  • WOW! I haven't heard this music in literally decades and I still remember it!

  • Brrrrrown.

  • The Palace theme is amazing.

  • Probably the worst zelda music of them all (but still good compared to other games) except for the palace theme WHICH I LOVE!

  • 2:46 on this one sounds eerily like 5:34 on Black Sabbath - Wheels of Confusion/The straightener

  • What song is 4:28?

  • "Hi I am error". The gold cartridge was a fashion piece, in fact I linked it to a cuban chain and it looks avant garde and hoes love me for it.

  • I AM ERROR

  • Is this the Zelda 2 run played by Breakdown? Looks very familiar.

  • Back in the days you had to solve riddles but it was challenging and fun. today's game you go in circles to find a key that opens up a box that has a key to open up the door to get to the place where you can find the door to the next key to pass that level It just gets to damn boring for me.

  • @CmdrofNine I wish there were more puzzles and stuff too. Sure, it sucked back in the day when you or your friends couldn't figure something out so you were forced to stop playing.. but now we have the internet, so there's no good reason, save the new young audience with zero attention span. :P

  • KICKIN' SOME ASS! KICKIN' SOME ASS! KICKIN' SOME ASS!

  • There is a rom patch of this game, where you can play as Error with more... explicit text, and different layout. But you need lunar ips and this to patch it..

  • Does anyone else ever hear Panic Attack by Dream Theater and think of the music at 4:30?

  • "When all else fails use fire"- in the zelda game links awakening link gets a fire rod and the game says "you got the fire rod! Yeah! BURN BABY BURN!" XD lol

  • The song at 5:20 reminds me of heavy metal that I listen to with the scales, and that is so sick cause everytime I listen to metal I think of video games lmao!

  • Video games for free via steam!

    Points2game D O T Com

  • yeah this game took me a long time to beat , like 5 years, but when i beat it, i realize that my gaming skillz improved tremendously, games from today now look soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy....

  • @Segasarge *wide eyes nods yes* Definitly. Games back then were soooooo much harder. I got my ass kicked back then so much. Now a days, games are fairly simple.

  • @ILUV412 ya but games nowadays arent rlly tht great.

  • @geminiman1313 Yeah =P

  • It took me 15 years to beat this game. True Story.

  • @funkjaw It took me about 4 years, I didn't have the cartdrige and I had to rent it and indeed I only beat it after I got access to the inter back in 1999 and downloaded a walkthrough. The first Zelda game took me 2 years, again, I didn't have the cart and I had to get it from the game shop from time to time.

  • @funkjaw Took me around that time, too!

  • I thought this game was a lot of fun, especially the palaces. It had the strategy elements of an RPG, but lots of side-scrolling action, too.

  • So you definitely left out the theme for The Great Palace which has to be one of the best songs in the entire game!

  • It's 5:45 am and I should've been to bed hours ago, but I can't stop watching these videos...tomorrow's going to be a bitch, but watching these vids is worth it!

  • 5:29 HOLY SHIT A FUCKING CANDLE SUDDENLY EVERYTHING FLASHES COLORS I THINK THE CANDLE IS ACTUALLY LSD

  • i sucked at this game. Enough said.

  • I never played that many games during the NES era when I was around 7 or 8 but this is one of the few games I have fond memories of, especially the music. It truly immersed me in the game and I felt like I was in the game. Good times.

  • Best zelda game ever relased.

    Enough said

  • @CMOODO Got that right.

  • This game is coming in the mail ! I'm excited!

  • This game drove me mad. It was so hard and I was 10. Damn those caves. My nephew can't grasp the concept of difficult when he plays his ridiculously easy and forgiving games on his Playstation 3. That's the generation of the 80's, we learnt persistence.

  • The one who clicked the dislike button is error

  • 111+ likes, 1+ dislikes, who is the hater(s) who hates listening to "The Music Of Video Games [30] Zelda II" for?

  • :,)

  • 4:25

  • probally my all time favroite game, apart from battletoads ofcorse

  • Seeing this again, takes me WAY BACK to my childhood. Especially the tune that starts at 1:22. Makes me feel a bit melancholy, wishing I could re-live those good times.

