I was looking for some videos of George Porter Jr and I found this. I never heard about this guy before, shame on me. The guy is a brilliant guitar player and an amazing singer, what a voice. He's guitar playing is perfect and fits in a trio format without the need of any other instruments. I say again, shame on me for be missing this guy, he is a legend!
Snooks rule...what to say ... a killer player and singer.
I wish I had a luck to hear and see him playing. Those people who were at the performance were really lucky to see one of the greatest New Orleans players.
Snooks...man, I hope youre in heaven playing with Jimi,Jerry and Moddy.
So effortless!!! And that right hand-- I use a pick (for the most part), and it amazes me how he interpolates those clean, beautiful blues riffs into his fingertip strumming. Love him.
RIP Snooks. I wonder if Cliff Gallup was influenced by Snooks? I know Cliff used metal fingerpicks on all four fingers from an interview with Jeff Beck about the making of "Crazy Legs". I do believe Snooks did it without the picks. The stark beauty of Snooks' Tone is breathtaking.
hey shane i dont know much about snooks eaglin and i dont know much about guitar and i dont know whether you will ever see this comment, but i agree with you so much! That's so freakin well-played that guitar my ears tells me! and especially all the other songs with snooks as well...
p.s. can anyone tell me whether he uses anything on his picking fingers ?
snooks is the one....he's playin BLIND with no pick on a approx. $300 Squier telecaster (MADE IN CHINA)!and plays it better than a person with perfect vision on a $1200 AMERICAN made guitar...He really is a LEGEND an "Unsung hero" if you will! He doesn't have the recognition he deserves. Its a shame to think it but he probably will not get the recognition he deserves until he's not here to see it :( He is a New Orleans original...
Is this the video from 1985? It's always been so expensive I've never bought it, but I've gone to hear Snooks and got tons of live recordings of his. There's nobody who can cover the ground he does and a singer and guitar player. This is a rare style for him and he totally slays it. Doing his Jimmy Reed thing. His Black Top records are my favorite R & B records of the 90s. George rules, too.
this is the cool part of youtube
RIP Mr Eaglin what an amazing musician
