  • The episode from Avatar with this song makes me tear up :'(

  • I lost one of my best friends when we deployed together. It never gets easier but It's the way every soldier wants to go. God bless.

  • I didn't think this song could be any more sad until I opened another tab and played Rainy Mood here on youtube.

Now excuse me as I tearbend in the corner.

  • I love the line that says "Forced to fight a war that's not his own"

My great grandfather fought in WWII for the Germans because he was drafted. He hated the Nazis and what they were doing but he had to fight. He had no choice.

  • @Shigglywiggly my great grandfather fought in WWII, not sure if he had a choice or not, or if he hated the Nazis, he died in 2001, valentines day.

  • this really makes us think how pepole are inpacted by the war when they lose family and how we wish there was no war

  • honestly i like iroh's version better

  • I love how this song has inspired many people from completely different cultures and people going through these situations in reality aswell showing off how beautifully animated and directed this show was.

  • tears rolin covering eyes*

  • I would like to hear Uncle Iroh since this version.

  • OMG are you kidding me *sobs* My little brother JUST got back from his second tour and when I saw this avatar clip I was just beside myself... (and again just now) I don't even think I can show my parents this, my Mom will lose it. :-) Good Luck Coming Home To The Rest Of Everyone's Troops

  • such a sad song waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa =(

  • i really want to shoot the haters on this video. imagine if this was YOUR dad or mom.

  • @supertwinkie121 ahh this reminds me of my grandpa he fought in world war 2 then he died

it wasnt from the war tho... he had lived through 5 heart attacks and didnt tell anyone and then the doctors found out and it was too late :(

  • @roguegamer902 this reminds me of MY Gpa. he fought in the war to, and went blind in one eye because of cancer, and blind in the other eye cause of glass shattering in the cockpit of his plane. (he was a pilot) then he eventually died from cancer.

  • Whats even more sad about this is that he's a PFC , he shouldn't even be out in the battlefield yet T_T .... R.i.p

  • to all the soldiers who are gone they're so brave

  • i'll miss you grampa D*:

  • R.I.P To the "unknown soldier". For all those soldiers who didn't have a family but died and no one knew about it.

  • Appearantly Satan has two youtube accounts

  • Beautiful video

  • For fuck's sake people! Hanofgames or whatever and whoever is responding to him, please stop this crap. I get that you're ideologies are different, but you dishonor Alex and yourselves when you argue it this way! Take it somewhere else, personal messages or whatever, but don't tarnish this man's memory by fighting a senseless fight here!

  • @bagsmohess ....Ummm isn't the original voice actor deceased... I believe his name was Mako but I agree that would have been amazing

  • @BandarKhan92 Yes, and if you look at the original episode this was in, you'll see it says "In Memory of Mako" because he passed away after Season 2 was finished being recorded.

  • @BandarKhan92 Yes, and if you look at the original episode this was in, you'll see it says "In Memory of Mako" because he passed away after Season 2 was finished with recording the audio.

  • whoever disliked this is probably a terrorist.

  • I think the voice actor for Iroh should have sung a full version for this song

  • RIP

  • 2 people are retarded as fuck

  • Thank you for uploading this song in it's completion. It is a song that is a fitting tribute to those who were carried home and brings a measure of comfort to one who mourns and celebrates today. Again, thank you.

  • i am soooo sory about your friend! i really like this song! it made me cry!

  • This song makes me cry every time I hear it...

Good bye grandpa, I love you so much... *wipes tears away*

  • 2 are Iraqi Soldiers, sorry for your loss.

  • tough loss man

  • This is beautiful. I'm so sorry you had to lose him. It must hurt terribly, but just open your eyes and look at the world around you. You'll see him.

  • Beautiful and so sad.

  • RIP Alex :( support the troops, not the war. semper fi

  • Check out my hiphop remix/sample of this song on my channel.

  • @100MFJOSH that is pretty disrespectful of you to post about your song

  • @HanFanGames at first I was like, ok everyone is entitled to their opinion, so wasn't going to respond..but after seeing How u debate ur opinion the way u have I don't think u actually have an actual opinion that relates to the video other than to just sound all pretentious with ur "war is bad" argument, cuz no shit war is bad!...and I'm I'm gonna stop here cuz I don't have the right words to express my annoyance at ur comments.

