  • Solaris ? is that a Debian clone like Ubuntu ?

  • @lastmiles No, it's Unix, Linux is a clone of Unix.

  • why are you running those virtual machines in windows? Are you retarded or something?

  • well sometimes unix and linux are the best operating system use for hacking coz there languages of codes are different in windows ..and basically all pro hackers use linux and unix

  • snape................................

  • so this is snapes youtube. :D

  • Your voice is funny! Maked me laugh! :D

  • Linux is only useful for hosting. Their are other things but I see hosting as the majority use.

  • the yum command....ironic that my stomach is growling?

  • ugly voice :S

  • @rafelericsteel That's....rude.

  • @hmahmo im kiddin

  • sounds like Alan Rickman

  • @hempknotable My thoughts exactly haha.

  • Why solaris and not linux?

  • are you a Snape

  • you sound like professor snape loololololl

  • u sound like u got dick in yo mouth.

  • @5961238 suppose you would know :)

  • Alright for everyone here, Windows is the most versatile, Solaris is good for java applications obviously, and linux has many variations from Red Hat Server to ubuntu. Really you guys aren't making any sense. The only OS that can get viruses is Windows because it it the only one that can run .exe's which is what viruses are coded as. That means that Linux, and Mac loose compatibility because they cannot run .exe's unless you use an emulator like Wine.

  • @ii0nyx i lol'd. viruses/malicious code can only come in the form of .exe. lol wow

  • @ii0nyx are you retarded?

linux and macs can get viruses.

  • @ii0nyx Mac and Linux can still get viruses. In fact, there a few for Mac, but not many. The reason they can still get viruses is because the most common virus made IS for windows, but you can make them for Mac and Linux too. You know what I mean?

  • Pulls update headers.. try getting the yum opensource and do a manual install through the terminal, then instead of pkg use yum and you can see just about every update that you can install..

  • your voice is pretty epic, I am not gonna lie.

  • @rickyman1234 he sounds like Severus Snape from Harry Potter :P

  • @SayianZZ Haha

  • i kinda want to strange this guy because of his voice...

    yum.

  • MAC OS AND WINDOWS 7 ARE THE BEST! I HAVE EM BOTH!

  • @xRabicu of course that its the best you'll have because those systems are just for people without good skils maybe you must try to learn thins as a man and not just like a baby... in my opinion OpenBSD its the best ( things like security and realibity are just awesome) but of course users like you only make doble click an drag and drop and that just SUCKS!!!

  • yum

  • wow fail u have a virus as ur norton isnt working bottom right hand corner

  • Mac OSX FTW!!!

  • @seinfeldfan7898 EXACTLY!!

  • lol... snape on harry potter..

  • I think we all can agree that both Linux and Solaris are highly advanced Operating Systems boasting many features that not Microsoft nor Apple can say are incorporated into their Operating systems. However all Operating Systems have there place and it is the sole responsibility of the user to determine which he prefers and would be best for his application.

As for myself I multi-platform for this purpose (I am using a Vista machine with a Sun Workstation nearby).

  • u mean professor snape?! LOL!

  • He must have a terrible cold!!

  • MAC/LINUX>SOLARIS>WINDOWS

    microsoft=ftl

  • *microsoft FTW

    lol fail noob

  • windows 7 is the best OS on the market at the moment

  • WooHoo!

    Fail of the day!

  • i have it as well and it rocks =]

  • Yes, it is. By default something payd is better than something that is free.

  • Solaris vs Linux

    Linux:More drives,support and programs

Solaris:Fast,More stable and more security features

I like both so i use a vitural machine

  • I'm sure that it's a very reliable OS, but it just doesn't DO anything. Other than being used for servers or MAYBE modeling, I don't see it's uses.

  • dude, Linux is the way of the future! No viruses, yet. And it's faster, almost never slows down. Plus Windows can't top free, everything is free!

  • you know, i will allow your argument because this dispute has perhaps been going on so long

  • I agree with that, i'll never go back to Windows I love my Linux Mint which is based on Ubuntu has all the tools and stuff I need! :)

  • Bullshit. There aren't any Linux viruses "in the wild" do to its limited market share. As the percentage of Linux users increases you can bet your ballsack the rate of malware will too. As for windows being insecure; it's as secure as you make it. Honestly most people who get viruses are idots who don't really know what the hell they're doing. I've used Windows since 95 and have never gotten a virus.

