@captaincabeman - No. I don' t really know what they're called. It starts as a C, then you move down one fret and play the B bass note, then an Am, and finally and Am, but you strum the open E string. And technically, to play in the same key as Jason the guitar needs to be tuned down to D (DGCFAd) as opposed to E (EADGBe). Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

sounds very good. When playin it myself I found it sounds good to only play half the Em bit that sits between some verses eg after "...us Lawsons alive" as it drags when played solo acoustic. Theres also a great live version of the song which was on some Uncut magazine comp CD a couple years back that has some nice vocal nuances by Isbell that would add frther to your already good performance if you can find it.

There may be an easier solution. The Truckers play EVERYTHING tuned a whole step down. So even though it's a standard tuning, it starts with D. Still, very nice job!!
