  • The engine noise reminds me of the scream given by a warrior making a charge in an old Japanese samurai drama.

  • Hakosuka GTR > New GTR

  • Straight 6.... The Best..!...Wordless

  • Comment removed

  • best car in the world

  • He's 63... Looks about 43 and drives like a 23 year old!

  • Best Motoring!

  • mmmmmmmmmmm..m....mmmmmmmmmmm,,...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • I don't understand why they said this was the last run of a hakosuka gt-r on Fuji speedway? Anyone with a GT-R can go to an open track day or sign up for a classic racing event and go race there, I'm sure they have plenty track days there.

  • Did you know that inline-six is the best engine configuration? It creates least vibrations and runs smooth as possible. Same story for v12, as it's basicly two inline-sixes

  • @gogocro1

flat-6 too. All the others need balance shafts and stuff ^^

  • Legendary sound, legendary car!

  • amazing sound

  • It gives me an errection

  • That sound *_____*

  • Play this video when I am ill and will jump out of the bed immediate!.

This is unbelievable.. YEEEEEHAAAAAAAA..........goosebumps all over.

    Old school 6-cylinder engine sound.

  • That beauty eats the corners! WANT

  • Thumbs up for searching Hakosuka GTR after watching Fast Five

  • @BoQuan22 What do you mean? Was a hakosuka in that movie or it was simply mentioned?

  • @ozilevin200 at the beginning of the movie. paul walker is driving it with jordana brewster in passenger seat

  • Thumbs after for searching Hakosuka after watching Fast Five

  • Ive always wondered what that thing on the front of these old cars that looks like a mini intercooler. Anyone know?

  • @seven7thirteen13

    Oil cooler dude.

  • @seven7thirteen13 the "mini intercooler" your talking about is actually an oil cooler its was popular with kpgc's in the 60's and 70's

  • @seven7thirteen13 Thats the oil cooler/radiator of the engine :)

  • I was thinking which musik I want on my funeral..... This will be it. Fat engine sound.

There will still be goosebumps on my skin. YEAH.......

  • whoa this is auditory porn man..

  • farting 4banger motor there, sounds very torqueless...

  • @galax64 i want to see your ford beat this car, and after THAT we can talk further. and btw this is a inline 6...

  • @galax64 its a 2 liter straight 6 twincam carby run motor...4 bangers cant make that sort of crisp sharp note as the fireing sequence is different. and straight 6s per liter make more torque then an equal size v type motors.

  • I think I have a new favourite japanese car.

  • Nissan guys if you ever read this which i know you wont, stop making mass produced crap and take a listen to this wonderful old S20 exhaust note

the way the revs crackle and pop through the gears, the lovely high rpm staccato along the fuji straight

this is what cars are all about

i hope the Japanese car industry remember this soon

  • @cunt3d

Problem is the French. They bought Nissan and saved it from going into receivership, but in the process of streamlining production and reducing costs, they've killed off some of the greatness of the Nissans of old. I mean, the VQ series motors are fine, but they lack the SOUL of the S, L, and RB motors.

I'd like to get hold of the new VK56VE they're putting in the Infiniti M56 though, and build a bespoke car around it. 420hp/417lb-ft deserves something better than a heavy sedan...

  • @DrifterTank240 Emissions regulations killed those engines. Without Renault there'd be no Nissan, no R35 GTR, no Juke, no Z, nada.

  • @zaktoob

As a former factory-cert Nissan tech, I can tell you the cars introduced after the Renault buyout just don't....feel the same. They're...I dunno. Rougher, is one word I could use. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Nissan fanboy; I'd take a new Nissan over most other brands. It's just that I'd take an older Nissan over a new one, given the choice.

BTW, though, I want to see a MR16DDT from the Juke tucked into a Versa and turned up a bit. Sleeper fun, anyone? :)

  • @DrifterTank240 i agree with you the rb engines are among the best 6s ever made i hate v type engines and refuse to own one. you get a sharp and strong feeling from a straight 6 you dont get from a v layout. plus they make more torque per liter vs v types. i wish nissan and toyota would build 6s again. bmw is switching back from v8s so why cant nissan and toyota :( the 1jzgte in my supra is phenominal! and sounds amazing on full song. even better are the old nissan and yota carbi 6s!

  • @cunt3d They havent forgot! The "Mass produced crap" you speak of were the basis for, and paved the way for the race engines that made Nissan/Datsun a legend on and off the track. This engine might sound good on the track, but if they made them like this today you'd get sick of it, very VERY quickly on a daily drive to anywhere. I know, I have a well-built N/A Z myself.

