People did watch it, the reason it went under was it was spending too much money on the show and fighters but not making enough money back even though they were selling out 60.000 seater arenas. Kinda shows their dedication to putting on an event that was memorable no matter what the cost. From a business perspective its fucking stupid but as a fan I cant thank them enough!

Don frye VS Takayama got more viewers than the 2002 world cup finals. That says it all.

Its the sole basis on why Pride came to the US back in late 2006, they needed new revenue since their primary backer bcked out. Its a shame that something so great dies at its highest point. I guess its better to go out on top then die slowly.

@hungoversundays No that's not true. Pride wsa caught dealing with the yakuza behind the scenes and because of that they lost their contract for Fuji Tv. They had no network to show any fights. They had to depend on their gate attendance to pay EVERYONE that worked for pride. The fighters were paid very well....even for todays times. Silva was making almost 250,000$ a fight and rampage was making like 75,000$ and he wasn't the star he is today.
