When they ended i was young, but I love this stuff, and so do all 4 of the kids in our home.I know it is because we love America and this music uplifts our God given country.
I've gone on to prefer music that might be considered edgier and more modern than the Statlers, but they are an inextricable part of my childhood. This performance took place in the year I was born, and until about age 12 our family's record player and 8-track had the Statlers in heavy rotation. So many of their songs send me into nostalgic reverie. I might be an indie rock, electronica and hip-hop head now, but I do know that the Statlers were never quite as good after Lew's departure.
This song is so depressing to me. Not because it's a bad song, but because it reminds me of all the time I've wasted, and how I am in my own class of '57.
@bigtymer01rk maybe you havent wasted it, you just think you have. theres probably a ton of stuff you think was pretty bad or meaningless, but guess what thats life. have another cold one :)
I was ten years old in 1975 when my mom bought their Greatest Hits vinyl record. I listened to it at least once a week. I still have the record but haven't played it recently. Their music is timeless and Dailey and Vincent honored them with their CD Dailey and Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers
And I married Linda Marie. My class of 57 has met every 5 years since and the locals meet every year in between. I have always thought our class was special and this song has been played at many reunions. Thank you S Bs.
I started school in 57-- do I also qualify as a member of the class of 57? Some of us DIDN"T want to change the world with our great works and deeds- but it changed anyway-- a lot, and a lot of it not for the good. Anyway, great song and thanks for posting it!!
Got this book yesterday, cannot put it down. What a terrific group of men. I've loved their music from day one and it just doesn't get any better than these guys.
My mother was class of "57 Her name was Mavis, I have never forgotten that, I cry my eyes out every time I hear this song! Great song!! Happy Mothers day Mom!! I love 'flowers on the wall" Statler Bros keep doing what you do!!!

My mother was class of '57....I miss her ...I miss you guys! I don't miss your music because I play it so often! I just turned 45, but I remember my dad's convertible and the 8-tracks of Statler brothers! Enough to mold my world in a RIGHT way!
about 15 yrs. ago i was doing some work at a holiday lnn where i live, went in for coffee and there sat the statler bros. a young kid was trying to break in their tour bus,i told them they took care of it and invited me for breakfast. never met any nicer folks. i could have stayed all day, what a treat
That was also the last time anybody said "gee". I'm kidding. I love the Statlers, too. I think that Elizabeth is my all-time fave. They're all beautiful, though.
Yeah. That is right. I love this song too. Too bad I cannot sing very well!!!! I know one thing if I went to Nashville I would not sing but I would love to meet them.
The pride of Staunton, Virginia!

Since I graduated in 1967, I've always substituted that year for '57. It still fits the class.
