yes this was indeed China Airlines and this was practically a replay of a disaster they caused in Narita (Tokyo) in '95 (not sure about the previous date) I was in Taipei when this one took place
PAL as in Phillipines? or Pakistan? lol not that they arent good airlines, but I doubt their safety record is better than EVA. But then again, I'm biased cause I'm Taiwanese, but their safety record proves it.
they were the first airline in asia...the most safest airline....i love singapore airlines too, but the accident happened last october 31, 2000 was so terrible which killed 78 people including my father....but i think the worst of all airlines in asia is the Garuda Indonesia, its like the Air France worst ever!
OMG, the singapore crash in taipei killed your father?! im so sorry :(...wow...but rest assured, other than that, singapore has never crashed...your father was just unlucky; im so sorry...yea i heard garuda indonesia is horrible. but i think asian airlines (with a few exceptions obviously) are a class above most other airlines.

Jake, Air China serves the PRC, while China Airlines serves the ROC.
Recommend EVA Air, which serves the ROC and has a clean record.
Vikkoman 4 years ago
yep exactly. take EVA Air! ppl, do not mix up Air China (China) and China Airlines (Taiwan). theyre for two totally different countries.

well u betcha take PAL its the safest!

hhhmmm...what's this PRC and ROC about?
poohtanginamo 4 years ago
PRC = People's Republic of China - That is Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau
ROC = Republic of China - That is Taiwan, the Pescadores, Kinmen, and the Matsu Islands.

oh im sorry i never known that before...
but wow i never thought that taiwan is a part of china....
is china monarchy or democratic?
imgonnabeok 4 years ago
What I describe are two separate Chinese governments.
The PRC is ONE government - It is often referred to as "Mainland China" or simply "China" in the press. It is an authoritarian government.
The ROC, often called "Taiwan" or "Chinese Taipei," is a different government. It is democratic.

China Airlines has a terrible safety record. Won't go near them.

China Airlines is pulling out of Houston because of the funny routing: Houston-Seattle-Taipei.
I think EVA Air should come and fly nonstop.
Vikkoman 4 years ago
wheres houston?
poohtanginamo 4 years ago
Its a major city (not the capital, which is Austin) in Texas, one of the largest (2nd or 3rd largest in size) states of the United States.
forreal22 4 years ago
oh in that case i cant see any funny in their houston - taipei routing....its natural...
poohtanginamo 4 years ago
The problem is that the route is not nonstop.
If the route was nonstop it would be more attractive for connecting passengers. After all Continental has a nonstop IAH-NRT that works.
Vikkoman 4 years ago
but dear friend...
a nonstop long haul flight is a kind of scary travel into air...
we never want it but what if the accident will happen unexpectedly during that long haul? maybe CAL is only just taking care of their passengers...
but then here in Ph, PAL flies nonstop from manila to los angeles, california and even the manila to amsterdam, neitherlands...
thats a long hauls service of them but for me honestly i fear of long hauls....
imgonnabeok 4 years ago
but they stop in guam,i think
jakenestor 4 years ago
Where PAL stops depends on the city.
* Honolulu is nonstop
*Los Angeles to Manila stops in Guam while Manila to Los Angeles is nonstop
*San Francisco to Manila stops in Guam while Manila to San Francisco is nonstop
* Vancouver is nonstop
Vikkoman 3 years ago
The deadliest phases of air travel are takeoff and landing, so actually long hauls are safer than connections.

in texas
jakenestor 4 years ago
oh well thats definitely funny...i thought they're stopping in some countries of asia where it may be the half of the travel...
