie ever.

  • wtf i'm from minnesota no one talks like that

  • PM'd, this is intriguing.

  • Great movie for sure

  • awseome film FACT

  • That lady cop sounds like Sarah Palin hahahahahha

  • oh yaaaaa??? yaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • LOL this movie is the BANE of all minnesotans, I think not many people know that Fargo isnt IN minnesota! Just met a guy from Denver, who has been in minnesota for 2 months. he met me at my managers house and he told me i had the minnesotan accent real bad .specially when i said minnesota.and my manager, shes from missouri.and ive known her for about a year, she just told me after talkin to the guy that i had a minnesotan accent when she met me. glad to know i have an accent from where i live.:P

  • "Would it KILL you to type something?"

  • Great movie, terrible trailer.

  • @ng1493

Not sure about that. I think showcases the eclectic nature of the film well enough. At the very least, it's not terrible.

  • one of my favorite films!!

  • @TheLluis65

good choice, one of my main thrills and half the fun of watching it the first time were the accents, that north midwest/canada thing... i seemed like a real put on at first - macy and Francis Mc. especially... the coen's specifically wanted to fill a gap in film history by using this untapped area and accents, giving it a uniqueness...

  • "So...is there is anything else you can tell me about him?"

    "He wasn't circumcised!"

    "Oh, yeah?"

    LOL

  • not all of this movie was shot in MN...some was shot in ND and why is any movie set in a place and not shot there? it happens all the time. it was prolly because there is literally nothing in ND...except a few cows.

  • is it just me, or is the soundtrack for this movie fucking epic?

  • this is one of the greatest movies ive ever seen in my life

  • @oox122

well then you must have terrible taste in movies

the movie was average, it wasn't even anything special.

  • @BIGDADDYF50 If you say so! Most movie lovers, critics, and people who make movies seem to disagree.

  • Aw jeeze.

  • you bectha!

  • I did not like this movie. Just sayin'. Anyone think they can explain why? I mean, the whole thing seemed kind of...stupid.

  • @JasonsEvilMind is it really Fargo a great movie ? it can be better if we compare it with Departed or no country for old men ?

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind I think your account of how we enjoy films is mistaken. Think about it: you don't exercise a *skill* when you watch a film. You don't call back to a body of learning while you watch. There is no qualificatory knowledge or experience that makes your opinion on films more valid. When you say a film is "good", all you're expressing is how much it pleases you personally. Dislliking a particular film doesn't make someone less educated or intelligent - it's just personal taste.

  • @boiledelephant The same goes for music. One of my friends calls me stupid because I dont like Mars volta... He says I dont understand it. Im like dude, it doesn't please me to listen to a bunch of whiny emo douches

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind Also, just for the record, I'm not siding against you with the barely-sentient retards further down the page that you were arguing with. I just find claims about objective quality in the arts troubling :)

  • @JasonsEvilMind Kid that person was telling you that they trailer was not good enough for the film. Therefore the film was way to good for the trailer. Maybe you read it wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind Hahah wow I just saw that, sorry. I thought it was one that the uploader put up I didn't know it was one that had been voted up. Lol sorry,

  • @JasonsEvilMind I just watched it for the second time, even read some critic reviews. I watched all the coen moviews. i really know why this is a good movie but still i dont like it at all!

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind you didn't think Frances McDormand's character was a one dimensional?

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind he did like the movie. hes saying the trailer is making the movie seem bad, which hes saying it isnt. hence, the movie is too GOOD for this trailer

  • @rockgurl1218 You are the second person that has told me this and you are also the second person that seems to be unable to see that I was NOT replying to that guys comment. Look. Look at the comment. There you go. I was replying to someone else. I get what THIS guy was saying. My comment was to someone else. I get how you guys are getting confused, but just read the name that I am replying too, before replying back to me and trying to correct me. I should just delete the damn comment. lol.

  • @JasonsEvilMind oh sorry. its just because its right below it and im so used to people replying to other people right under their comment . plus it kinda just sounded like you were talking to him. sorry :(

  • @rockgurl1218 Not a problem.

  • @JasonsEvilMind i think this is their best. i own every one of their films and compare every other movie i've ever seen to coen bros. standard. what do you think is their best? No Country?

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind its all a matter of opinion. i do think they are the best american directors in the history of cinema. i love movies. also a huge fan of kubrick, scorcese, stone, mendes, even tarantino. i just think, in my opinion, the coens are the most consistent, they,ve managed to penetrate nearly every genre. all while making nearly a movie a year or every 2 since blood simple. haven't saw a movie of theirs yet i didn't love. i even enjoyed intolerable cruelty. i'd put 3 coens in my top 10

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind yes, i'm speaking about my favorite top ten. it is like music, they simply cannot be compared. all my statements are a matter of my opinion, as i clarified. and yes, i think Fargo and No Country are better than 2001 and Dr. Strangelove. Those aren't even my favorite Kubrick films, I don't even care for 2001. Ford made alot of movies, but I don't care for the couple I've seen. I like every Coen movie I've ever watched. I'm talking quality, not quantity. different strokes.

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind Film critics do not represent me. And i'm not arguing with you. I agree with you and if I worded it wrong than it's a fault of my own. I can only say this one way. The Coen bros. are the best American directors, in MY opinion. There is nothing that anyone can say to convince me otherwise. My favorite movie is JFK, I love the history, the acting, the conspiracy, the direction, the mystery. It's the whole package, to ME. You're right, it's just my opinion. Fact is not art. vice vs.

  • @JasonsEvilMind yes i've seen every kubrick film, I own them all. I have over 1000 movies also. i'm not a film student or even a self-proclaimed critic. you obviously know more about cinema than i do. all I can speak on is my opinion. 3 coen films in my top ten. 8 of those movies made later than 1980, so there it is. I have seen alot of movies though, it is simply a hobby and not my only one. ive watch AFI's top 100 and i do think fargo belongs in the top 20. foreign films, greek to me.

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind i've saw alot of classics actually. Also respect your opinion and admire your knowledge of cinema. I just think when it comes to art there is no way to compare things, so saying something is better than something else is something that exists only in the state of opinion. To myself, Fargo is better than 2001. The only tangible way to measure films is on their box office success, so does that make Titanic better than Vertigo? We probably both agree on the answer to that.

  • Comment removed

  • @JasonsEvilMind Do you agree with the Oscar choices every year? Does that make them wrong because you thought Fargo was a better film than the English Patient. Does that make it a fact that A Beautiful Mind is a better film than In the Bedroom? If your facts are more valid than mine, are Roger Ebert's facts more valid than yours. Film is not a science, neither is music, or sculpting, etc. I just don't understand how you can say something is not debatable or something else is a fact.

  • I love when Bill practices calling his father in law on the phone about his kidnapped wife, i'm sure scott peterson and coutless men kill their wives they do that shit, great film about American greed and desrire for money and how it led to all those senseless deaths
