  • FUUUUUUU-

mfw KNEES are TOO FUCKING HIGH >:E

  • He doesn't have a clue what drive is all about

  • watch?v=wACr2klVuYo wacht my video sprint testing ...

  • great video i was just starting track for my first year and i wanted some good runnig form tips so thanks alot

  • Might wanna listen to him... He might be part Kenyan -.-

  • @runlildoggy

    Thats a bitchy comment

  • @runlildoggy Kenyans are EAST AFRICANS. They are known for long distance running. The black men you see running the sprints are usually of WEST AFRICAN descent. Next time you wanna be racist, at least get your facts right.

  • ok, when u drive , you dont kick your leg back. you stop it uner u and bring it back forward.

  • I bet those people thought he wasn't wearing pants

  • You should remove this because it is false information. It makes you look bad.

  • its funny how we get to hear.. low loser making stupid comments. they are the type of loser you wouldnt take serious in real life.

  • I know... One thing I hate is idiots who always think they know more than professionals...STFU people.. I know some videos are off, but obviously this guy knows what he is talking about.

  • OMG No! You try and stride from "his drive phase" you'll lose so much time. Ur not upright so how are u suppose to bring u knees up?!

  • @KayDome what he means by bringing your knees up is to bring them up toward your chest and this creates full extension or a longer stride. the object in the drive phase is to do this motions as quickly as possible. so you want it long and fast to cover as much ground with each step as possible while have a fas turnover.

  • He should learn what a drive phase is before attempting to show others what one is. His demonstration was as incorrect as his explanation.

  • You are supposed to focus on recovering your feet as fast as you can and with the most force possible... not striding lol. How is anyone supposed to get any power fully extended? Also the lower you are the more difficult it is to raise your knees that's why when your knees start to rise it's later in the race because you become taller.

  • this in burbank California

  • and the freaking point of the drive phase is to allow different set of muscles to bring you to speed. by driving, ur using most of ur quads to do the work. and once ur upright, its more of the ass. imagine using ur ass muscles for 100m.

  • its actually the exact opposite, i dont care to explain it to you, but the drive phase is all in your hammies and glutes

  • do you even have a published source. cos i do. zz.

  • .. i nvr supported expert village. what he says is right. but he should also comment on watching the stride and not overstride while driving. overstride and ur as good as fucked. look at how he tries to drive with a big stride. dots.

  • @jeromemao 100% agreed.

  • This guy is good. Fuck the retarded asshats posting gay bullshit.

  • ok thefattys.. you obviously dont know anything about sprinting. when coming out of the blocks you want to keep your head down in order to keep your body low and angled out like ampec33 said. when you shoot out- coming out of the blocks- it is much more affective and a quicker start than standing straight up coming out of the blocks.. sure, the head has nothing to do with it but how bout you try to come out of the blocks angled out with your head "up" bit of a strain.

  • Not one bit of science, all conjecture and most of that is wrong.

Keeping the head down has no positive effect on the runner.

High knees are the result of energy transfers from an eccentric stretch...some from the posterior muscles-but mostly from the Achilles tendon, when the COM passes over the grounded foot.

  • Don't criticise others when you can't do better than his achievements. Keeping his head down actually helps to reduce air resistance.

  • Follow your own advice.

The rate of speed that early in the race would be minimally affected by drag force.

By your analysis, the runner should be fully upright at the start if there is a following wind. Maybe the author forgot about that?

  • If you look at a 100m olympic run they do have there head down.

  • Of course they do...their coach told them to do it. That does not make it a necessary part of sprinting.

There is no research showing that keeping the head down longer will increase the length of the drive phase and even if it did, it would be detrimental to the runner.

  • wtf the point of the 100m is getting less steps in then the other runners thats why you strength train i start faster then dudes that have advantages over my aka height because of long strides

  • Keeping the head down also helps because even though slightly the wind will affect you"depending on if its a outdoor or indoor track obviously"..and if your running a 100m every split sec. counts

  • in the drive phase your steps want to be shorter, not long like shown here, but do keep your head down.

  • thanks great video im starting sprinting and could use any help possible :)

  • The reason a sprinter keeps their head down through the start is because if the heads pops up instinctively the rest of the body will follow. It has nothing to do with the knee drive. Just to clarify.

  • thank you for this video. cause i always put my head up when i start.

  • This guy is Jabari Pride, ran on the 2004 US World Indoor 4x400m relay team. They qualified for final and were favourites to win but got dq'ed. Pride himself is a runner with good sprint PRs (sub 21 200m & 46.x 400m)

  • thanks for the tip. I'm teaching my daugther to run and this video mean a lot thank you.

  • he seems pretty fast haha

  • nice

  • who is this guy,is he famous? i dont know him, but he looks like good, he got a great tecnich

  • how can i knock 1 sec of my 100m dash

  • by not eating big macs and hitting the Weight Room...

  • ok that halps alot (bitch). I mean like proper form. FYI where I am now doesnt have Mc donalds.