  • Lol the camera car was faster.

  • 5 people who watched this are deaf

  • @B00uge yes im deaf now......but im soooo happy that the last thing i heard was this :D

  • GOD i wish i am rich

  • Listen to that noise! Pure porn for the ears!

  • The most beautiful exhaust note in the world, ever, there's Ferrari's that dont even compare to this.

If i had the choice between this and a 1000hp R32 GT-R i'd still have to say this, i'd burn my R30 and my R32 and sell everything i own for one of these...

  • since a couple of weeks, i find myself watching this video again and again just to hear that awesome engine sound of hakosuka. it makes me feel good. :)

  • I've got tears in my eyes. Thanks for posting this, it's just magic!

  • looks like fiat 125p

  • @machal89sc wtf...!?

  • The factory fitted L-series engine (L28?) sounds very similar to the S20 when hotted up/fitted with same carbs and exhaust etc.

  • @therealracer135 hell no no l28 sounds like a 24v s20. close tho not quite as high pitched tho. also the s20 is one hell of an epensive motor

  • @Sandman85Nihon Yeah they dont get as high up in the revs as the S20.

  • looks like a mk1 escort from a distance.

  • its nice to see the child come out of old drivers...

  • Just imagine the sound of that s20 vs the rx3 and its melodic rotary redline lol

i need an rx2/3 and a hakosuka parked side by side in my garage asap

  • man the S20 is beast def one of the most legendary motors ever. im sorry but id rather take a s20 then a 2jzge any day. NA FTW.

  • i dont even need to watch this video, the sounds are more than enough. god i love that sound. my s2000 sounds great at 9150rpms but this thing is pure evil.

  • That thing looks so awesome. Probably the best looking historic japcar.

  • i would trade a mercedes benz for this baby.. lol

  • and all that was changed was tyres lol

  • I'll be sure to track this car on Fuji all the tme on Gran Turismo 5 ;)

  • gotta love the outboard oil cooler hahaha

  • I must buy one!

    Hakosuka rocks!

  • At 1:20 it sounds like a fighter jet!

  • @buickboy92 Thats the sound of Short Stroke and a Big bore + high compression + 3 side draft carbs + DOHC

    awesome shit

  • i just jizzed in my pants

  • lol this is like the 5th time i have come back to this video. God damn that sound is SOOOO GOOOD

  • legendary.

  • holy shit those are fast they sound so great

  • My blood boiling for the sound...this would be my new car in WMMT3dx+...

  • Simply amazing

  • Holy Mother.......

  • good to see one in person let alone drive one. holy shit!

  • what a sound. i just had a little orgasim lol

  • now i need a fresh underwear, this car makes me drewl. Wanna have :D

  • L Power!

  • omg .... i could close my eyes and listen to that all day!

  • Oh, hello grandfather. You're still nimble for an old man. The car that is.. Gan-San on the other hand made me smile and feel a rush of happiness seeing him reminisce.

    "The good old days.."

  • i just jizzed in my pants

  • 1:37 i cant stop listen :D

  • lol gan san looks like he was almost going to shed a tear at the end

if i had my choice i would have 4 kpgc10s, an all original, a modern equipped daily driver with tons of power and adjustability, a pure race car like the one in the video, and a weekend cruiser with some really nice paint, wheels and other details. dreams are great arent they :)

  • Well said sir. I can never get bored of looking at kpgc10's.

  • I enjoy car engines...probably alot more than i should

  • Just...amazing...godzilla all motor damn too nice...responce and everything god o god

  • Beautiful car...

  • Nice car. Nice sound.

  • People pick ferraris and lamborghinis. I say Pfft, I have money, I'm buying two, One for the road, The other for a mad race car!

  • The sound of baby lions being fed into the engine. LOL.

Yeah, this engine sound is heavenly. It brings out the real GT-R gene.

  • ooooorrrgasmic hehe :P freakin nice sound

  • If I won the lottery tonight, I would fly to Japan tomorrow and buy one of these!!

  • hell i'll buy a couple of them ahah

  • @fubar250 I buy two. One, completely stock with the S20. The other would get an RB26 swap :D

  • @TTSWOWPS the rb26 is cool no doubt but i think the s20 is the only motor for the Skyline.

  • Comment removed

  • hah, rb25 in a go kart?! i wonder if you know the size of a go kart comparing to the size of RB25. Think about it...

