Atheism doesn't include anything else than lack of belief in a supernatural deity.

We can call atheism a religion, but if that's the case we can just as well say that any belief is a religion. For example, I believe that the computer I am typing this on exists. Thus, I am religious?

If we label all belief as religious, we'll just need a new word for believing in a supernatural deity and/or a set of morals.

Me, I like the current term, I don't really want a new one.

I'm an athiest and I believe atheism is a religion because of the denial of a deity. If most religion is based on the existence of a deity then my belief in no deity still has to do with a belief about the existence of deities or sentient supernatural beings.

Unfortunately, the word "religious" has been co-opted by god worshippers. The second definition isn't really the first definition that comes to mind, for most people. You're right, though.
