You'll Fustrate yourself beyond belief with this shit software... it is so complicated and stupid...BUY CorelDraw Graphic Suite. Its easy to use and everything it in front of you as plain as day....and it "JUST WORKS".... not like adobe... everything is buried... nothing is just click and drag like Corel... You have to memorize 1,000,000,000,000,000 shortcut in adobe to use it properly ..... I may leave my job cuz they want to switch from corel to adobe...what dumbasses!!!

its only for windows... almost every designer works with a mac, adobe is really good, you just need to know how to work with it, so i don't think adobe is shit , cause tbh i think its the most bought program by designers in the world

Ugh! I feel like Charlie Brown when he kicks the football. I can adjust the column on the outside of the text frame but I cannot adjust them in gutter(s) shown in the demonstration. Can anyone please help me solve this problem? I have a Tuesday deadline to meet 11/14/2011!!!

@damaged2 InDesign is still a bit limited as far as the html coding that Dreamweaver can do but the new CS5 is now “talking” to flash which is AMAZING!!! Also really helpful for basic and simple sites that you just have a bit of animation for.

indesign 4 had a number at the bottom left next to the page no. -and with that number you could get the page size to any number you wanted to view-- but now I have 5 and there is no number to change the page zoom size-- WHERE IS IT?

You can add a SWF media to your html file...it should work.

It is referred to the control panel to find the Span column thing, but that does not show up in my CS5 InDesign. How come? And then using the other option for Span columns, it doesn't work there either. Headline stays put in the left column, no response across my three columns at all. What is it you do not tell us here? Any special preferences needed?

Seeing your video here, I tried this Span column thing in my InDesign CS5. Missed, doesn't work at all. So I launched the Adobe Community help and watched another two videos on Span columns. Still it won't work in my InDesign. I placed a text over three colums. The supposed headline refused to respond and make it span over the three columsn, so something is deleted in all the videos I have watched. All three video presenters including you here make it sound so easy and fantastic. Rubbish!

alanbstard4, I teach both programs, have used both since it was pagemaker and quark (and quark was "the iron curtain"- it did not have a pasteboard in the earliest versions! - and have virtually NEVER found Quark to be more user friendly or intuitive - some people are more used to one program than the other, both will get you where you need to land with print documents, and Q8 is easier to use than Q7, but give me the Adobe products any day of the week.

And they will not be integrated because they serve separate purposes and because people already see Photoshop as photo editing they will not purchase it if they need graphic design. They would lose sales if they integrated it. I do agree, however, that Fireworks lacks too much purpose.

It's cool. I like the gap thing and those controls for photos. As cool as interactivity and adding animation, etc is. How can it be used in the real world? Flash isn't supported on the iPad or phone and those are the most likely candidates for rich multimedia ebooks. I REALLY want to do these, but nobody seems to know how! This is a fantastic video. I sometimes feel overwhelmed with all the new tricks. I went from sticking with what I know on the older versions of Indesign but I'm trying to keep up with the technology. Thanks for sharing. I just sent a book off to print using CS4. You can see the difference between CS5 and what I was using on my channel. I hope they fixed the horrible backwards incompatibility issues. Nothing worse than doing a design on one computer, taking it home on a differant higher cs version, saving and then taking it back to the other computer the next day when you can no longer open the newer document on older software.