  • Not even a rb25. It`s L series engine. Don`t remember the specific model of it.

  • No, it's an S20.

    2.0 liter, DOHC, 24-valve inline-six with hemispherical cross-flow heads and triple-sidedraft carbs. The stock street version made 160hp...from 2 liters...in 1970....

  • Yeah forgot.. :P S12 Silhouette used L engine.

  • No, the S12 silhouette used a turbo charged 2 litre dohc of which name has escaped my memory.

  • guess that's LZ20B-T/C...

  • @DrifterTank240 s20 has multiple cylinder heads? news to me brah

  • @sdfE36

Okay, nitpicking ninnie, "Cross-flow HEAD" then. Happy now?

  • @DrifterTank240

how much power is this motor making? where can i find some specs on this exact car?

  • @xjoviex

Couldn't tell you what the race motors made, best guess would be somewhere around 220bhp. I know the street version of the S20 was rated at 160bhp. That is impressive when you consider it displaces only 2.0 liters and this was late 60's-early 70's. By comparison, the L28 in my '77 280Z was rated at 170bhp stock, and that's with 40% more displacement.

  • you'll need a really long go kart..

  • Nice engine sound!! Nissan forever

  • Who gives a shit about VTEC when you have a S20 under the bonnet...

  • to clovisclovis

vtec has nothing to do with nissan other than the fact that nissan has tried to recreate thier own version of the vtec so im a big hondafanatic and even i said wow props on whoever posted da vid

  • What are the specs of this Hakosuka GTR? I would like to drop this engine on my gokart please =D

  • Its probably not practical to drop a 40 year old engine, that's probably especially sort after due to its legend, into a gokart. :p

Try something common like a RB25 or something.

  • rb's are way too big for that go kart. i think b16 is much nicer. LOL!!!

  • very easy to get that sound... just use a RB20De and slap 6 throtle bodies on and a set of extractors el'presto you now have a S20 ..very temping to do when you know someone that has a 240k coupe ( C110)

  • I got chills just listening to this! D=

  • I just pitched a tent.

  • The way the narrarator pronounces Hakosuka give me goose bumps. Doesn't he get info on how to say stuff properly so he doesn't look like a tard?

  • the skyline is one of the best things what people ever made i think ... i give you 10 stars but sadly i can just 5 :D

  • its a beautiful piece of machinery, wouldn't you say??

  • How much RPMs have this one?

  • That is the most beautiful sound ever to be thrust from an exhaust pipe...

  • what a fantastic sound that car makes for how old it is just like all skylines fucking brillant engines :-)

  • i love it it got no stupid cat convuter

    back in the 60s

I love jappanees cars better dan german

  • yeah i just dont like idiots who act like they know about cars just because they know what a skyline is

  • BEAUITIFUL.....

  • i really wonder how he got it to sound like that?

  • Straightpipe would be my guess...that's just how the engine sounds, no special mufflers required, much like the RB series engines :)

  • what type of engine does this car have?

  • S20 2.0L n/a inline 6.

  • man from 2:16-2:22 man it really does sound like all of the modern tuned GTRs today. This was definitely the pioneer of the GTRs we all love today.

  • Soooo fucking SICK.......

I wish my G37 sounded like this.

  • Fuck the V-tec.

    listen to the rb greatness.

  • I wish they put an RB in the R35. The VQ is still pretty cool but the RB is associated with the Skyline.

  • you do know that not only is the engine in this skyline the s20 (not an rb), but the R35 does NOT have a VQ, it's a VR38.

  • ok wat does all that mean in english? :p

  • The engine in the Nissan GT-R (the new one) is a VR38DETT (3.8L Twin Turbo V6). The engine in the car in the video is the S20 (2.0 L N/A Inline 6).

The VQ he was talking about is the V6 engine that's in the 350z/370z/Maxima/etc. (VQ is the engine name...it comes in diff. displacements, most commonly the 3.5L and 3.7L)

  • The RB is what comes in the R31/R32/R33/R34 skylines and in a few years of the Holden Commadore (and a few other special cars). It is either a 2.0L/2.5L/2.6L/3.0L inline 6 and can be N/A/Turbo/or Twin Turbo.

If this isn't detailed enough, check out wiki on the nissan engines.

  • Oddly enough, I find that a properly tuned RB26 sounds very similar.

  • I know man I was thinking the same thing. Just listen at 2:15-2:19

  • R.I.P.

