kids born in 90 and 2000 missed those amazing games, games these days focusing only on graphics and losing the enjoyment of playing these, i showed this game to my nephew, he just shout at me and said, this game sucks i want to play on my Wii....lol it pained my heart, cus i spend days and night playing this game until i finished it...i enjoyed it at that time when i was a kid and enjoy it as a father now ;")
My friend bought every DKC on wii and my other friend downloaded them on emulator. Well i got my old Snes out.. Nothing as good as playing on the original machine :>
Wish they gave The boss More hit points, that way things would get a lot harder and move way more faster making it more of a proper challenge for those who were worthy to get to him ;)

Come 15 years later when I come across my collection, I remember the good times I had and booted it up. It instantly hit me that the yellow flags were the answer. I got the last coin and found that ending. It wasn't as great as this ones, but my inner child cried.
i remember when i was five and my brother 13 we wanted every donkey kong country we were begging mom and dad to buy them but dad said always:lets make a deal if you can beat the game to 100% we get donkeykon country 2 and three if we got 100% on dkcountry 2 so after 4 weeks we have them all dad was so sad he had to pay us for the games

K. Rool got several gun explosions in the face, got punched and fell from his airship which was floating over the top of the island, he got EATEN BY SHARKS, then he clogged the power core of the island itself which caused a MASSIVE EXPLOSION that made the island SINK, and immediatly after that he got away laughing.
@imapikaaa That is when you defeat him for the first time. This battle takes place afterward. Notice how K.Rool is soaking wet and covered with algae when he enters.
Yeah, I still haven't gotten to this boss, and I'm not sure when I will. But dude...this guy's badass. Although it would've been more badass if the battle would have been irritatingly long at this sort of difficulty state. =/
What do those purple puffs do to you if they hit? Just make you lose a monkey? Or do they have some effect? I don't remember...
@Dragonsphinx the purple smoke could reverse the direction controls, blue froze your character, and if i remember correctly i think red just made you run straight into K. Rool
You have to collect all 75 bonus coins from the bonus barrels through various levels. Use 15 at each Klubb spot in worlds 2 - 6, each one has a secret level you need to complete (so, 5 secret levels).
You also need to collect all the DK coins. There are 34 levels, so you need to collect 34. Also, there's one in each of the secret levels. So that's 39, and once you beat K. Rool for a 2nd time, that's #40, and you've truly beaten the game.
What's great is these fights aren't really HARD as in think fast or you lose style, they are hard because they go on for a long time considering you only have 2 hits.
the pinnacle of side scrolling days, i never understood why there was this need to go 3d. There is certainly a necessity for 3d games and many were awesome, but why abandon the side scrolling platform altogether? I think Nintendo is realizing this error and remaking stuff for the Wii, but they have a lot of catching up to do.
@MrTyronePimp man its just the changing of the times :( I honestly miss the 90's and the forgotten days of the super nintendo. those were the days when you would have to blow on the cartridge and only you knew how to blow it just right to make it work lol.

@Axel181 That's when games were golden, when you couldn't look up where crap was. I learned my encyclopedic knowledge of this game the good old fashioned way, but finding everything! I have memorized every Kremkoin and Big DK (my name for the DK Coins) location in the game. The last bonus room at the end of Rambi Rumble in Krazy Kremland, though, sometimes escapes me, though. :/
@Axel181 i also did this.. after 7 years of torture and wiped cartridges i finally beat the whole game 100% and what a challenge that is! :) still works and got it somewhere, may have to be done again ;-)
I can't describe to gamers today the level of excitement I felt when I finally did this after 6 months of relentless gaming. I finally beat Animal Antics which had been plaguing me for weeks and to my surprise uncovered one of the hardest boss fights of all time. Making to the barrel at the end took A LOT of attempts. Games today don't challenge you not on the level this does.
@cangri1788 naw you just gotta be fast. I used to be able to do this flawlessly. It is much harder with Diddy but he was my playa back then I could beat every level with him without taking a hit.
I remember doing this fight as a kid. What makes it so great is that you only need that one shot to beat it but getting that one shot isn't easy. Gotta dodge all those spiked balls and purple blobs first. Amazing!
Man He has such a good final boss in this game. Too bad he did not have a much harder version in his last game. That would of been cool. Hopefully K rool Will be A boss in A Dk Game soon.

but i agree, this very last fight could have been harder. even if it only required repeating to throw the bullet some more times, or included the first steps of the "original fight".
People who say this boss is impossible without Dixie are wrong. It's hard, but not impossible. It just requires impeccable timing on some of the jumps.
@henryhenriquez No it's possible. Instead of using Dixie's hair to fly down, take Dixie on your back and throw her into the air while K.Rool is firing at you. This way, you will manage to stay in air longer than usual and that by using Didie not Dixie.

I still play most of them, usually ones that I either haven't played before or haven't beat. Super Nintendo had SO many classics as well. After those consoles, I think gaming started to lose some of it's luster.
@Kanedrunk2500 I agree with you, two of my friends are great at shooters and the other 2 are good at fighting games. They all lost many many times and gave up after so many continues, we were playing Donkey Kong Country the first part. I was the only one who passed the whole game. I love old school games because they were the best as well as more difficult.

@Dragonsphinx The purple puffs make you move in the opposite intended direction, so if you get hit by one: left=right and right=left.

You have to collect all 75 bonus coins from the bonus barrels through various levels. Use 15 at each Klubb spot in worlds 2 - 6, each one has a secret level you need to complete (so, 5 secret levels).

Even by today's standards, the SNES's graphics still hold up as being incredible. 16-bit graphics have a charm to it that will never be matched.

i guess it was too easy compared to the first final boss fight.
then again king k rool was already a pretty hard boss - harder then most other bosses from different games (i thought this guy would never die)
but i agree, this very last fight could have been harder. even if it only required repeating to throw the bullet some more times, or included the first steps of the "original fight".

@henryhenriquez No it's possible. Instead of using Dixie's hair to fly down, take Dixie on your back and throw her into the air while K.Rool is firing at you. This way, you will manage to stay in air longer than usual and that by using Didie not Dixie.

I still play most of them, usually ones that I either haven't played before or haven't beat. Super Nintendo had SO many classics as well. After those consoles, I think gaming started to lose some of it's luster.

They all lost many many times and gave up after so many continues, we were playing Donkey Kong Country the first part. I was the only one who passed the whole game. I love old school games because they were the best as well as more difficult.

The reason why the 2nd in lost world goes down in 1, is because he was already defeated and weak from before.
Plus dodging that combination of shots is in essence a boss fight in itself, it takes many many tries to memorize how to dodge them all ;P
1 hit or not, you will be frustrated with the lost world boss, I guarentee it
