  • OK, WHICH NORDIC COUNTRY IS BEST FOR A WHITE MAN TO GO LOOKING FOR A PRETTY , BLONDE HAIRED , BLUE EYED WIFE? NORWAY, SWEDEN, DENMARK, ICELAND?

  • @tomcat624u HA. for some reason i think Sweden would have the best selection just because of math :P you have only 317, 000 people in Iceland... 153 000 if half are women... and then how many in your age range?

NORWAY - almost 5 million ppl

    SWEDEN - 9.3 million ppl ***

    DENMARK - 5.5 million ppl

try Sweden if you are really picky! good luck!

BUT, I HAVE TO MAKE MYSELF ATTRACTIVE TO THEM AS WELL. SO I NEED TO START GETTING MYSELF READY FOR ROMANCE HAHAHA I AM PICKY, BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO WAIT !

  • @tomcat624u also, i think Iceland has some strict rules about someone moving there permanently... I am not sure the details, but you may need to take your Icelandic wife with you instead of moving to Iceland... :| just a thought!

  • @davezak WELL, IF I MARRY AN ICELANDIC WOMAN, THROUGH HER I MIGHT BECOME A CITIZEN OF ICELAND, HEHE CHECK INTO IT!

THEY LOVE DRAMA AND CAUSEING PROBLEMS FOR A MAN. THEY JUST WANT TO USE MEN. THE SO CALLED COURTS ARE ON THEIR SIDE IF THEY DECIDE THEY WANT TO DIVORCE A MAN, THEN THEY TAKE A MANS KIDS AWAY AND MAKE THE MAN HAVE TO PAY, ALL THE WHILE SHE MOVES HER BOY FRIENDS IN THE HOME WITH THE KIDS AND STRANGERS HAVE MORE ACCESS TO THE MANS KIDS THAN THERE DA

  • @tomcat624u SORRY DAVE, I DIDN'T MEAN THAT HAHAHA

  • @tomcat624u now now...

  • @tomcat624u no we don't have many niggers

  • @audveltadmuna IN THAT CASE, I MAY START MAKING PLANS TO COME VISIT ICELAND. BUT MY PRIMARY REASON FOR COMING, IS TO FIND A PRETTY NORDIC WIFE AND MAYBE BRING HER BACK TO THE STATES, OR WE COULD LIVE IN ICELAND PARTTIME AND THE US PART TIME HAHAHA . THANKS FOR THE REPLY

  • May I ask - did you rent a car at any point ???????? - I'm told you can only take rented cars on limited roads.

  • @cavejourney you can rent cars for everywhere - BUT you will need to rent a 4 wheel drive for many of the roads... so normal cars can only go on the main road... ALSO - crazy expensive! when we were there - is was over $200 a day for the cheapest car... maybe meet some people and split the cost. - you can take a small car to wicked places and walk... so not a bad thing necessarily.

  • @davezak did you rent a car or did you stay in Reykjavik and take day tours from there? What would you recommend about seeing the north of the country? Did you try buses to get to other parts of the country - I'm getting really mixed reports from the books. Thanks.

  • @cavejourney we took tours. car rentals were too expensive we didn't do enough research and were shocked. i WOULD recommend seeing the north. I would also suggest doing research about PUBLIC buses instead of tour buses! you will need to be relaxed and able to go with the flow and camp out spontaneously. can you do that? the drive up north is amazing i hear. hundreds of waterfalls. We stayed only in Reykjavik and took buses out on day trips...

  • Respond to this video... our next trip we will bring tents and less plans! - you will have a blast

  • @davezak thanks for the input. I rented a regular car for a week with no problems. I also hitch hiked once and it is easy and safe with in that culture. It was such a beautiful country I recommend it and also Greenland if you are able.

  • @cavejourney thanks - that's helpful :)

  • @cavejourney I travelled around Iceland for two weeks using the cheapest car I could find and it was fine. I stuck to the ring road but did occasionally venture off the beaten track. This of course was in summer where only the internal roads needing 4x4 vehicles were forbidden. A lot of major sites are never really far away from the ring road. You do have to make a detour to see GullFoss though. Magical country...

