The fact is that Jews were just as involved in the oppression of black people as the other European people. The NAACP was a mostly Jewish run and founded organization that for decades refused to elect a black president. The NAACP also hated Garvey for his successful UNIA.

We cannot and should not comment on what both men could have been in different circumstances, the point is, they were who they were and whilst both were inspirational and articulated thinkers, one used his ability to destroy and redesign power for his own agenda, leading to the manipulation and utilisation of what he felt were his followers, not equals.
Superiority was his personal objective, which although was built on observations of his own, these observations could not be called rational within a context of general human equality. Both used propaganda and a sense of grandeur to elevate their beliefs and idealisms and both connected to their followers in such a way that empowered them beyond what they thought could be possible.
He felt that, as has been discussed, the way to secure notoriety and genuine recognition would be to create a sustainable and independent, civilised and industrial unity within the black community that would stand equal to the growth of civilisation within the western world. Hitler, however, was not concerned with equality as the objective.

I think to compare Hitler with Garvey in a literal sense is naive but it must and should be pointed out that there are dangers when faced with ideology that centres around forging a nation on race. The big difference is that the people that complained in that area and time period of the world were not treated as second class citizens. They were the majority of their country and were merely looking for a scapegoat in harsh economic times. For the first decades of the “trade” Europeans just went to Africa and raided villages. The choice for African kings was to obey the Europeans and sell slaves or be killed. This is what happened to kings like Ansa, Afonso, and Adandozan. Many African rulers fought against the trade.

Either ships went empty to pick up slaves, meaning there was no crew to capture the slaves...or the ships went loaded with people who could capture the slaves. If that were true, then how could they have come back once the ships were packed with slaves? I know many people don't want to believe that blacks sold other blacks into slavery, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. They made money too
@SuckOnTruth That’s why they made the switch to buying the slaves. Raids were just too costly. John Hawkins was one of the most well-known slave raiders and he was actually knighted by the queen for how much wealth he produced by slave raiding. Some Africans did sell slaves, but like I said it was more complicated than that. And in most cases they had no choice but to give into European demands. Remember who had the guns in this situation.

As I said before, Garvey’s pan-Africanism was in response to the global oppression of the black race. @infox1000 Also, keep in mind...this is the natural "progression" of any progressive govt. In order to fund social programs, they must continue to gather resources so the tax base can be built up. Funding for Germany's national health care system could not have been paid for without Germany's expansion into Africa. They didn't have the natural resources themselves to create products to sell, so they had to take the resources from Africa to create revenue to pay for social programs.

The fact is that Jews were just as involved in the oppression of black people as the other European people. Garvey's importance transcend any standard we have today. His work is the only work of a non "statesmen" that dealt with (a)material needs of African people. He built corporations and provide the courage for the creation of a real black liberation theology, Ethiopianism which was real because of our experience with white supremacy and our roots in Africa (Ethiopia).Thanks for sharing.

@infox1000 No, Hitler's goal was to unite the Germanic people of Europe. By doing so, he ended up killing the ones he thought stood in his way. Malcolm X's goal was mostly the same. He wanted his people united and like Hitler, was against interracial breeding, saying it thinned out the black race. That's not too much different from Hitler's beliefs. The goals of Garvey and Hitler were alike, but how they achieved the end results were different.

Garvey didn’t do that and Malcolm didn’t even lead his own movement until months before he died.

For the first decades of the “trade” Europeans just went to Africa and raided villages. The choice for African kings was to obey the Europeans and sell slaves or be killed. This is what happened to kings like Ansa, Afonso, and Adandozan. Many African rulers fought against the trade.

Either ships went empty to pick up slaves, meaning there was no crew to capture the slaves...or the ships went loaded with people who could capture the slaves. If that were true, then how could they have come back once the ships were packed with slaves? I know many people don't want to believe that blacks sold other blacks into slavery, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. They made money too

John Hawkins was one of the most well-known slave raiders and he was actually knighted by the queen for how much wealth he produced by slave raiding. Some Africans did sell slaves, but like I said it was more complicated than that. And in most cases they had no choice but to give into European demands. Remember who had the guns in this situation.

As I said before, Garvey’s pan-Africanism was in response to the global oppression of the black race. Also, Garvey never wanted to found a nation based on skin color. What Garvey wanted was a free and liberated Africa for all people of African descent. Not once did Garvey plan to remove white people from Africa on the grounds of them being white.

@infox1000 Also, keep in mind...this is the natural "progression" of any progressive govt. In order to fund social programs, they must continue to gather resources so the tax base can be built up. Funding for Germany's national health care system could not have been paid for without Germany's expansion into Africa. They didn't have the natural resources themselves to create products to sell, so they had to take the resources from Africa to create revenue to pay for social programs.

Garvey traveled around the world and noticed that black people everywhere were being treated like garbage so he wanted to create a program that would ensure that we would have a country where we would have our own government and rights. He believed white people couldn't be trusted because they still needed us to work for them. Their was no real racism but distrust.