  • Must underrated game ever.

  • One of my favorite all time NES games, and my 2nd favorite zelda game, 2nd to A link to the past. OOT coming probly 3rd or the Orignal nes zelda its a toss up.

Has alot of excellent music in this game

  • @ilovecardj Agree completely. I'd put the Zelda games in the same order. I'd put Link's Awakening for GB before the original though not sure if it would be before OOT or not.

  • @createaschweim damn, that's hilarious (& true)!

  • I have no idea why people hate on this zelda. I love the way this game plays out. Every enemy has a certain strategy to kill them the most efficiently. In most other Zelda games a lot of enemies you can just hack and slash. Also, I love the leveling system; it really brings up the replay value. You can try for level 1 Attack/Magic/Life runs or try to get through without some of the spells.

<3 this Zelda. It's my favorite of the series although OoT really comes close.

  • This is pure EPICNESS!! The 1st 2 Zelda's are amazing!! Everything after that doesn't compare.

Jesus though, I used to get so pissed off at this game when I was younger. AH shit, who am I kidding, I STILL get pissed at video games LOL! But I love them all the same, and I know better not to throw my controllers hehe

  • I love the Music but Hate the game

  • OMG. It's nostalgia central. I always loved this game, and it's music.

  • 4:27 is all i need.

  • Zelda II and Game Genie make a great couple.

  • this always was my fav zelda....prob cause it was my first lol

  • My favorite game from this series.

  • This game was a pain in the ass to beat, but you had motivating music behind to keep on telling you that it was gonna be okay.

  • I finally beat this game, I dont think I'll ever play it again! Loved it! Thats fo sho!

  • That temple theme is one of the best songs to come out of the eighties, video game or not.

  • @Fuujinryu You should check out the duane and brando version of zelda II, just don't mind the language, but the music is killer.

  • felicidades greats days in the nes era fabulosa musica de grandes juegos

  • I love all these music of video games, brings back memories!

  • You missed like 3 songs.

The Great Palace, the boss music and the final boss (although it's almost the same as the normal boss fight)

  • it really makes you wonder, when the hell in zelda 3 coming out?

  • old zelda games have the best songs ever....for real im not even just saying that

  • If All Other Games Fail, Use Original 2

  • This game is absolutely epic and timeless... watching this video has inspired me to go through it again for about the 30th time :D

  • As I stated in the previous video for Zelda, I loved the music so much, I bought the soundtrack for this game: Zelda The Music.

  • Alright so you left out the best music in the game, the Great Palace.

  • Nah dude if plan A fails go to plan B. C-4

    LOL!

  • music is awesome :)

  • ah zelda 2 4 ever =)

  • I just love the Zelda series! My faves were Link to the past, Links awakeing, Orcarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Despite that im actually an old school gamer. But as a kid couldn't understand legend of Zelda but Zelda 2, I got far in but couldn't beat till bout 4 years ago when I bought Zelda collections. I still have to beat seasons, ages, twighlight princess and.........well hmm...the one for DS.

  • "If all else fails, use fire."

This statement can be applied to every situation in life.

  • If All Else Fails use fire.... Yea Fire does solve almost every problem! Good One dude.

  • @createaschweim

    yuppers

  • @createaschweim even impotency!? D:

  • @createaschweim Just like duct tape =D

  • @createaschweim unless drowning.

    :/

  • @createaschweim ok then lets try this...

    my sister is dying!!!!! help!!

    -light her on fire-

    -dead-

    hey it works!

  • Does the song at 4:27 have a name? I'm having a hard time finding a variety of sheet music for this game...

  • I think its just "Palace", called "sanctuary" in the "Triforce Trilogy".

    I know, my english sucks.

  • Timeless game, and the best in a great Series. Darker, more challenging than the rest, a true adventure-quest game. Spent countless nights limping back to town to save with half a health bar left..

Christmas '88 - unwrapped NES with Super Mario/Duck Hunt and the Legend of Zelda II: Adventure of Link. That gold cartridge looked and felt like a treasure. Stayed up all night with my dad playing, he bought Legend of Zelda and Kid Icarus a couple days later. Best Christmas ever :)

  • Same, I remember forcing my mom to let me open presents at 2 o' clock in the morning because I just knew she got me zelda2. I ended up playing it all night & slept most of that Christmas day away.