  • I'm leaving for Iceland in 5 days. I'm really excited - thank you for this.

  • davezak Came across your video by chance !

Really enjoyed the video it flowed nicely I can say if anyone had asked me to check out Iceland I would say why?

Both of you have changed my mind in 9' 52 "

You are in my eyes The Ambassadors for Iceland

I hope you work with ( Tourism Iceland ) your own show perhaps in the future?? Adventures in Iceland ? Anyways good vibe from you guys soul mates wish you both - Good Health, Good Friends, Long Life ~ Skal !

    Chris

  • @djscotty1111 cool. thanks for the big smile Chris!

  • @davezak I know a girl that is Norwegian /Dutch sent her and another friend your Video Google Vancouver Canada Cheers !

  • @djscotty1111 wicked! hope it plants a seed for them to visit Iceland! - although Vancouver is beautiful too!

  • @davezak Well ~ Hope to see on TV YOUR Travel show with you guys hosting I can envision it already. Getting paid to enjoy traveling , go all over the World ;) ave you been to Vancouver ?

  • Hi! I loved your video, I am going to Iceland in next weak and I would like to know some places that you recommend to visit there. Thanks!

  • @ferchisss100 blue lagoon is a biggy.

if you have cash - rent a car and drive around. bring a tent and sleep anywhere and bathe under hot waterfalls!

there is a good tour of 'the gollden horshoe' - i think that is what it is called - you have 4 stops - a geothermal plant, geyser fields, a crazy watefall and the gap where the NA and european plates are separating. great one day tour. also - look into PUBLIC transit and buses - way cheaper than tourist buses and everyone is so helpful.

  • Respond to this video... OH - make SURE you spend a weekend in Reykjavik going to bars on the main street! and don't sleep all night. the sun will be up the whole time and the streets full until the next day. such a wicked time!

  • Respond to this video... OH and wear strange clothes. My wife and I hated feeling so normal. we felt like losers with brand name clothes and stuff that matches :P express yourself. - and some amazing vegetarian restaurants!

  • Really nice job! It´s a really cool video!

  • Love your video! You guys seem like a really fun couple. Your video is making me really excited to go to Iceland this June. I am from Las Vegas , Nevada but my grandma is 100% Icelandic, so I am going to meet family members this summer. I have a feeling I am going to have the most crazy adventure of my life. Thanks for adding your video.

  • @janisg123 than ks for the super nice comment :) enjoy iceland. you are lucky to have some history from this awesome place. not a mean person in the country!

  • Oheey.

    That's a lot of views.. ^

  • Hi, I´m from Iceland, but currently live in Norway. I loved your video, reminded me of last summer when I travelled the country with my brother and our Swedish and Danish friends.

  • Im from Iceland althouh I live in Sweden. And I must say that your video is extremley beutiful and capture the most of the important and unbealiveble sites. Althouh I missed the one and only (in the world) penus museum :P

I miss the country everyday and someday I will move back.

  • iceland dosent have skunk shark snake monster only trolls XD

  • I really loved your video. I got accepted to study at Háskóli Islands and moved to Iceland last December. I am originally from the US and have not traveled outside of the states before not even to Mexico or Canada. I was really terrified to go and almost didnt get on my plane because I was so scared, but I watched your video and it really gave me the strength to make it here. I love Iceland and think this was the best decision I have ever made in my life. Thank you

  • @zookwick Rebecca and I were so happy to read this message. Thanks for sharing your experience! There is a quote that says 'if something scares you, then it is EXACTLY what you should do!"

Glad you made the jump :) You are writing a good story.

  • Who knows about the status of Iceland and the EU? Also any more info about WikiLeaks having their base in Iceland? very interesting stuff going on.

  • @davezak There have been a few motions to withdraw the application to join the EU but nothing has passed yet.. In my opinion there is a fading chance that the people will agree on membership in a referendum but like you say .. there are exciting times ahead..

If there is one thing you can learn about Icelanders it is that they love to talk about themselves, their culture and their country.. :)

Just out of curiosity.. where are you guys from?

  • @gunnzzo Canada. Near Toronto. We are planning on visiting iceland again. Have you heard recent news about wikileaks and iceland?

