@mcrsexonlegshxc Your book lacks physical dependence to a chemical. Hence your conclusion is bias to the belief that "addiction" is weakness, and ignorant to the fact that "nicotine" connects to receptors located deep inside the brain and enduces a "pleasure" hormone. I was once an addicted smoker. I quit a year and a half ago. Let me tell you this, addiction doesn't happen over night. It happens after several inhalations of nicotine. Quitting is a real challenge for those who are addicted.
@canihaveanid That is VERY true. What people don't understand is the big thing is the nicotinic receptors that are activated are excitatory. In the simple state, it's activating your motivation/reward pathway, in a MUCH stronger sense than (for example) chocolate makes you happy. So you are very right, it's extremely hard. And koodos to you for quitting! Your body will really thank you for it!!!
thats pretty good self control, a friend of mine bought an electric cigarette to quit smoking u dont need to light it and u can get them nicotine-free and they only produce water vapor. its good for ppl who dont want the nicotine and just like the activity of smoking.
oh pls that girl doesent even get close to how a person lookslike aftehr 20 years-TRUST ME SHE SO DOESENT-IT LOOKS MUCH MORE AWEFULL my parents are the same-oh im ashamed of them
I smoke constantly. All my teeth feel like they are going to fall out, and my gums bleed when I brush my teeth. But hey, I have not much wrinkles (yet).
It's a trap like everything else, fast food, television, etc.. It is genuinely addictive and hard to quit, but not everyone see's it like that.
Dont smoke because your parents do, friends do, because it is a money grabbing, fatal, addictive TRAP!!!
I quit smoking using Allen Carr's book. I dunno why the NHS doesn't give it away to everyone who wants to quit. It works almost like magic.
My heart aches for anyone still addicted. If you seriously want to put the ciggies down, try Allen's book, it was ten dollars here in the US from Amazon.
Wrong. You have to be 18 to purchase cigarettes. Just like to buy alcohol, you need to be 18. However, alcohol drinks can be consumed by anyone over 5 at home. I assume the same applies to smoking.

People in Japan smoke 3 times as much as Americans, and have virtually no heart disease because they eat 3 grams of seaweed per day.

You don't need to buy self help books to stop smoking.
Just don't buy any more cigarettes, then you soon give up smoking ......

Knowing what you know now, maybe you would've never started smoking in the first place.
I can still remember when my friends first started and how one by one they all began to smoke.
It's almost as if they were born with the addiction and couldn't wait to get started.
If you think about the reasons to quit, they will out number the reasons you started.
Knowing what you will lose in the long run if you don't quit is alot and so is saving your money, your looks and your health.
Good luck
