  • The Nats should go to Montreal and wear their old Expo jerseys and play a series one a year.

  • I cried that day

  • The last MLB game to be played in Montreal and still the team can't sell out that eyesore.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if someday the Expos came back to Montreal

  • @EMANON92993 I would be because noone will build another stadium like that in montreal....unless it gets the olympics again

  • The Expos should return as a minor league team. That would be pretty cool if cities like Vancouver, Winnipeg, Montreal, and Ottawa got MiLB teams since MLB probably won't expand again

  • BRING BACK THE EXPOS!!!

  • i wish they would bring back the expos...:(

  • I'm even an American and I want the Expos to come back

  • Theres a facebook page called "we want expos back" i would ecourage everyone to join to show that there is a market for the expos return.

  • No if we can just kick Toronto out, we'd have one less half empty Canadian dome.

  • Blame bad management, the lockout or the weak canadian dollar at the time if you want, but for me nothing spelled 'the end' more then when the team moved indoors. No one in mtl wants to spend our limited gorgeous summer evenings indoors...no way...there are dozens of things to do in the summer and heading inside in a/c was not one of them. Looking at the hottest women in N. America walking by from a terrace was #1...always will be. lol

  • Bring back the Expos!!! Sox-Expos interleague play was encroyable.. if they bothered to give the expos a decent team, it would have survived

  • Bad when your teams last game ever wasnt even sold out...

  • i am a red sox fan but igree that expos should return

  • August 12, 1994 the beginning of the end of baseball in Montreal... truly a very sad story of what morale does to people and organizations when an unforeseen unrelated factor such as a work stoppage would ruin a dream season. All that had to be done was that new stadium that was planned.

  • the 1994 world series champions montreal expos

  • i doubt it would have mattered if they won the world series in 1994 because the twins won 2 of them in 1987 and 1991 and they almost got contracted. they just got lucky having a playoff run in 2002 so attendace went up. sadley, the same couldn't have been the same for the expos

  • No offense MLB players don't want to play baseball in Canada. they just don't go hand in hand. And to satisfy u Candiens, u invented hockey. GO BLUES AND CARDINALS!

  • @Beradical23 we invented basketball too, I bet you thought the americans did

  • They will never bring them back the city of Montreal dosen't want another team. They sucked that's one of the major reasons why they we're sold to D.C. so really keep dreaming its not going to happen bro.

  • @ThrLegionOfDoomVids true but money they should have built new stadium.

  • @cubbs357 Yeah that is true but they wern't bring in the money in '04 like they should. But the Nationals ain't shit anyways I just wish the french canadians would ask for them back. I'm canadian and it's sad because they we're a good team before people gave up on them.

  • @ThrLegionOfDoomVids I have Aspergers so I know lots about baseball my favorite

sport.I'm French Canadian one of my Ancestors, last name was Laforte and then it

was changed to Forte and then Fort.I miss the Expos one of my favorite teams.

    GO HABS!!!

  • Expos did suck

  • What would you think could have happened if the expos won the world series in 1994, if there was one?

  • They were the best team in baseball in 1994. I so wish there was not a player's strike to see if they could have won it all.

  • I dont understand why they moved. They had alot of fans and they had a very strong franchise. Plus they were winning alot more games then the nationals were

  • @teambasics get your facts before you say anything dumbass there fanbase sucked opening day attendance was only 14,000 and their stadium hold 40,000 and jeffrey loria (owner) didnt want to broadcast their games thats why montreal doesnt deserve a baseball franchise you know who does FLORIDA MARLINS 2003 1997 CHAMPIONS EXPOS SUCK

  • @teambasics Kind of like the Sonics. They had a HUGE fan base in Seattle, but the team was sold to an arrogant dipshit who didn't care about anything except moving the team.

  • @Jeff98177 The Thunder made the playoffs last season, so I think that was stupid of the NBA. They should have waited at least 5 more years because the Sonics made the playoffs if they were still a team.

