ive read all your comments and everyone has a right to voice an opinion.no andy bell was never in blancmange i should know im his brother !and secondly so what if someone is gay?does it make them any less better then you?i mite be a brother but havnt got to like his music or some of it.
I've had some fierce arguments with people on my uploads about "gay music" and "hetero" music, and said I don't give a fuck as long as it's good music !
@roddy76to86 - Great comment. Does it really matter who in the pop world - or any other walk of life - is gay? Some of the finest musicians and singers are gay. Surely it's their music that we love and enjoy so much that matters.
I essentially borrowed from a great quote by a guy called Rusty Egan, who was the DJ at the famous "Blitz Club" where those New Romantics got going. He was referring to synth bands and saying "He's gay, he's gay, oh yes and he's gay; they're all fucking gay ! SO WHAT ? Can you make another record please...?" And some bastard "outed" Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys, who wasn't ashamed to be gay, but didn't want the band's music mixed up with all this pointless stereotyping.
No not Vince Clarke. He was with Erasure i think. Stephen Luscome is the guy, a fantastic instumentalist i think you'll agree! going in to Liverpool later so will pick up the new album Blanc Burn !
I just said Vince Clarke as a bit of a joke because he is considered the top synth wizard. Early Depeche Mode, Yazoo, The Assembly (a brief side project with Feargal Sharkey), and then Erasure. I saw him described on a documentary as a "walking juke box" !
No Roddy, He looked great! Typically carying a bit more weight as we all do with time though. He looked a little different in his mature years. The guy on computer and keyboards was a stand in as the original guy is seriously Ill with an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. Life threatening! Hope he gets better soon!
I've been searching for them on i tunes aswell. My dad brainwashed me with an album when i was a kid. I think therewas a big house in the back ground, cats with head phones on,playing various instruments. would love to get hold the album now
Fantastic track... this was the b-side of 'in god's kitchen' IIRC - it was a hell of an impressive single, and better than any of their actual hits I think.
@BadJohnny1965 yeah ! i saw them same year with depeche mode at canterbury college. i thought they were better the depeche mode, there stage presence was amazing
Brilliant track! 'Happy Families' is one of the best pop (and synthpop) albums EVER! Almost every track (including this one) is simply amazing. Thanks for posting.

I saw Blancmange in1982? Supporting Depeche Mode in Jersey. Also got this track and others given away on an EP
from Melody Maker I think it was. They were just on the edge of fame then.

I don't know what I'd give to have been there. Right in the experimental phase too.

I've noticed that, too. This also evokes Naked Eyes and OMD, among others...that means I love it.
