TO EVERYONE TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE LYRICS...the stuff that he says in all the songs mean nothing its just sounds that go with the music the name of the songs is icelandic but there are no real lyrics the singer says it in an interview i saw...its so when u hear the music what ever ur thinking about is what the song is about...and being a born again christian the title "hay satan" is very questionable to me i do wonder why they named it that i hope there not satanic:(

@GabesIpodVideos Actually, not all of their songs are sung in Hopelandic (their made-up language called Vonlenska in Icelandic). About just as many are in Icelandic.

And regarding the title of this particular song, "Heysátan" is Icelandic for "The Haystack" so no, they are not Satanic.

Hey, in my opinion I actually think the vid is pretty creative. You have to admit, it's definately much better than when people just put up a random picture for the whole song while it plays. I think Sigur Ros' music is so beautiful, I love almost every song I've heard so far. Good job on the video though, I enjoyed it. However, if you plan on creating more vids, maybe try to include a story with the song to keep the viewers interested in both watching and listening to the video more.

HAHA, me, too. Nice thing is, Icelandic is one of the most closely related languages to english. Both originated from northern Germany about 1600 years ago. The language has hardly changed since the vikings first settled there, so it's ridiculously similar to old English (Saxon).

i thought about that too but it seems likely that 'fuck' isnt a very close translation of the icelandic word they acctually use. if you look at the translation, two 'fuck's are completely different icelandic words. it could be that the icelandic words they used have different connotations than 'fuck' has in english, so its not so awkward.

absolutely. english and icelandic are very very different languages. fuck is such a unique word in english that it couldn't possibly have the same connotation and meaning in icelandic. in this song i think it is safe to say that "fuck" is the translation of a word that implies great frustration.

"Andskotinn" literally means "the devil", which would used in situations where people use "God damnit!" in English.

"Fuck" isnt really appropriate in the english lyrics.

As far as the saturation goes, its to imply a much more dreamy state than real. In other words, for her, that is how she sees the world (a very bright colorful place). And when she steps into the development, she is brought into the real world. That is why that segment is so dark and dingy.

First off, back up your opinions on why the colors are "shitty". Second use a thesaurus and not make yourself look like a complete ignorant fool by using such slang.

Second, the focus in the shots switch from the girl to nature symbolizing the equality of the two. So, no, the subject does not always have to be in focus.

Third, Look at dogma film making. They rarely use steadicam (or "professional" techniques) but still fantastic films. You try and do better with no budget and 3 hours.

The power of the internet...this is probably some 15 year old who is jealous because the music video he made with his dad's mini DV camcorder and Pinnacle studio sucks and is completely blown out of the water by this video.

The colors, buddy, have been color corrected with an exaggerated white balance to give it a dreamy look - perfect for Sigur Ros. And the out of focus shots are done so intentionally, as the above comment states.