This was my favorite game ever released on the NES, I have gone back & replayed it a bunch of times. Definitely the most challenging Zelda, but also most memorable. Anybody who didn't like this game should really give it another chance.

Also: who can forget "I AM ERROR" =P.

  • LOL, I got my first NES the same year, actually Christmas Eve '88. I was 8 years old. Mario/Duck Hunt. All night, me and my brother played it. By the time 8am came to open presents, we didnt want to stop playing. Not long afterwards we went out and got Zelda and Zelda II. I absolutly LOVE Zelda II, its my favorite game in the series as well. I agree dude. The Christmas of 1988 was THE BEST EVER!

  • Me too, I got Zelda II for Christmas. The gold cartridge! That game lasted forever, it was amazing. I listed to this kind of music when i am working, it's takes me right back!

Those were the best christmas' ever...

  • Anyway, the music in this game always reminds me of Pokemon, the bleeps are so un-Zelda...

  • the best one in the series.

  • Does that include the CD-i games? If it does, you have a weird taste but, fair enough.

  • I never played the CD-i games, soo.... Well I love Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, and Link's Crossbow Training, but Zelda II is just a clueless game, thats all

  • No, the worst Zelda game are the *Shudder* CD-i games... trust me on that one.

  • Sorry dumb zelda 2 question - why do people cancel out of the level-up screen and avoid taking the upgrade?

  • To get a different upgrade.

  • Oops yep, I should've watched more of the vid and noticed this.. :) thanks

  • The bastard child of Nintendo-made Zelda games. It was always too hard for me, but I'm definitely going to give it another shot when I have time.

The music just isn't as epic as the other games in the series.

  • oh man, hyrule temple's theme is in this one

  • Are you kidding, this game is great dude. I think its better than the original.

  • I didn't know you could confuse a knight like that!

  • You know, this doesn't seem like such a bad choice in retrospect. I mean, all of the Zelda games are in 3D nowadays so it's not like they stuck with the original format all of this time.

  • I find that Nintendo was "experimenting" with the format of the Zelda series... Once they got to LttP, that format stuck... (Why eslse would the first three games in the series feel so different from one another?)

  • Uh, typo: *else

  • Why eslse would the first three games in the series feel so different from one another?

    hardware limitations probly.

  • I use to suck at this one, but I remember watching my brother play through and beat it on multiple occasions. Brings back the memories.

  • I had a blast playing this game. The final battle with you shadow is still one of the most amazing and challenging AI fights I've ever seen in any game. I really enjoyed this game just as much as the first one, music and all.

  • I am Error

  • @garysteel1984

Best video game quote ever, of the past and future!

  • @garysteel1984 The joke's on you, he really WAS Error.

  • 101 likes, 0 dislikes, this game is epic

  • @garysteel1984

    best quote of all time

  • The eyes of ganon are everywhere.

  • @stepminestepminestep Ganon used to scare me so bad when i was little playing this game XD What a pisser laughing at you when you die in this game! =P

  • kool

  • I may be in the minority but this was my favorite Zelda for the NES..such innovation with tthe side scrolling and the exp points. Played it for the first time in @ 20 years and it felt like I had never put down the controller, amazing how a fantastic game like this burns a place in your memory.

  • I am one of the lucky few whose cartridge battery didn't lose that much power so I actually still had an old school save-game still stored on mine. I wanna guess-timate it at about 15 years old. *tear*

  • I agree with both of these comments. I am also in the minority by enjoying this game more than the original. I had this thick pink walkthrough book for it too and it was so hard trying to keep the pages open while figuring out where the fuck to go.

  • awesome music!!!!!!!!!

  • this was my least favorite zelda but I still like it and the music is awesome

  • this was my first zelda game, loved it! hard but every time i could get to the first temple i was ecstatic cuz of the temple music!

  • I was 12 back then

    Wonderfull game ...finished it

  • This game is TOUGH. I had such a hard time playing through it that I gave up and didn't look back for a while. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game and the music is rad, but it's just so damn hard. Trying to get that jump-and-slash method so precise so you don't get hit back is one of the hardest things ever.

