  • BTW the name of the book is Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Elliot... Read it, I challenge you.

  • I think it is important to read the love story of Jim and Elizabeth Elliot to truly understand this message. AWESOME... TWILA!!!!

  • Meh nothing wrong with dressing modest, but dressing like you're wearing a tent is a whole other matter. It says for women to cover our heads in the Bible too. So should she do that?

  • @creolelady89 Are you in remembrance that this is video from 24 years back? People dress so differently then.

  • @Funshine999 yes I noted that. I was responding to the top comments which where just 2 years ago. Did you note them?

  • @razarific No, what I said, that everyone understood but you, is that you're playing the hypocrite. People reap what they sow. But it wasn't enough for you to allow God's justice to cause him to reap; you felt *compelled* to CALL UPON HIM A CURSE YOURSELF.

... thus ensuring that you will now reap the same judgment you spoke against him.

    Not smart.

  • @razarific Wow... do you ever need to look in the mirror. The judgment from you is so obvious that everyone but you sees it.

  • One of the top three Christian songwriters of the past thirty years. Easily. So amazingly gifted. Thank you, Lord, for Twila Paris.

  • WOW , what a voice, Truly "VOX DEI", God Blessed her with a heavenly voice .

and MAN, she's hot ! too bad she's married .

  • Comment removed

  • Twila is what Amy Grant would be if she had any integrity, Twila still on her first husband

  • the Missionary that wrote those word was found murdered in the mission field, those words were found in his journal, Jim Eliot was murdered on the mission field

  • the Missionary that wrote those word was found murdered in the mission field, those words were found in his journal

  • Why are people so focused on how she is dressed instead of what she is singing about?

  • @dellclown Because Christian men appreciate the very rare Christian woman who doesn't dress like she enjoys being lusted after as much as the pagan women. It's really strange that needs to be explained to you.

  • Old times... forever!

  • People like her, Bobby Michaels, Steve Green were people given exceptional singing voices, displayed true godliness of life and in their character and showed it in their singing. Wish there were more of such in the 2010s

  • @axlcrush There are, but their egos don't drive them and therefore, they don't have the various agents promoting those egos.

I knew a man who sang in church and I always marveled at how terrific his voice was and suggested that he make an album. His response made it clear that God would have to be behind it or he wasn't interested.

The brother later fell and I think it was in part because the leadership of our church demanded so much of his time that it robbed his time with God.

  • @ GodNControl. Haven't heard this song since the last Twila Paris concert in 1990. This song is about Jim Elliot and his ministry of the Auca Indians. These people killed him and vandalized his plane, but his wife still prayed for his murderers that they would come to Christ. They did. Praise Jesus!

  • I have never heard this one before. Its good. I love her piano music best. But all her music is amazing!

  • now that's how a woman of God SHOULD dress! amen! all you focus on is the music.

  • Yes, yes and yes I agree. Women should dress modestly and not bring undue attention to themselves.

  • @fixinggrace and how do you define "modest"? in some parts of the world modest means being covered head to toe with your face covered. Worry about the condition of your heart more than what the other person is wearing - that is between them and God and your heart should remain pure no matter what other people are doing.

  • @joyacheri7 You don't even know me from Adam and you choose to criticize the condition of my heart (would you say this to my face, in person? be honest). I'll try and afford you the courtesy you denied me nonethess.

First of all, I don't set the standards, that's God's job. However, this isn't an excuse to be politically correct either. Read Romans 12:1; Ephesians 4:17-19; I Peter 3:1-5; 1 Peter 4:3, and 1 Timothy 2: 9-10. Good day.

  • @fixinggrace I would definitely say this to your face - not sure what you see as so terrible about what I said. And I wasn't judging your heart only encouraging you to worry about that instead of what women are wearing!! God commands women to dress modestly but what does that look like in today's society? Ultimately we don't dress the same way people did 2000 years ago - Twila Paris would probably be considered immodest by those standards!

  • @joyacheri7 I've been a Christian for 31 years and this doesn't mean that I'm not immune to sinning either (no one is). The Bible (if you recognize it, and no offense intended if you don't) also warns about causing others to sin. See Luke 17: 1-4, Galatians 6:2, Romans 15:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:14, 1 Corinthians 8: 4-13, Romans 14:14-21. Immodest dress is only one way to do that.

  • @fixinggrace I don't believe in legalism but I don't think modesty is legalism. I've been in churches where 90% of female youth looked like whores and an adult woman COUNSELOR wore dresses two sizes too small and I marveled at the stupidity of her husband and the pastor. The assistant pastor came to the video crew one day and told them to avoid the worship leader! -- her dress was so short.

I never heard a msg. on "Love not the world" in that church.

Remember, Bobby? Are you listening, Randy?

  • @BludBaut The assistant pastor eventually left and started his own church. Whether the refusal to teach modesty was related to his leaving I don't know.

The pastor was a sweet and swell guy and an humble man. The youth pastor and his wife taught on moral purity but it simply didn't translate into how their girls dressed.

  • @BludBaut Makes sense to me.

  • @fixinggrace My point is that you can't be legalistic on this point realistically, instead you have to understand the "why." The reality is that you can dress as modestly as Twila Paris and have a seductive attitude that is far worse than showing a bit of skin (like knees and ankles) and having a pure heart for the Lord! The point is not to seek inappropriate attention deliberately - that's what Christian women are called to do.

  • @joyacheri7 Now that you explained this, I get your point. Let's make one thing clear though. I am not legalistic or worry about what women wear simply because I make a comment that they should dress modestly (or even because I don't explain myself in my original comment, there simply isn't enough room for an essay on youtube). As for being seductive, perception is reality for most folks and this is why modesty is important. Ideally, this would not be the case.

  • @joyacheri7 People are fallen and have a sin nature. This wasn't the case with Adam and Eve, so no clothes were necessary. When they decided to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (to be like God), they realized that they were naked and sewed together fig leaves. Without this fallen nature (and yes, I realize cultural differences, but this is a different story) there would be no need for clothes.

  • @joyacheri7 "Worry about the condition of your heart more than what the other person is wearing - that is between them and God and your heart should remain pure no matter what other people are doing." You're deceived. You're so willingly deceived, you wouldn't listen in the short space that's allowed. There's too little space to address all the reasons you're wrong.

That tells me you're an immodest woman and you therefore admonish men to "remain pure."

Quit lying and tell yourself the truth.

  • Does anyone know if this concert is available in its entirety anywhere?

    I love Twila's music! :)

  • WOW! Wicked awesome performance!!!! WTG Twila :)

  • That's a gem of a classic. Simple, heartfelt, and powerful.

    I miss the 80's...

  • I remember attending this concert tour in Cincinnati, Feb. 24, 1989. It was a great concert, and a great end of a great week; just 4 days earlier, we saw Amy Grant's Lead Me On/Michael W. Smith's Eye to Eye tour in Dayton. Twila Paris is such an inspiring singer/songwriter!

  • This song has encouraged me time and time again. Telling the world about Jesus is an awesome responsibility He gives us.

  • This is one of Twila's many wonderfully amazing songs. She is truly a Godly Lady and a true follower of our Lord Jesus Christ and the songs that the Lord writes on her heart to sing are a true and wonderful testament to the Love of Jesus.

  • I saw Twila in concert in the fall of 1987. I really enjoy her music, and I really appreciate her witness.

  • This is great. Twila Paris from the earlier days. And "He Is No Fool" is an AMAZING song. I would love to have the entire concert for myself. Thanks for posting this GodNControl.

  • Yeah, too bad it didn't make her "Greatest Hits" album. I wonder if it made the cut for Heart That Knows You...