  • @NICZ1325 Why would you not? I'm young and haven't really found my opinions yet, but I do know that your sad, and it's sad that someone died because of all this war shit going on in the world. But why did he even join in the first place, there's really nothing positive to it.

  • @HanFanGames you just said that you're young, and i can understand that. but there are a lot of reasons that people chose to join the military and go to war. you didn't know him or his story, so try to be respectful

  • @SasukeTheEmoKid Amen. We all have our reasons for doing what we do. None of us can say what he lived for, or what he died for. His life should tell you what kind of story he wanted to tell.

  • @hanfangames do you really not know the difference between a soldier and a serial killer?

  • In Loving Memory of Mako. Rest In Peace.

  • rest in peace brandon cambell.. <3

  • I'm so sorry about your friend.

  • im sorry for your loss :(

  • Im so sorry you lost your friend

  • Rest in peace: My older brother *cries*

  • @doubledstar it'll be ok you see all your loved ones some day

  • It's 1 O' clock in the morning and I wasn't thinking of my farther fighting right now but then I heard this song.... It's 2O' clock and I've just stop cry. thank you not just for singing this song but for all the memories that you've reminded me of. You reminded me to cherish every moment.

  • i am a Marine who is about to be sent to Afghanistan. i am a former Iraqi veteran, and this reminds me of my best friend who died a while ago before i went into the Marines. i almost cried when i heard this song it made me remember him... thank you for this video. it helped me alot. i am sorry about your loss. you are not alone. Semper Fi my friend

  • @FemaleMarine1 I wish you good luck. Come home safe, and thank you for your service to this country.

  • I am a combat veteran who has deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. The first time I heard this song while watching Avatar it hit close to home. While it has its own special meaning to me I think it was an excellent choice for the video you made of your friend. Thank you for appreciating him enough to make the video and the song enough to use it to honor your friend.

  • @thornesen i feel you pain. i am an Iraqi veteran about to be sent to Afghanistan. i lost my best friend in Afghanistan when i was in Iraq. it was tough. if you dont mind me asking, what branch were you in?

  • @FemaleMarine1 Good luck and come home safe. I admire people who have the courage to do what you do.

  • this song is sad..... and

  • All I can say is I've watched this video dozens of times and it still makes me tear up. This guy was 2 years older than me when he died, I could've played football with him back in elementary school for all I know! I want to cry ever time I see it. God bless him, this video has affected me in ways you could never imagine. Rest in peace sir, you will not be forgotten.

  • I would just like to say that this made me tear up when i saw the photo of him with the angel wings. This was a very nice video you made, really made remember how i felt whenever my brother was deployed in places fighting in the army. I am so sorry to hear about your friend. It always makes me cry whenever i think of Army soldiers fighting and laying their lives on the line to help our country. You have to have so much courage to do that. I cant even imagine. Rest in Peace, Alex Oceguera.

  • i dont cry but this got emotionas

  • whose the one idiot that dislikes this tribute to fallen soldiers they need to check themselves big time.

  • i cried when i heard this and saw this and read the comments i thought i would lose a friend in th military but then a thought he was alright but turns out he died at the last minute

  • R.I.P ARMY BUT SOME OF THESE GUYS ARE NOT DEAD

  • i am sorry for your loss

  • It's strange to think that he would be my age now. When you're a kid, you think of soldiers as somehow so much older and far away. When you get a little older, you realize that they can be people you know and played kickball with on the playground. It really brings it home.

    I'm sorry for your loss.

  • But worse still is

    My Little Soldier Boy

He died on his way home

    He thought he was safe

He died on his way home

    Trying to return to me

    And he never got here

  • Everyone shows up To see the returning boys Cheering, clapping, for their heroes But the soldier boys shake their heads and cry One little soldier boy Was not coming home One brave little soldier boy Never got to come home Some of the boys lost legs Others, lost their arms But more tragic still Are the ones who lost themselves They have no visible pain But inside, they are silent Eternally maimed They never truly came home
  • Leaves from the vine Falling so slow Like fragile, tiny shells Drifting in the foam Little soldier boy Come marching home Brave soldier boy Comes marching home The soldiers have been gone For, oh, so many years Fighting in the war Vanquishing terrors and fears The little soldier boys Are not little anymore Somehow the soldier boys Lost something in the war
  • Look I agree with stopping the hate mongering ivereadaboutit, but the US Constitution grants equality to everyone, and I wouldn't go so far as to call them evil. I disagree with the Taliban's beliefs and their methods, but they're the same as us, soldiers fighting for their country and their beliefs. I respect your opinion and your right to have it, but I thought I should offer a contrasting ideal. And to the poster of this video, I'm very sorry to hear you lost a dear friend. I have a cousin s

