Aral sea will not restore its original size.

Because of the irrigation systems upstream the major rivers, there is not enough water reaching the sea. The solution is to make some countries to abandon their irrigation. Thats is not an option. Other solution is to make irrigation better and less water consuming. Too expensive for poor central asia countries.

Kazakhstan just saved one small section of the sea.

Whole intstitution works on saving Aral in Uzbekistan. It`s just not easy. We are happy that we brought it to the point where it stopped shrinking at least. Entire humanity needs to pray for Aral`s recovery.

Well the reason of the shrinking was that the waters of Syrdariya and Amudariya rivers had been used for growing the cotton. we can't also say "was", because Uzbekistan is still doing it. and it's a pity that Uzdek government doesn't cooperate in restoring the lake... Amudaria river is still not reaching the Aral sea...

Funny how they can pipe oil and gas across entire continents, but they can't find the money to pump water from the open seas to the Aral Sea. That part of the world is criss-crossed with oil and gas pipelines, would it not have been possible to lay water pipes parallel to the oil pipes at the same time?
