@patriciaschannel it was sold to me as a female but as far as I know only males sing. So my best guess it that it's a male.

Glorfindel müsste ein Harzer Roller sein - ebenso wie mein Moritz.Es sind schon tolle Sänger!Man hat viel Freude mit und an diesen "Spatzen" besonders wenn man sie frei fliegen lassen kann.. @ahmed198999... Yes, my aunt used to raise them. The biggest tell-tale sign was the beak barely opening & the really nice rolling sound of their song.

my canary used to sing non stop from morning till i switched off the light at night,beautiful,beautiful whistle,for 3yrs,and suddenly he stopped,he just sings occasionally now,does anyone know why that is?

Listening to other birds can stimulate song, but the lights are the key. Interuptions in lighting are why many of them die young with no sign of disease.