  • That soldier died for his country and this person wanted to give them a video to honor it. What's wrong with that? I bet people would probably freaking complain if you'd just used a picture of a paper. Don't worry about them. People can be real asses sometimes. I know. It's beautifully done.

I think it's a beautiful song and it's wonderful of you to do that for him. God bless you and bring you peace.

  • R.I.P. Grandpa.......... and all other soildiers who defended the country with their lives. :*(

  • played this at the remembrance day assembly on the piano :)

R.I.P to all the soldiers out there who gave their lives serving their country <3

  • my condolences

  • Im sorry for your loss...what a beautiful tribute

  • T.T

  • T T

  • whats really wrong is that iraq uses kids to fight the battle for them, the muslim are the real pussies standing behind women and children. plus its there fault, they brought war to there own country. maybe bush was behind the attacks of 9-11 maybe not, but the iraq people where in the cockpit of those planes.

  • @BioNickDick Couldn't have said it any better myself.

  • @BioNickDick We aren't fighting Muslims, we are fighting terrorist who believe in holy war (jihad). The amount of Muslims who believe in jihad are very small and do not represent the religion of Islam in an accurate light.

  • @gameshark458 that would make since if the muslim religion didn't start a war every ten years... they been starting wars since the crusades, which in turn means a lot of them believe "they are THE' master race" type of thing' and you may think "hey wasn't it the christians behind the crusade wars?" YES!!! THEY WERE, BUTT!! once again the muslim started a war they couldn't finish.... mayb they can-they been doingit for centuries, 'history needs to be accurately taught in schools!' or just read...

  • @BioNickDick I hope you realize that the Christians started the Crusades. We attacked them in an effort to reclaim the holy land. They didn't start a war and the Muslims still won. Frankly, your argument makes no sense. I would read up on history.

  • @gameshark458 yes but the period of that war was caused by a conflict started by muslim

  • @BioNickDick No it wasn't. I'm not advocating for what either side did. We(Christians) declared war on Muslims so we could get control of the holy land.

  • @gameshark458 are you a bionickdick seriously arguing this? muslims and christians are both guilty of these things they both tried to convert people by killing them they both started wars i mean hell the catholic church literally sold japan and its people... the 2 main religions and both are full of horrible people who just use their power to kill. but this isn't the place to discuss that. religion= hatred and war. this is a loving video so yea no place for all of that.

  • @BigScott92 I agree, but I'm not trying to convert anyone. In fact I was arguing for Islam while I am not a believer in the religion. Please look at the context before you rudely talk to me you FUCK!!!

  • @BioNickDick in 630 AD muhammad launched launched crusades in Tabuk (i think), and started to tax non muslim or christian arabs, from there he lead over 40g troops and waited there for another battalion to mobilize and prepare for battle but never did leaving the city to fall under muslim rule. Kinda that follow us or die' motto... thats when the christian crusades launched theres and they never tried to convert anyone just tried to get there territory back-and thats when it went to shit....

  • to the people who served in the war and died... rest in peace you will NEVER be forgotten you will be in every body's heart. i had a friend and his brother died. i went to his funeral and before his brother left for iraq he asked that if he died we did and everybody was crying even me and i didnt even know him. this just show's how much war can affect us.

  • I found this video because of the song, like many seem to have. Despite that fact, I wish peace upon your friend. May he rest and if you are religious in any way I hope that he is in paradise or reincarnated into something wonderful, or whatever it is you believe happens to the good of this world after their passing. I for one believe in a paradise so I do hope he is there. Best to your family, his, and all of your (both of your's) friends.

  • Brave man, many brave men. I know this is not the place and I'm sorry but it's just too bad the government doesn't care about them and sends them to war as easy as picking what to eat next. They think they are defending the country which i respect but the war over there is just to profit the rich. I'm sorry but i had to say it.