  • Why is the comment section being filled with Honda gibber gabber? This should be nissans comments only

  • Big horsepower from small capacity engines is nothing new. Honda may have V-tec but over 50 years ago BRM were getting 500+ hp from 1.5 litres! It was V16 and supercharged but still only 1500cc.

  • dude, honda developed vtec in early 90s or even late 80s... and turbocharging isn't "fair" in motorsports, for example, 1.5 l bmw had 1300hp :) so N/A is N/A, turbocharging and supercharging is a field of lot more horses..

  • i dont really give a fuck about all you people going on about vtec , im enjoying the sound of this gtr !!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree with you so much

Just listen this great engine sound.

there is no v-tec things in it but it way better than v-tec things

  • Considering this car was from 1969, 2 litre DOHC 24v and triple carbs was hi-tech. No computers, fuel injection or turbos back then.

  • the motor sound is like music to me

  • even toyota has "vtech" and they aim to make their cars simple

  • Seriously, who would take a fuckin vTech dime a dozen civic over a C10? I'll just never understand it.

In all seriousness, will someone please tell me what is so great about vTech? And the b20. That confuses me too. Since the fastest b20, the gold top, made 160 hp (same as this 40yo car) and the rest made more like 130. Please, vTech thumpers, explain.

  • VTech is only for street cars that ricers want to pretend are also fast race cars. From the comments I got to wonder if the "Vtech for life" crowd wvwn knows. It's just a larger cam! Garantee the car in this video has a wilder cam then any Vtech motor.

  • Exactly... it's insane. These vTec guys hear the cams switch and flip a bitch. It's not the fucking UberBooster. It's just a cam switch. Get over it.

  • +1 on that.

Vtec = variable valve timing; fiat has it, alfa has it, bmw has it, porsche has it, mb has it, gm has it, everyone has it. Ricers think that "YO DA VTEC" makes their cars special, nope.

  • My thoughts exactly.

  • It's not the same. VTEC is variable valve lift. It uses a smaller lobe in lower RPMs, and a larger one is higher RPMs.

The big thing about it, is that you can get better than 100% VE with a NA engine. It's really the only way to make a small displacement NA engine, IMO.

If you could get a system like this on a V8, would you still hate it? Because it would make the old V8s obselete.

  • No, its the same.

  • The same as????

  • And I wouldn't want it on a V8, because I drive a flat 4 :)

  • nice, subies ftw! I drive a 99 Aspen GC

  • VTEC is variable valve timing not lift. Its impossible to get near 100% VE with a normaly aspirated engine..only turbo's can do that. If that was possible, we wouldn't have turbo's!

  • No. You're wrong on both.

  • I doubt that..

  • zedman you fucking jew VTEC is lift.

Variable valve timing AND electronic LIFT control

  • Woopy fuckin doo.... you VTEC legend! So I was wrong...Sorry to all the RICERS I've offended.

  • I love watching these youtube fights lol

  • I know...I can't help but participate! Personally, I don't really give a shit about VTEC or what it does, these Honda worshipers really get fired up if you get something wrong heh? All I know is a Honda could never sound like this....

  • I've never even owned a Honda. I have 3 Nissans.

I just don't like stupid people spreading misinformation about.

  • What misinformation? I was half right. Nobody has shown any proof about NA engines with more than 100% volumetric efficiency...Big fucking deal if I left out that info about variable lift....I couldn't care less. Stupid? Show some video's of work you have done...other than competing on car parks with witches hats...

  • read up on the helmholtz effect. and a book called reynolds numbers.upper teir race engines opperate at +100% VE.

  • Comment removed

  • B20's don't have VTEC. There are factory honda motors with vtec that have more than double the hp you listed. Only thing you are right about is that VTEC isn't anything special.

  • I know the b20 isn't vtec, I was just referring to the amount of RicerLove the B20 gets, like vtec

  • I am a Vtec lover I love the sound it makes but it is not so damn special sinec nearly every other brand has it aswell, but what makes those engines great is that Honda is easily pulling out 160 bhp out of a 1.6L engine, that is what honda is best at.

  • This I can appreciate. Honda does do a great job of getting good power out of very small displacement.

  • I don't care what car can go faster than this, few others have this level of personality. Totally beautiful stuff.

  • Vtec is nice and all...if you dont have the bread to buy something that earned the nickname godzilla....vtec is just vtec...

  • vtec for life

  • Sounds better then any American fartcan V8

  • No VTEC, no care. :shifty
