I know Expert Village is wrong about nearly everything, so if anybody could PM me the real care of saltwater hermit crabs, I would be more than grateful. ;)
@19allden19 it's pretty hard to kill them. You could probably leave them out of water for a day and they would survive. As they said below, they need shells to change out as they get bigger
thanks for this! usually expert village dosnt know a thing about what they are doing, but this is actually helpful! i have land hermit crabs and i wanted marine ones too, but now i know i wont get them because i only wanted hermit crabs, not fish.
was that a cone or olive snail at 31, or maybe something else.
are any hermit crabs truly reef safe?
also, would you recomend a hermit crab as a cleaner. i have always been under the impression that they were very messy eaters, and that most of what they did weas break the waste the food down a to a size that is easier to slip into your live sand, filling it with detritus?
Nope. They do not exist. However, there are fiddler crabs and red-claw crabs that should be kept in slightly salty (brackish) setups. There are also colorful crayfish and lobsters that you can look into. Also, there are about 6 different species of small, often coloful and/or patterned shrimp you can purchase. These are good scavengers in a peaceful tank, and prefer live plants to live in.
in 1964 13 year old Elisa Johnson was raped and murdered in North Carolina, her body was found with multiple stab wounds, and now that you've read this, every night she will come to your house and hang from your closet with glowing red eyes, the only way to stop this is to post this to 10 other videos. SORRY I DIDNT WANT HER IN MY ROOM :S makr as spam.. tbh i just dont want her there...

Hi, I live in a tropical island..
One day, I found a BIG one (the size of my palm) walking in my yard, it was in a snail shell..
Weird enough it didn't die after so many days on land since I live a bit far from the sea (about 20 mins route)....
Well, I caught it and released it in the ocean..

You might want to change your title to "How to take care of a Marine hermit Crab". Semper Fi!
