I am so thankful to have discovered the gift of your music..a true blessing for me this day...truly powerful and real...thank you, Morley and musicians
Come on guys !!! You have super classy lady singing her soul out in front of your eyes. Who gives a s...... about 60 or 65 bpm. In case if you didn't notice, there was Great Jan Garbarek himself standing on the side, giving more attention to this very talented young singer than you bs'ing about irrelevant details.
I don't hear anything wrong with Manu Katché here... he's so musical and groovy! BTW, I measured the tempo: it starts around 60 bpm and goes "up" to 65 bpm at the end, pretty stable, isn't it?
Very good performance. So much bullshits on the comments below. Pushing tempo from 62bpm to 66bpm is not what I call "rushing it". Enhancing patterns doesn't involve a tempo speed change. And pushing it a bit like this is totally appropriate, tempo is flexible, all the best musicians play with it. For me, the singer looks like to be in perfect harmony with it, as music is intensifying, they both make it groove more.
That´s a natural human feel, so I think tempo is perfect for this song. Don´t spect from Manu sounding like a metronome, that´s not good. I think there´s not lack of feel on his perfomance...that´s a genius perfomance.
Manu is rushing this - he totally looses the feel very early on. I mean it is great but it's not quite what it might have been had Manu not rushed it ... she is intensely brilliant - she adapts to Manu and blows it out.
Poor, poor runtfish can't accept the facts of the matter ... I love Manu, but he's rushing it ... period. Take a moment to notice the cadence the singer sets .. by the end of the tune Manu has pushed the tempo well beyond what the singer had intended. Its idiots like runtifish who make the world the a crappier place for everyone who can intelligently express a valid argument. Fucking myself seems so far removed from this discussion it only speaks to runtifish's fragile sense of self.
NJAZ you're thinking WAY too rigidly. You think there's a cosmic law about constant tempo or something? To the contrary, songs often get more intense -- busier, and faster -- as they go on. It's the nature of the song, and the artist's desire, often, for the slight increase in tempo to reflect the rising emotion of the song. Do you study music much? (Beyond technical aspects, metronomes, etc.?) Because I do think maybe you're missing it on this one.
i bet he's within 2 bpm of her original tempo. He's a little in front of the beat, but big deal, it's a pretty intense tune, although it's just vox & drums. Considering he's wanking like crazy, and it's LIVE, i think it's pretty impressive, also, given the style of the music, i think his feel is totally appropriate. I really don't hear Manu losing feel as you do. Maybe i don't know the artist well enough.
Are you still a self riotous prick then njaz? So you think you are an intellectual then? Dont ever slate my son on here again saying you feel sorry for him having a father like me..... Get your facts right before you send me anymore snoty emails. Chow!!
Which is not an attack to Manu in any way as I'd say he's brilliant in what he does but... maybe is it a wanted effect ?, he doesn't stop playing a 10th second before the beat... for all song long
Manu is a god on the drums ... even on an "off" night Manu sounds great, as he does here. I was feeling a little too critical upon first judging this clip. My apologies to any I've offended with my opinion ... except for cuntifish that is ...

Manu is playing a lot of notes, but it doesn't ever feel like it's distracting from the song. If anything, it takes the song to another level.

I think the tempo is really not that much different in the end. Maybe because there are many notes being playes, it seems to be faster.