  • @teambasics they averaged less than 10000 a game

  • Comment removed

  • i liked the expos better than the corny nationals. i dont remember much about them because it was some years ago, why did they move?

  • I'm from Pennsylvania and they were my absolute favorite. Here's to seeing them return to Montreal one day.

  • so sad. I remember that time. Omg.... i feel like shit right now.

  • I believe that the MLB will put another team in Montreal, but it wont be the Expos, cause the Nationals now have good prospects and a bright future, and a new stadium, if there will ever be another baseball team in Montreal it will be an expansion team.

  • The Expos had so many players that have been stars in the past 10 years. RIP

  • The 1994 World Series Champion Expos

  • @brxazilian xD hahahaha lay off the crack dude

  • @f22cool Hey,what can I say? Your mums a bad influence. :(

  • @brxazilian you make no sense jackass how is my mom a bad influence

  • @f22cool She's the biggest crackhead in town

  • @brxazilian what if they collapsed in the post season? much like how the Angles do after all those good years. i would have given then a 40% chance of winnin it

  • @brxazilian there was no 1994 world series. Players strike.

  • @jewsinschool shut tha fuck up

  • I've never missed any sports team the way I miss the expos. I'm from St. louis and a HUGE cardinals fan...but I always loved the Expos. Their team name, their awesome jerseys, the fact that their in canada, they ugly stadium that had something really great about it....everything about the expos. i miss them so much...

this might be a stupid question...but realistically speaking, is there any possible way for the expos to go back to monteal? even if they were in the american league, i wouldn care

  • @uber418 thanks for your comments... I am from Montreal and I miss them too.

  • @uber418

Thanks man, I am living in Quebec and I also miss them out... Im appreciate that we are not the only one to miss the franchise.

I would do anything to get them back... so for the time being... Go Cards Go!

  • the spos will eventually return to Montreal. It is too big a city to only have the Habs and Als, they need a 3rd team

  • I was there at that game ... the saddest day in montreal sports

  • The MLB handled the Expos situation so poorly. The one time they had a chance at a championship, a strike occurred. It was also stupid to have Montreal in the National League. They obviously would have benefited from a rivalry with the Blue Jays. As for people not supporting baseball in Canada, it gets plenty of support. Canada only has one MLB team now though and it hasn't made the playoffs in 17 years.

  • well said and very true, just imagine the instant rivalries that they would have had playing in the AL East of course with toronto, adding to the mtl-tor sports rivalry and same thing with boston, they should have put them in that division in 1998 when the rays debuted and put tampa in the NL east so they would have the in-state rivalry with the marlins, RIP Nos Amours!

  • Just imagine what it would have been like if the big "O" was filled like that every Expos game...

  • 5 years ago today, the last game in 'Spos history.

    Sad.

  • Canada doesnt support baseball overall. sorry to say it, and i am a Canadian who would love to see the expos come back. But its HockeyLand and when summer comes around its NHL playoffs and then generally people like to take a break from watching sports and enjoy the summer.

  • I went to Expos games when i was a kid, without a clue of how baseball works except for HRs, Doubles, Triples, steals and the Fastball. Now that i am older and able to appreciate baseball and sports in general, i wish the Expos would come back so that i can actually enjoy a game.

Also, the Expos have more wins in their final 4 years than the Nats in their first 4 (301-284), and its now on pace to being a larger margin if we count 5 years. =(

  • Miss the Expos

  • I miss so much the montreal expos

  • expos were good, cheap and they were closed to where I lived :( I miss em, now I only got yankees mets and redsox. All charging an arm and a leg to park and for tixx

  • epzik8,

ur a fucking idiot, nationals have been been the worst team in baseball since they moved from montreal, Montreal deserves a team back, they got fucked over completely by there owners, the mlb, and the strike, im a jays fan and we can another team in Canada, and on a lighter note, Vancouver, its possible for them to get a team, they got a nice dome i suppose, theres an opition for u flying fuckface owners of the mlb, EXPOS PLZ COME BACK!