  • ...Can't run all Exe's which is really inconvinient, plus this is the internet. If you want something for free, you get it for free. If you want windows for free, trust me. You can get it for free. Not to mention, I'd rather use ubuntu than this (which I do use).

  • @MokuCat Dude, there's a reason that Windows has been on top for the past 20 years. Lunix hasn't evolved. Most people want an OS that already works. They don't want to log 10+ hours a day in compiling kernels.

  • @MokuCat

    linux is not the future.

Unix is the way. whit this i mean BSD.

  • @MokuCat what about games?

  • @MokuCat But we can't play games :(... Oh yeah, Steam, Onlive, and GaiKai. Huh, what do you know about that?

  • @MokuCat No windows own

  • @MokuCat

There still exists viruses on Linux, and when Linux get more popular than Windows, virus developers are easy to do the job since it's an open source OS.

The most important thing is that Linux can't run Windows programs.

  • @hateWinVista Actually you are quite wrong as it can run anything on linux even windows programs

  • @15Sparky15 I find that Wine won't run most of the Windows programs that I want, that is why I always keep Windows installed next to it

  • @MrNumeroid I agree with this statement...but really if its really needed it will probably work as they have probably tested it...or there is an open source version of that program.

  • @MokuCat

Linux could be the way of the future if there has only ONE distribution with its own graphical-configuration tools like Mac or Windows has, cause dumbpeople just want to click, and thats why Linux gonna never be the desktop

  • @MokuCat Machintosh too.... But machintosh is easier than linux!!!!

  • @MokuCat No viruses. BECAUSE IT IS THE VIRUS MAKER.

  • @MokuCat Would YOU make a virus for a platform with less than 1 percent marketshare?

  • @MokuCat Free software is crap (99.9 % of it). Very few exceptions to this rule. Windows is a very good operating system. I agree it has many disadvantages but it also has many advantages. I think Apple's OS is going to become a serious rival of Windows though. Oh yeah, I'm an engineer running Debian and I know very well what I'm talking about. Companies don't care if software costs $5000 - they care if that software works. They have the money.

  • @kotapaka Yeah, especially if it comes with programs like IIS - Asp ¢ ASP.NET all WITH the operating system that is easy to manage, plus all the features that Windows Server has, I use it for my website and it is easy to set up IIS and asp.net ;-).

  • @MokuCat Also I can see that your argument is very very lame and you don't know what you're talking about. The reason is not that Linux has no viruses - there are plenty. I can write you one right now. And what do you mean by faster? And never slows down? loooool. Computers don't get tired and don't slow down anyways. Performance on windows is actually better than on Linux. However performance depends on application and hardware so discussing this is pointless.

  • @MokuCat What you've said is true, BUT linux doesn't have very much compatibility with games such as Fallout:New Vegas, or Steam games does it?

  • @MokuCat If more people ran LInux; More viruses would be written for Linux, then it would just have a shit ton of different viruses just like Windows.

  • Comment removed

  • @necopost I was going to make a comment about your grammar, but then I saw on your channel that English is your 3rd language. I only speak one language, so you're better than I am :D

  • @cjracer1000 ahaha.. well even if you just know english you're good english is hard to learn i also speak 3 languages.. well not being rude but .. for me english is the most cool and useful language to communicate

  • ummmm it has a little BSD tech and alot SysV r4, its definately not BSD kernel.

  • Yum.

  • clear as shit

  • Hi Sale,

Solaris is not Linux it BSD. BSD is very much behind Linux because it got cought up with a Legal battle with, I think it was Apple. BSD is the orginal but Apple also uses the BSD Kernal... Anyways to cut a story short because of this legal battle Linux took over the market and so all the software that is made for Open Source and commerical software tends to be for Linux (not including the Win market) It looks like he using VMware and that it not install no sound on my workscomputer

  • no it uses the unix mach kernel

  • what i dont understand why linux distros dont come with the installer like in this case yum! its like parts of os missing! linux is useless if you do not have internet access! wtf!

  • 1. Most Linux distros come with installers (debian derivates= .deb, most/many others= .rpm, and I think (not sure though) all= make install

    2. "linux is useless if you do not have internet access!"

It depends on what distribution you want to use, for instance Ubuntu pretty much IS quite useless without internet access, but others come with more software/codecs etc. pre-installed, so that you don't necessarily need the internet. But obviously you have internet, so what are you complaining about?
