Open carry is interesting, but it causes a lot of alarm in some places. In Florida, we have concealed carry. At least with concealed carry you have three distinct advantages. First, you have the element of surprise/secrecy. Second, there is less of a chance that your firearm will be swiped from you and used against you or others. Third, it alarms people less (see number one). I prefer concealed carry. You cant draw quite as fast, but thats O.K. by me. To each his own.
I carry concealed in FL. Disadvantage of concealed carry are variable. If someone has already drawn on you, good luck getting to your weapon. Hope the other guy doesn't find it.
On the upside, concealed carry does remove some of the potential hysteria from hoplophobes.

In most states there is no restriction on rifles and shotguns, only handguns. For instance, in Texas you must have a license to conceal a pistol. However, the law as written it does not say firearms it says handguns so legally one could walk down the street with a rifle in plain view.
It's not socially acceptable outside of certain situations but in most states it's perfectly legal.

Regardless of what you see in hollywood movies; swords were historically never carried on the back by any soldiers/knights/samurai of any army in any country. It's simply impossible to draw a sword from the back.
MAYBE you could draw a wakizashi (a short one... 14 inches max) successfully... Although even at such a short length, the edge would likely cut into the wood of the saya (sheath)...

Open carry is interesting, but it causes a lot of alarm in some places. In Florida, we have concealed carry. At least with concealed carry you have three distinct advantages. First, you have the element of surprise/secrecy. Second, there is less of a chance that your firearm will be swiped from you and used against you or others. Third, it alarms people less (see number one). I prefer concealed carry. You cant draw quite as fast, but thats O.K. by me. To each his own.

I carry concealed in FL. Disadvantage of concealed carry are variable. If someone has already drawn on you, good luck getting to your weapon. Hope the other guy doesn't find it.
On the upside, concealed carry does remove some of the potential hysteria from hoplophobes.

In most states there is no restriction on rifles and shotguns, only handguns. For instance, in Texas you must have a license to conceal a pistol. However, the law as written it does not say firearms it says handguns so legally one could walk down the street with a rifle in plain view.
It's not socially acceptable outside of certain situations but in most states it's perfectly legal.

What? Showing your concealed weapon does NOT get your CCW permit revoked.
Now if you were brandishing it, in other words: displaying it in a threatening or otherwise intimidating matter, then yes you could get in trouble in some places, but he obviously wasn't brandishing it. Wtf did you get the idea showing a weapon can get your CCW revoked anyway? That'd mean anyone who had to use their weapon would get the thing revoked, and that's obviously not the case.

When someone who is on the fence regarding supporting 2nd amendment, ie open carry, rights, does this in-your-face type of display sway them more in favor of open carry or does it turn them away?