  • you are a idiot RaptoRsAreTecMo the nationals are the expos. neither were any good. washington ended up with all of montreals players.

  • beastdoggie shut the fuck up, im not an idiot u dumbfuck, i know the nationals were the expos, and montreal was good, in 1994 they were predicted to win the world series, so shut up u national cross eyed pussy fan and gtfo and never post again

  • yeah well they never did. bring back the Senators!

  • They'll come back cuz if washington seattle and ny can get a team back then canada will.

  • I'm a diehard Met fan, but the Expos always had a place in my heart.

[Looks at Expos caps with a bit of sadness.]

  • ah, i, too am a bosox fan, but i kinda wish the expos were still around, their logos and stuff looked cool lol.. but more than that, the washington nationals that they turned into are even more unpopular, they get more people at the games than views on tv!

and season tix for them is only like 250 without a waiting list!!

i was considdering buying season tix for 250 for them just for the 3 game series they have with boston in june, then scalping the rest..

  • They stopped because they just got disgusted of being screwed over and over again of good players. In '94 they lost a good chunk of their talent for nothing, and never got it back again.

It's just like today's Marlin's. They get good young players, but lose them the moment they get in their prime phase. People just get tired of being screwed over and over again of a good team. It happened mostly in one shot for the Expos, and that was enough to sap the life out of the fans.

  • Why couldn't Montreal fans show up like this during the late 90s and early 2000s? They just stopped coming to the damn games.

Was a shame. I'm a Braves fan but I always liked the Expos too.

  • Yes, I'm a Braves fan too. I feel pretty bad for Montreal as I would had been. Bring Back EXPOS!

  • i miss watching the expos they were better in montreal as the washington nationals they've been horrible

  • it was a sad day, all my childhood memories come to the surface ,very sad day! adieu a l equipe que je me rattachais quand j etais jeune tres triste pour la ville ,le sport et le quebec!!!

  • Expos aren't anymore and they're still doing better than the fuckin' Cubs!

  • who won this game?

  • 94 expos best team ever

  • the 94 expos got screwed. im a met fan but you guys got screwed big cuz of the 1994 strike.

  • the last time the yankees played in montreal it was june of 2000 back when i wasent a baseball fan i bet they filled the place up

  • u obviously have no life at all by posting the same thing over and over again on different videos of the expos get a fucken life u loser i asume ur a nats fan so why are you complaining you have our team which may i add is still crap so why dont you just shove your head back up your ass since its been there for ur whole life prick

  • montreal was fun to go to because u could sit any were u want and it was very easy to go see a game it cost a $4 in canadien money and i wish they were still up there even though i am a huge yankees fan

  • expos were so cool and colorful =[

  • I still miss them.

  • That was very classy of the Marlins to immediately get out of the field and skipped their high fives for the win.

  • MLB is not the same without the Expos. I miss them :(

  • in 2002/2003 they finished higher than your Mets did and almost got the wildcard. don't worry, i'd be mad too ;)

  • yea 2 years big deal. the mets cant be great every single season. and btw the mets went to the world series in 2000. the expos never made it to the world series let alone the national league championship :p

  • the very year of the strike, they were about to accomplish that.

  • your right about them having a very good team in 1994, but you never what could happen in the playoffs. i feel bad for ya tho, the one year they had a chance the MLB goes on strike. go figure

  • Didn't Montreal get to the NLCS in 1981 (another strike year) when they lost to the LA Dodgers?

  • the one consolation is that the nationals suck worse than the expos ever could.

  • I miss the Expos :( !

  • AHHH 1994.....there would still be a team here if it wasnt for that damn strike!!!! we would have won not 1 but probably several world series, and baseball would be alive and kickin.....in a new downtown ballpark.