  • most underrated game in the zelda series , buhu it was diffrent.. so what it was still epic good :D

  • I'd still like a sequel to this game, in this style. Zelda II was hard but fair, awesome game :).

  • My favorite of the Zelda games. Zelda II, than Zelda I, than Zelda III (Link to the Past). This game brings back memories of being a kid in the 1980s. The music was awsome in this game. It's the type of game you can play with the lights off to the sounds of wind chimes or crickets. Nothing in modern compares.

  • This game is a lot harder, challenging, and entertaining than the first. Especially since it at least has several sound tracks unlike the first one haha.

  • Hardest Zelda title IMO.

  • This game kicks ass while kicking your ass at the same time!

  • One of those games i've still yet to beat... just GETTING to the Great Temple ate up my lives, so i had nothing i could do when i actually GOT there. GAH.

  • If you continue after you get there, then you start at the great temple with 3 lives... getting there was a pain in the ass tho!

  • Beating this without losing a life was my compensation for devoting my childhood to Nintendo instead of to girls.

  • hehe 1988...i still remember the day i bought zelda2 it was golden

  • Those are rare now... do you still have it? :)

  • I have "The Legend of Zelda" and "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link" golden cartridges. I bought them when they were first released and I'm glad that I still own them.

  • Yeah same here. sucha fun game, Dark Link was nuts at the end, just would keep relentlessly rushing you.

  • Dark Link is a giuneas (?) ^^

i love his moves and is accuraty

    and the color of course

  • If you can manage to get far enough away from him, he just kinda stands there. Gives you a little time to cast Life and breathe a bit.

  • Best Zelda and best zelda music

  • damn, this game brings me back

  • This brings back memories

  • I had no idea that it wasn't Kondo who composed Zelda II's OST...

  • 2:18: THis music is great.

  • The music in Zelda 2 is so much more ornamented and.. improvisational(?) than the others. It's a nice change.

  • "I am Error"

  • "When all else fails, use fire."

  • this makes me wanna buy back my nintendo and all my games

  • Really good Zelda II skills. This is by far my favorite Zelda in the series, and some of my favorite songs!

  • 4:27 !!!!!!!!!

  • oh man I grew up with this game, emotions..

  • That second song is so great. Couldn't get enough of that.

  • whats the name of the third song that played?

  • While largely regarded as inferior to the first Zelda game, I have to say the music in this game is better then the first game by a long shot.

  • They should remake this really

  • Great F*king Video man. Great F*king Video

  • I love the theme of this game so very very much, my second fave Zelda song ever.

  • This music is a trip down memory lane back to my innocent childhood!

  • Thanks for this blast into the past. I'm 33 years old and I had forgotten all about this game, and it was my favorite. Thanks again.

  • I didn't play this much, but I remember the music being really cool. I especially loved the surprise twist on the original theme song.

Man, it's so great to see and hear all these games! It's nice for when you wanna be nostalgic about the ones you played/heard, but helpful for the ones you DIDN'T. Thanks Garudoh! ^_^

  • I loved this Zelda played the shit out this one.

  • Between the music and the video you've really captured the nostalgia from the entire game in one little package. This is like the eighth one I've listened to. Amazing work.

  • Thanks man.

  • I remember playing just to get to the first palace to listen to the music, I liked its theme that much.

  • Great compositions, but -massive- overuse of the vibrato effect!

  • What is the vibrato effect?

  • A deliberate wavering of voice or string; hard to replicate on 8-bit machines (or any machine for that matter)

  • With all of those long notes it'd probably be irritating to listen to for long without the vibrato.

  • Yeah, well... except it's used a lot on shorter ones too. But point taken.

  • hell, I appreciate that they tried. this truly was an experimental 8-bit game. kudos to Nintendo, and kudos to you garudoh for uploading this series.

  • I think it was a really good try since I think it's the best zelda game.

  • ollllllldschool...loved this game :D

  • I still love it. xD

    And the music is top-notch!

    Classic. :')

    And quite damn underrated. >_>
