Actually, no. The high pitched sound is the compressor, not the fan blades.

The fan blade tips are traveling faster than the speed of sound, but much of the fan noise is caused by the interaction of the trailing edge of the fan blades with the downstream stator vanes. This becomes clear as the high pitched compressor noise gets drowned out by the even louder, more forceful fan blade noise (the lower-pitched grinding noise).
