  • so use it for makiking biofuel :)

  • Yes, those off shoots WILL regenerate.

I have removed kudzu before, and its a MONSTER, those off shoots with tubers form new crowns, and the crowns also send tubers a few feet underground, when you remove the crown and top tubers the deep tubers generaly will not come back till next year, but understand, they will come back.

It takes a few years to sucessfully and thoroughly kill this disgusting vine in an infested area.

  • @LocustsOfSteel The strongest and most concentrated poison only temporarly weakens it, and generaly will not kill it.

For faster and more sucessful removal, you must pull/dig out the deep tubers, they hold in tight, and the roots that go between the crown to the deep tubers are rather brittle so pulling on that part will yeild little results, you must pull the tuber itself.

I'm sorry to say this, but you fave to disturm the soil to get rid of it.

  • @LocustsOfSteel After removal, scatter clover seeds, they will do well to hold the topsoil afterwards, and will help to naturaly increase nitrogen for new plant growth next year.

Kudzu is not imposible to remove, but it is a pain in the back.

Your best bet is to pull the babys before they turn into a network of monsters.

    Good luck, and happy hunting.

  • @LocustsOfSteel A few more thougs to mention...

The mest tools to use are:

1: A two cycle lawn mower, with a mulching blade, preferably with a rear drive... two cycles do not have/need an oil resovoir dut to the oil gas premix, this is useful because you can push down the handle to lift the front without drowning out the engine in oil, then move forward and drop the blade on a mound of kudzu ground cover... thus clearing the ground so you can see the mothervines and crowns.

    ...

  • @LocustsOfSteel Tools continued:

2: (if there are still trees) A pole lopper... kudzu mothervines come back each spring and the smaller vines climb them. Cuting the climbing mothervines high enough prevents smaller vines from wraping around the hanging vine and reinfecting the tree next year.

3: Machete, loppers, and saw... Lots of uses, also helps to remove chinese privits (also invasive), wich generaly grow well with kudzu and help to hold it off the ground and protect it from mowers.

    ....

  • @LocustsOfSteel Tools continued:

4: Shovel and pick/cutter mattok. These can help to ease with removal of crowns and tubers, and are great for the removal of deep tubers.

5: Goats and fence (optional). Goats will eat about anything, and pretty much take the place of the mower, they also weaken whats left of the vine from foliage loss.

Keeping them in a seemingly cleared area will finish off the hiden tubers and seeds trying to make a comeback later and next year...

  • @LocustsOfSteel Finishing up... at last:

Although goats are wonderful for this purpose, they might not be alowed in your area due to burocratic turds because they are considered by law as "live stock", so you may have some explaining to do and some authorization to get depending on where you are.

Well... That about sums up profesional kudzu killing, and hopefully someone runs into these posts, utalizes them, and "SPREADS THE WORD".

So, goobye, good luck, and happy monster hunting :)