  • I mean, it has a barren landscape, , no trees and lunar landscape. It is not something I would die for. What do you think, guys ? Is it a place to see before my soul goes to Paradise ?

  • @eliaviel1 NOOOO! not barren. sure no tree, but the hills and ice and rock and water... Not Lunar. Youtube clips from the documentary 'Heima'.... Iceland is a piece of paradise! it is a great place to do soul searching. Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. and SILENT. Highly recommend :)

  • hey awesome vid!!!

can you give me a guide price on items? for example: beer, hotdog etc? just so i can get a rough gage? this place looks fantastic - i am going for 3 weeks on march 30th!! can't wait :-D

  • @drew2pac - this was over a year ago - hostel (for 2 ppl) $90/night. meals $15-20 each. tea/coffee $3-4. Beer $8-10 dollars (but you can buy tall-can-beer at the grocery stores for cheaper and drink before having an AWESOME time in Reykjavik! - take PUBLIC transit instead of tour buses. do some research on this before and this alone will be a huge savings! less than a 1/10th of the cost. hotdog and a coke around 5 bucks. If you are brave, bring a tent and camp at random! or couchsurf...

  • @davezak thank you for your reply dude. it has been very helpful. i am planning on camping (althought i am not sure what the weather will be like in early april - i am guessing rain!!), but i have a hire car. but thanks for the advice on the public transit.

i am travelling alone, so hope the people are friendly there lol. i need some drinking partners!

  • @drew2pac ha you will have no problem finding drinking partners. everyone will love you. dress strange so you fit in :P i felt too normal for sure.

  • @davezak dress strange? okay that is a bit of interesting advice. i will check out some vids to get an idea of how they dress there. my ex girlfriend changed my wardrobe to skinny fit jeans as she said they looked nice on me - so i feel that is strange enough lol

  • Has Iceland become a favored destination just because of its remote location and because it ignites one's imagination rather than the things to see there ?

It really tempts to visit such a secluded island but I do not think it is more peculiar than other places.

  • @eliaviel1 I think its remoteness makes it attractive for some. For me, the wide variety of geological wonders is the most appealing aspect.

  • @eliaviel1 well you are the first person to say that! everyone i have spoke to has spoke very highly on the surreal landscape.

although i will say, i have been told to be very careful there. I am slightly mixed race, and i have heard there is a serious racism issue there. my friend phil told me (he was there, and mentioned something about people leaving the country because of it), and it is slightly putting me off visiting. so not sure if i am that keen to visit now if i am honest.

  • Two people dislike this?!? Are they mental?!

    I'm coming Iceland...I'm coming!!!!

  • @83missmay yes those 2 were mental :) if you go to Iceland, two things WE will do next time is: 1. take PUBLIC transit! and 2. bring a TENT!

  • Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!!

    Dave

  • Great video - this is a trip I'm considering. You mentioned being able to camp anywhere - did you stick to designated camping areas, or can you literally camp anywhere you like?

    Dave

  • @TrentDonovan we stayed in hostels, but during our trip, we met some people who were in Iceland with tents. they took public transit and just hiked through random places until they found some spot to camp. they showed us pictures of their tent set up by a waterfall and a river that was hot... it was breathtaking and very isolated. I am sure someone owned the land but was really out in the middle of nowhere... SO this is what we want to do next time we go... also much cheaper and beautiful!

  • omg it looks amazing. i would love to go, but looks like it is not going to because if the tea is $3 I can't imagine the flight tickets or anything else.

    thanks so much for sharing.

  • @HiLaLsir It is worth saving for one day!

It was VERY expensive, but we did learn lots about how to go to iceland for cheap...

two main things would be: 1. bring a tent!!!! you can camp any where prety much... buy smoking hot waterfalls :) 2. take PUBLIC transit instead of the tourist buses...

  • @HiLaLsir check out the iceland airline website. We went Iceand before the eruption and deal from Boston, USA, for couple, 7 days, air ticket, hotel, breakfast, 2 city tours for $1300 USD.

Meal is not too expensive - Lunch is cold cut sandwich ($4USD)

Dinner is more expensive especially Icelandic meal - Horse meat, Wheel steak, etc. Visit the visitor center at the airport to get coupon book. 20 - 30% discount. Also, no tiping necessary.