  • Rest In Peace:

    Alex Oceguera

  • O-oh my goodness, I almost cried watching this. ;; I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, and I hope my song has been able to give you some measure of comfort. <333

I would be honored if you would post this as a response to the original video so more people can appreciate what you've been through.

  • NICZ1325 i am deeply sorry for the lose of your friend.i know its hard when you lose someone so close. i will always be grateful for the sacrofise he made for his country and its people. thank you for uploading such a touching video,i hope itll remind us all that what we have can be taken away if not faught for.i myself am joining the marine corpse and i hope i can be half as brave as him.my thoughts are with you and your familys. again im sorry for your lose and thank you for reminding us.

  • I'm afraid that my dad, even though he's the "tough guy" might be singing this song if I'm killed after I sign up....it brings tears to my eyes just thinking of it T.T

  • I have to tell you all, this is a very beautiful song, with a meaning that should go directly to your hearts and tears, i think that you should stop saying it should have been dedicated to someone else, THIS IS INSPIRATION FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR OWN SONGS! I understand the grief that some of you have, and im not from America, But there are many nations included in this war, Denmark too, we carry grief and sorrow too, but still we dont just say "crap!" to something a person have put his feelings i

  • Neither this song nor the video are about war in any political sense. That is, they do not state that war is victorious, glorified, or justified. They say, "war is real, and in it, real people die". Fathers, daughters, cousins, and friends fall victim to all manner of atrocities that arise from our (read: all humans) capacity to escalate. On every side. NICZ, thank you for your beautiful work and I apologize for the loss of you friend. Without our soldiers, none of us would have that which we do.

  • I wonder how much infighting and bitching we'd have if NICZ1325 had just used the picture of Iroh crying at the memorial to his son.....I'm guessing none. Doesn't anyone appreciate the depth of the song and the situation surrounding it?

  • @vidmuncher well i made the video overall for myself and those who knew him, had No idea this "infighting and bitching" would occur from it...bottom line its a nice song and the message behind it was i miss my friend and this song embodies how i feel about him unfortunately dying while serving his country. If there's a person or 2 out there that reads more into than that than thats their issue.

  • @NICZ1325

I may have never known him but I do hope you find the peace you seek.

  • @NICZ1325 Serving his country? You mean being tricked into joining an illusion of pride and honor?

  • @HanFanGames As much as I would like to dispute you, I'm afraid I cannot.

  • @HanFanGames Its a song dude. This man served his country. Now if you have a problem with men and women going out and protecting this place we live in then go move to a different country. Think before you say something

  • @Nagano90 Your aware of that his life was wasted right?... Just because high upper politics can fights their feuds.

  • @HanFanGames fight*

  • @Nagano90 btw I dont live in america I'm just against all useless killing.

  • @HanFanGames What are you trying to prove? You think your opinions are going to blow the minds of greaving families and friends, That after they read or comments theyre going to think the person they love wasted theyre life. Whats your problem you think they care what you think. People are here to enjoy the song and possibly remember a fallen hero, not dispute some random bigots political agenda.

  • @HipHopPolooza Oh and to the poster of this vid my condolences for your loss.

  • @HipHopPolooza That's not the point, the point is that he thinks that his friend served his country, it's not good to think those things... He should be sad that his friend is dead, not dead because he '' served his country''

  • @HanFanGames Why is it "not good to think those things" because your opinion deems that if one should die in battle for our country hasn't served this country, why don't you take your asnine views and shove them down some other person throat and let these people enjoy the song.

  • @HipHopPolooza It may be good to think about it, but in a way so that you can understand that he didn't have to die. When a person dies in war I don't think about it like this : He's justified because he died '' serving '' his country, therefore his life didn't go to waste, he still had time to '' serve his country '' and it's sad that he died because he chose to. Instead I think like this : He died and it's unfortunate that he couldn't see that war is bad.

  • @HanFanGames Sometimes, we all need to be the bad guy for the greater good. If he was doing his best to do what he believed was right, who's to say he wasn't.

  • @sudikai So if a twisted serial killer really believes in that murding innocent children, or whole families is good. Who's to say it isn't good? That's what your saying.

