  • Does the original track have an isolated bassline in the song somewhere, or did you do something to isolate it yourself? If yes, how is that done?

  • @viDUBla unfortunately it does not.

how i did it ? Eq dynamic filtering and envelope shaping

the end result is not so good imo and that's the major problem of my remix, I don't have a clean bass line :'(

  • excellent video! Never seen this thing before today! I really need something like this to work with! FL's built in tools are just not good enough

  • First video with Octatrack that makes me wanna get one.

  • @AlecDrow do it it's a great box !

  • You're a wizard on that thing , great track...

  • i really appreciate the break downs on your process here. there are few videos that really show how to use the octatrack with great success!

  • this type of house is cool to do on the octatrack

  • I think its clever how you have sampled different bits of the record and you seem to have the octatrack performance effects down!

  • nice but the bass is a bit off beat.. to fast. very nice thoe!

  • Really like this, good job! ... thinking of exchaning my NI maschine to one of these ... or just adding it to my setup.

Are the different tracks (T1, T2, T3 ..) pre-sequenced in some way? It some times seems like the tracks are chaning automaticly, is there a "song mode" of any sort where you put the whole song together or is everything done on the fly?

  • @motoboy6666 the patterns can be chained using the "arranger" to build a song. At anytime you can jump from any location of the arranger to pattern mode and vice versa.

I don't remember exactly how i sequenced this one but i think I might have used the arranger for convenience on some parts of the song.

In my last video "Sixteen minutes Octatrack House jam" all pattern changes are done on the fly.

  • Love it, thanks for giving detailed explanation of what you used...makes all the difference.

Care to list a few pro and cons about the Octatrak am very much interested in a user review.

I'm loking for a piece of performance bsed hardware, had thought about electribe sx but the quality of dsp and build look great on this, is it worth £600 more than say an electribe sx ?

  • @H4NDCRAFTED it is definitely worth the extra cash : the sequencer is really in a different league than the electribe one (micro timing, swing, parameter locks + midi which should be out soon), the sampling engine is really far ahead (64 mo of ram but unlimited sample streaming directly from the compact flash card up to 64GB, time stretch, lfos, 2 FX per track ...)

And with all that it is still a lot smaller and compact which make it so easy to bring around :)

  • Hi, did you have a multi-track of this song or did you extract the sounds yourself and slice them or can it do this on its own? Does it take a long time to program it for something like this? Great vid ny the way, just the sort of thing I wanted to see to understand it better.

  • @TwoTimesJonny evrythnig you ask is answered in the video description; to sum it up, I've sampled 2 parts of the "intro track" a percussion loop and the bassline, the rest I've redone using my gear and sampling the "crush on you" single just like Braxe and Falke did in the first place :)

  • @kidysputpikii Thanks for the speedy reply. Your Octatrack - give it to me :)

  • nice work! like the rhythmic effects

have u found any bugs in the OT?

  • @onnolab yep i've found some at different points as I have it since its very early days but as the OS has been updated like 5-6 times and we are not even in OS 1.0 i feel confident debugging is being taking care of.

  • Great job!

  • Bassline doesn't really fit unfortunately.. is there a way to offset beats from the 16th note trigger points on the OT?

  • @cartesiaLive yes there is it is called micro timing. I've done my best trying to isolate the bassline from the original track, it is no easy task :)

  • @kidysputpikii OK cool, thanks

  • Stunning! Sounds great, cool performance, interesting use of an interesting piece of gear... Nothing but love ;-)

  • loopin it forever and dancin with ya partner, fookin superb

  • luv it, great work!