  • Loved this video, very well done.

  • Great vid I am off to Iceland next year and thought I would look at youtube for a look at what it will be like LOOKS GREAT can't wait

  • lov this vidio i am from iceland and i am proud of you guys foru that vidio!!! and i am proud of being icelandic :)

  • A Masterpiece By Accident .. definitely the BEST slogan I've ever heard about Iceland.. :)

But just to clarify, Iceland is not a part of the EU .. yet.. :)

  • @gunnzzo really!? i though it was for sure! we were there when there was some vote. lots of opinions in the streets... and a cool protest going on. it felt historic... id love to hear more about the status of iceland and the EU... where is it at. how do the people feel?

  • @davezak No, they just passed a legislature to apply for fyll membership.. the negotiations are now underway. However a national census showed that around 60% of the population are against membership.

The main issues are control over the country's natural resources like geothermal energy (and other renewable energy resources) and our beloved fishing grounds. The protest that you witnessed was over the legislation to apply for membership..

  • @gunnzzo thanks for the info i thought for sure they already joined! That is great news. All of the people we talked to in Iceland were against joining the EU because of control of natural resources, like you said. Also I am very excited about wiki-leaks wanting to have headquarters in Iceland and creating an offshore journalism centre. So exciting. I do hope Iceland stays free and Wikileaks can be safe there. Thanks Gunnzoo. Do you know more about the status of Iceland and the EU?

  • hahahah wow thats funny! i thought i recognized you guys... i'm the one saying hafnarfjörður, hope you liked iceland :D

  • @anituzz ha yay :) we had so much fun their. it was expensive.. but we will be back! thanks for having us :)

  • we will be back, and we tell many other Canadians that they have to visit your country :) thanks for having us!

  • @davezak Did you by any chance got any information of how probable is for non-europeans to immigrate to Iceland? I mean, since it's part of the European Union, I guess the laws should be sort of similar to other european countries... is it so?

  • @thesaintoz I'm not to sure.

I have run into a couple people from Canada who look for 'Nanny' jobs in iceland. There are some richer people there. One girl from BC took a 1 year job staying at someone's home in Iceland as her way to get into the country. Not too sure on rules but I think they would be pleased to have you especially if you had business that could help the economy. Let us know if you figure this out.

  • absolutely amazing video!! I'm Icelandic and I'm so proud of my country and very happy that you had a good experience here. I hope you'll visit many times.

  • so sweet

  • I'm glad you like my country :) i love it too!! well just wanted to say that I know like at LEAST 3 people in this video!!! :) well hope u´ll all come back! and dont be afraid of the volcano!! its like high up in a glacier and its not gonna hurt anyone! peace

  • @NinuzaJ Hello Ninuza, I'd be very interested on living in your countrie. I just fell in love with your culture exotic landscapes. Do you know if it's very hard for non-europeans to get to live there? I'm 25 yr old, single musician.

  • @thesaintoz yes it is hard to get a visa here for working and living but u can come and live here for 3 months in a 6months period :) so once u been here and gotten to know some people you can figure out how to get a visa ;)

  • So i'm leaving in a few days to see this other planet. When you're on a whim you don't need rollercoasters

  • What is it about Iceland that makes everyone want to go back? There isn't as much to do as there is in a lot of other places, but it's still absolutely amazing. I went there for a day almost 7 years ago, and have not been able to get it out of my head since. Only 2 more months until I'm back again!

    I loved your video

  • @vlahvlahvlah i think it has something to do with STOPPING and noticing beauty and people. It is a true holiday... not full of activities, but one where you have to stand still and feel small. glad you are going back. we will be back as well. next time, we are bringing a tent and only taking public transit, not tours. have fun :)

  • Great video clip of Iceland. Thanks for sharing! Very interesting -- I'm an Asian and have been to some parts of Europe but have never been to Iceland. Farthest Ive been in is Norway. After viewing a vid on the volcano eruption here on YT I chanced upon yr footage. Glad I did. Tnks! Hope to visit Iceland soon.