  • BINGO!!!!

  • I'm sad that the Expos had been changed, but I'm glad that the LAAngels got Vladimir Guerrero. :)

  • u guys had more success than Washington does now

  • curse?

  • i never said there was a curse

  • Eaglezfan5:

He wasn't saying that you said there was a curse, he was suggesting it as an answer to the Expos new home being a disaster.

  • true. Attendance wise I would disagree for the expos 6 last years but before that there wasn't much difference between Nats attendance and Expos. On the field the expos surely were better though, even if they had loss records almost every seasons after the strike

  • And they have a new stadium...still dont manage to average more than 30 000 per game.

  • @Eaglezfan5 If washington loses strasburg, it's all over. If the nats relocate after Selig steps down. We know where they're going ;)

  • @Eaglezfan5 Your posting is 3 years old and it is still true!!!

  • I still remember wacthing this final game on TV. I was 12 at the time, so I didn't live much of their history, but a big part of my childhood was related to watching their games. I have that empty feeling whenever I think about it. I try to like the Jays a lot, but it just isn't the same.

I really do hope they come back one day, but if it does happen it might take decades.

  • i was 11 almost 12 when i went to my last expos game the only reason i went because it was chep and u could sit anywere u want in the stadium if the seaten wasent closed and their maskot was cool too yuppy i wonder what kind of job he has now he prob still have his coustum in his house so he can always rember the good times

  • no, now yoopi is the Montreal Canadien's maskot ;]

  • does he still wear the same coustum or is it different

  • I hate to break your heart even more, but I've been to about 8 MLB parks, and this is by far the worst one I had ever been to.

  • blue jays suck and their the only mlb team in baseball

  • they died because no one went to there games. the marlins barely get any fans either. that's because their stadium is in the middle of nowhere. they're building another one in downtown miami that will hopefully attract more people

  • no it,s because in south fl it rains alot but their geting their own stadium in a few years and it will have a retrackable roof but in the winter that stadium is crowed and the dolphines own that stadium even though they suck but the stadium is still called dolphine stadium

  • none of the other teams warnt talking about leaving the twins never was going to leave min orthe indaions wasent going to leave clevland or tha marainors leaving seattle montreal dident want the expos because their not baseball fans but toranto blue jays r still in canada and the only mlb team in canada they might as well leave too

  • r u serious? the Jays leave??

    nott!

  • wow it was crawed they should have stayed everyone did care 4 them

  • mlb did everything to keep the twins in minnesota ,indians in cleveland ,mariners in seattle and so on,but scrued the expos because they were a canadian team...lorie was the final scrue in the expos coffin...take a look at hockey where we are scrued on a consistant basic ...

  • jr6139, do you realise that your comments are hate-filled racial insults.First it's the french & then it's all Canadians, all based on someone throwing a piece of paper on the field.Very commendable review, maybe they can hire you at Fox News, you'd fit right in with their perspective on things. This is the same as someone saying all Americans suck because when some kids come up to Canada, they get drunk out of their wits and scream & vomit in our streets. That doesn't represent all americans.

  • They were throwing golf balls on the field in the third inning. The players had to leave the field briefly.

  • at least thats better than fans running on the field in american teams

  • racist :P

  • More than 1 reason to why the team was moved, blaming it on the fans only, or management only etc is wrong. From 77 to the early 90's, 30k crowds were very common, if you don't know, you weren't there. I was one of the 6000 die-hards the last few years. But I understand why fans stayed away, because when Brochu started his mantra of impending doom to justify slowly diluting the team, people saw the writing on the wall.

Too many owners caring about their pockets, not building a team or fan base.

  • wow, I have never seen an Expos game so crowded

  • there were much crowded ones, like near 50000 fans. However, since the strike those were usually the first games of the season and the last ones, that's all.

  • That '94 strike really killed baseball in MTL. Not to mention they had the best record in the league before the strike.

