@oomblikkies That's not what I took from this video. I don't think he stated his position on voting once, do you? Voting every 4 years is one way of expressing your voice, direct action in between elections is another. If we should be content to limit our voice to once every four years, then the politicians will be getting a free ride. We need 2 keep them on their toes by making our voice heard: write to them, speak out and publicly demonstrate (peacefully).

If I have to argue with it, then for me, there is some despair, because I know that complaining about things like naked body scans will not be enough. Protesting will not be enough. They traditionally fall back, regroup, and attack again. To stop their tyranny, we must boycott them until they fall of the radar. We lack the resolve to achieve any real resolution. (I do fly general aviation, but I'm boycotting airlines since 1974.)
So, Monbiot does not believe in the ballot box.