  • @HanFanGames For we have all sinned we have no right to cast judgment. So extreme as it is, that is what I'm saying.

  • @sudikai lol, it's so hard to take you serious. I judge you for being a christian, a person who can't free their mind.

  • @HanFanGames Hey now, hate me not religion.

  • @sudikai Why would I hate individuals? Religion is the true bad of the two. Although humans came up with religion.. but still.

  • @HanFanGames I'll admit it, I have no idea what you just said.

  • Comment removed

  • @NICZ1325 i am sorry you lost you best Friend.

  • @NICZ1325 My sisters in the airforce and she was n iraq and her frind died, this makes me think of her friend :/

  • @vidmuncher hell yea man im with u this is the saddest song man but its epic

  • that is so sad:'( but i loved it

  • that was absolutely beautiful. God bless you.

  • This song can move anyone and everything. I am one of the people. This is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. This song added to your loss makes me cry. You may not own the rights to the song and lyrics, but every soldier owns it in their spirit. I am glad to be part of a country that people will risk their lives for the well being of their fellow countrymen. Thank you.

  • @lSaif dunno about more suitable, considering wat the songs about, but i guess u can work the song that way if u wanted

  • @lSaif How about the American soldiers killed by those iraqi and afghan families.? How about my cousin that lost his life across seas to a bomb in the fucking green zone

  • @DELTAMODZ Unfortunantly that was part of his job, he knew the risks he took them dont blame me... But it wasnt the choice of the civilians to go into War.

  • @lSaif Shut the fuck up. we operate under ORDERS. You think we WANT to fucking do what we're doing? It's horrible what my comrades have done, yes. but at night they'll call me, screaming and crying because of what they had to do. Support the REAL heroes in your life you ungrateful shithead civilian.

  • @trelewis3 Whats wrong with showing the million dead Iraqis? Dont you think that there children dont cry when there mother and father have had there heads blown off? Dont you think that they dont cry when a hit squad of soldiers go out there and kill Iraqi civilians for fun and collect there remains as trophies? Dont you think that they dont cry when there fathers are killed and labelled as "terrorists" until a video is released proving they were actually innocent?

  • @lSaif And while we're at it, let's show the Arab women and children who had battery acid sprayed in their faces by the Taliban for going to school, eh? As an American soldier, I signed on to save innocent people and destroy those that would hurt them. And trust me, if I EVER fucking saw an American soldier shoot innocent people for ANY God Damn reason, I'd kill the sick bastard myself. People are people. American soldiers don't hate Iraqis at all, we both think we hate each other though, yes?

  • @trelewis3 You should hear what the taliban said about this and they said THEY DIDNT DO IT because they are just kids... I can go and burn somone face and will be labelled as "Taliban" straight away, also the Taliban say they are in full support of females education.

There are good soldiers and there are bad soldiers....

  • @lSaif Maybe you should be over there with your brethren then, fighting American "tyranny" Oh but wait, you're a coward. You do nothing. Cunt.

  • @kugemeletwo When did I say I support the Iraqi insurgency? I just said would have been more appropriate to show the Iraqi dead because the fact is there are a million iraqi dead.

  • @lSaif the song is directly about the "soldier boy" who wont come home because he gave his life to defend his family his country and his right to live his life free of tyranny. Take your hate mongering and giving of moral equality to evil elsewhere.

  • @lSaif and what about your fellow Americans? fuck you

  • @FemaleMarine1 What?

  • @lSaif i replied to your comment of how you should have shown the destroyed Afghan and Iraqi families. dumbass

  • @FemaleMarine1 And what did the Iraqis do to the Americans.... ?

  • @lSaif what did Americans do to the Taliban and Al-Quida?

  • @FemaleMarine1 Well they attacked there home land, killed tens of thousands of people and are currently taking there natural resources.

Plus Al-Qaeda and Taliban are not based in Iraq, thats Afghanistan... We are talking about Iraq here

  • @lSaif GRAH! I hate you people sometimes. If you are going to educate, at least use the correct form of "there" (in this case their) you fool.

  • @sudikai Thats a grammar mistake, it has no significant relevance (Plus I am dyslexic)

  • @lSaif Fine then, I'll let you off the hook this time. I'm watching you.

  • Very good tribute. This song is so sad :(. It always makes me want to cry.