  • @carmenph yes you should visit if you are ever coming to america, there are good 'stop over' deals where you can be in iceland few a few days at a good cost. i think you will be happy to go.

  • @davezak yes, and visit America, too, when I have the chance. Tnks, davezak. Keep travelling and sharing yr wonderful vids.

  • Amazing footage...Im heading to iceland in april as well. cant wait!!!

  • Wow. Just..wow. I'm going to Iceland for the first time in April and am looking forward to it soo much.

  • post a video when you get back and let us know! you should use PUBLIC transit.. not tour buses. so much cheaper and you will meet locals. all nicer than nice. AND bring a tent if you are adventurous. next time we will do both of those.

    great :)

  • Thank you. I'm going on the Hidden Worlds(elves, that sort of thing) tour in Hafnarfjordur(and other stuff) and I'll definitely be posting some videos of my trip with the subtitle of, "How to be a vegetarian in Iceland and not die."

  • Ha awesome. can't wait. REBECCA is a vegetarian' Living together makes me mostly one too. Some AMAZING vegetarian restaurants in iceland! Really. I'll ask Rebecca the name of the one vegan place we love so much in Reykjavik. Rebecca remember? You will survive no problem. BUT their meat and eggs are freerange and really heathy... look into it maybe :S ?

  • I just wanted to say congratulations, this footage is amazing and I can't wait to go there one day, it's number one on my list even if it means long long flights from Tasmania (Australia) and lot's of money, when I am defiantly going it will be good to get tips from everyone here please! - Hannah (Major Bjork and anything Icelandic lover)

  • Hi :)

If we were to go again (WHEN we go again) we will bring sleeping bags and tents and really explore. some amazing off the tourist maps destinations if you talk with locals. also, take PUBLIC transit instead of tour buses or car rentals to save a fortune. make sure you are in Reykjavik on the weekend to party ALL night! such lovely people.

  • looks like an amazing journey you had... iceland is definitely on my list of places to visit...but your video made me bump it higher up the roster!!! glad you had such an amazing experience! how long were you there may i sak?

  • i meant ask...lol

  • We were there for 10 days! It was a bit expensive and 10 days even felt tight on our budget. You should definitely check it out. Next time we go, we will take PUBLIC transit and a tent! met people doing that. bathe under hot waterfalls. GO! :)

  • Hi I am an Icelandic economic refugee living in Denmark, but am currently in Toronto. And this just made my day, I was feeling so homesick and you captured the true spirit of my home, exactly what I was longing for. Thank you!

  • awesome :) thank YOU!

  • Thanks for sharing, amazing video, just amazing

  • Seems like you had good time in Iceland ;)

    Sigfus

    Icelander living in Belgium

  • WOW! you video is amazing. I'm actually going to Iceland in Late November. I'm super excited! This video got me really stoked about the visit. Thanks!

  • Hope you get to visit the island in summertime. It is cold and dark in November, still hope you had a good journey.

  • Hey Dave

    You make some awesome videos.!!

Really like this one.Wish i could go there.

Hope you can do some more about the summits

  • i went to iceland in may and your trip reminds me of mine so much!! we definitely both visited because of "heima" :) your video is incredible, it really shows the beauty of the country and the culture of reykjavik... i'm speechless, i just love this little amazing country and want to go back. i made a documentary too if you want to check it out, it's not as in-depth but we used some of the same sigur ros songs :)!!

  • Hello there my wonderful friends! I love you both and i love your movie. I am blown away with your trip, those are things you cant see anywhere else in the world! What an amazing glimpse of the country!! I want to go there!!

    xo Lili

  • Sweet! I make a 2 second appearance in this video, explaining (poorly) my views on the EU.

Dave and Rebecca, you guys are good people. Hit me up next time you are in town and the drinks will be on me.

  • ha awesome.. ya all that footage was way too dark. had to scrap tons of good conversations... too bad really.

awesome time there glad we crossed paths.

  • Gunnar! We had SUCH a good time in Reykjavik with you guys that night... I mean morning! Thank you for the offer, and yes we will be back! If you do make the trip to Canada one day, swing by Toronto and we'd be glad to show you around our neck of the woods :)
