  • Isn't "vous" the plural form of "tu"? I though "vous" is for a group of people. And "tu" is singular.

  • @vikingking987 They both mean 'you'. One is formal and the other is informal. If you want to say the plural, you say ils or elles (if the group contains ONLY females). This translates to 'they'.

  • Damn this familiar thing is weird.

  • We who are "tete carre's need a bit of help...

  • I didn't see it used in a sentence. So to be formal, do i say "vous mangez"? or do i substitute 'vous' for 'tu' and say 'vous manges' ? thanks!

  • @pcx34 you say vous mangez

  • Fantastic. You've explained, very clearly and very simply, something that I've been asking French people about for YEARS - and I never HAVE had an explanation that I could easily understand - until now!! Thankyou, thankyou. :)))))))))))))))))))

  • In reality is it always so formal? Does one actually have to wait for “permission” to address a person in the familiar “tu”?

  • @conrad2004a

No using "Vous" is not sooo formal

but sometimes someone old or ridiculous can get kinda upset if you use "tu"

In spanish and italian is the same

    :D

  • @CristinaXLawliet Thank you for your help.

  • @conrad2004a Yes it is. If you address someone you don't know very well with the familiar tu, it's as if you were slapping him on the back with a "Hey what's up bro?". It could be awkward.

  • These lessons are really healthful thanks

  • oh . ive learned a lot of things ! this is amazing ! :))

  • Merci beaucoup!

  • Wow, these lessons are great! Thank you so much. I've learned a lot. I hope to become fluent. These lessons are the best.

  • Really good. Merci!

  • Thanks for the video. It is very helpful

  • I LOVE IT

  • thanks i was wondering why we use vous and tu