  • Loria was the real-life version of the female owner in "Major League": screw the team over to the point of failure and move them.

  • I live in this town and I would have to agree the fans or NON fans are to blame...People here are Hockey freaks but forget that come summer time there is no hockey...when you have about 3.6 million + habitants and you can't get at least 20,000 in a ball park the only ones to blame are the people themselves...MLB did what any business would have done. They rather too for the CFL/Alouettes and other INFERIOR leagues...shame on you all.

  • well if alouettes ever move it will be for the same reasons as why Quebec Nordiques hockey team moved in Colorado: too small stadium and the town not wanting to help financing the building of a bigger one.

Alouettes sells out every games at the Molson Stadium, but it only seats 20202.

  • Sure miss the EXPOS---Jeff Loria has got to be the worst sports team owner ever.

  • I agree, he sure is killing the Marlins down here in Florida.

  • Cubs fans suck, they leave when da cubs start to lose

  • ppl used to care about expos, until after they lost all their good players after the strike. There used to be 30000 ppl per game before (sometimes 50000). It went downhill afterward

  • I was at Jarry Park in 1973 for a double header between the Expos and Cardinals. It was a good time and taking the subway to the game was an experience for a country bumpkin from rural Florida. Montreal is a GREAT city to visit!

  • fuck the nats...

  • stupid Nationals

  • What a shame. Montreal is such a vibrant, cosmpolitan city. To say the situation was hopeless was incorrect. The Minnesota Twins franchise was once deemed hopeless, same with the San Franciso Giants. Those teams and cities now regularly top 3 million in attendance. It's MLB's loss. . . .

  • would a been nice to win the last game :(

  • In Ottawa we had the Lyncs they used to be the Expos farm team (they won the Championship in 1995 in their second year)and for the past two years ever since the Expos left Montreal, and became the farm team of Baltimore and then the Phillies the stadium was almost empty at times. They have now been moved to of all places Allentown PA.

  • Ahh the expos. My dad used 2 work for Lorne Webster and he gave us tickets all the time. Those were good times.

  • they defrauded the expos out of the world series, and the fans did not show up until the last game.

montreal is not the same city as it was with MLB in town, what ashame to lose something like that.

  • The Worst Thing That Could Happen To The Montreal Expos Was the 1994 Strike They Had The Best Record In Baseball and I Truly Believed They Would of Won The World Series It's a Shame all That Talent They Grew In Their Farm System

  • And Ended Up Trading All Of Them U Can Only Wonder What Could Of Been In The 1994 Strike Didn't Happen Maybe It's The Expos Winning All Those National League East Divison Titles and Not The Braves

  • After the strike, Pedro Martinez and Larry Walker were not even offered contracts, so other teams took them. And then in 2003 they were tied as the top team in the wildcard race at the end of August, but the league wouldn't let them call up 10 minor leaguers in September, and the team fatigued and fell apart.

  • I think it's ignorant to blame Expos fans for the failure of this franchise in Montreal. I wonder how the fans of other clubs would react if their team had to constantly trade away their best players for financial reasons and then have to put up with an incompetent slimeball of an owner like Jeff Loria, who seemingly did everything humanly possible to run the Expos into the ground. I betcha they'd stay away from the ballpark too.

I sincerely hope Montreal gets another team someday.

  • Then you might as take away the Rays and the marlins.

  • Youppi is awesome

  • Until youve been a fan of the team or even lived in montreal you'll never know what we went through with this team. Starting with the 94 strike all the way to loria and selig. We got screwed over way too many times

  • about 31,000 showed up the last game. the day before there was about 9,000 fans there

  • the expos were better then the nationals will ever be fuck washington i used to go to Montreal every year but now i cant

  • If i ever see Jeffrey Loria in the streets of Montreal he is mine, and whoever wants to help can join in on the beating.....Miss the Expos alot thnx for nothing Loria
